Holy Smoke Resort

Fifteen pull-through sites with full hookups sit among tall pines and firs in this forested campground just outside Keystone. Holy Smoke Resort operates seasonally from mid-May through mid-October, accommodating RVs up to 78 feet with 30/50 amp electric, water, and sewer connections. The sites are narrow, as several reviewers note, though they provide adequate space for larger rigs.

Campers report helicopter traffic overhead during daytime hours, a byproduct of the location's proximity to Mount Rushmore and other Black Hills attractions. The campground includes WiFi service and allows campfires, with a small dog park near the entrance. Some sites require re-leveling, according to visitor feedback, and the property enforces strict rules that some find less welcoming than expected.

The location provides convenient access to major regional destinations. Lawrence P. notes the campground puts visitors "close to all the wonders that the Black Hills has to offer," including Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, and Rapid City. Keystone's tourist district sits within walking distance, though campers describe it as overpriced. Several cabins are available for rent alongside the RV sites.

Reserve ahead during peak season, as the combination of full hookups and central location draws steady traffic from May through October.

Great option!

We are loving it! There’s a little town right next to the campground, A LOT of helicopters flying overhead during the day. Mount Rushmore is very close. Full hookups, excellent wifi signal!

The spaces are a little cramp for my liking but there are some more farther spots that you could choose.

There’s no laundry mat in the camp but there’s one at the little town.

We came for a few days only and we end up staying longer because there’s so much to do around here! And the weather is amazing!

Wonderful place to stay and see the area!

What a wonderful place to stay and be close to all the wonders that the Black Hills has to offer!

It is a Full Hook up campground and I loved it. The sites could use some re-leveling but other than that, it was great! The staff was "Terrific!"

My mother stayed in the Old Nugget #7 Cabin and she loved it as well. It's an original cabin with some upgrades but was very quaint and cozy, just what my mother loved.

Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse and many of the other attractions are very close and easy to get to from here. If you need a big city feel, Rapid City is a short ride away as well. The town of Keystone is just down the road but is very touristy and over-priced, IMO but if you like that kinda stuff, go for it!

Have fun, we did!

Central well kept RV and Cabin park!

Nice centrally located RV park with 14-15 large pull-through sites with full water, sewer and 30/50 amp hookups. Sites are have plenty of space for rigs but are narrow and do not provide a lot of space to stretch out! Your in the Black Hills and located near so many things to do, you will want to be out exploring anyways!!

For those looking for a cabin, Holy Smokes does offer some cabins that have fantastic views!

The host is friendly and expect to be treated with kindness!

Just Fine

Really nothing in particular wrong with this campground, but it’s a little pricey at $45 for no bathrooms or showers. There is a little dog park at the front. Rules are pretty strict to the point of being unfriendly.

Holy wonderful!

My family rented a camper and stayed three nights at this amazing resort in July 2020. It offers spacious pull-through sites, with giant trees and full hook ups. There’s no frills but we didn’t need any! The location is perfect. It’s out of the way, and situated so there’s little highway noise. It provides easy access to all of the fun sights: downtown Keystone, SD, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse (our personal fav) and surrounding areas. Be sure to take the drive to see the Mammoth Site & Musem! We strongly urge you to consider reserving a campsite at Holy Smokes Resort. We will definitely be back!
