Waking up to deer grazing on acorns just outside your rig is one of the more unexpected details campers report at Days End Campground in camping near Sturgis, South Dakota. The campground sits right off the interstate, and that proximity to the highway means road noise is part of the deal during the day. Nights tend to be quieter. A berm along the north side of the property separates sites from a small creek, and reviewers who have camped on that side note views of the surrounding hills.
The campground is built around the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally calendar. During rally week, the place fills up fast, and a covered pavilion in the middle of the property hosts nightly gatherings. "A fun party in the big shed each night," notes Michael B., who also points out the campground is a short walk to the rally itself. Outside of rally season, the crowd thins considerably. One reviewer arrived three hours early in late September and found the property nearly empty, with staff still willing to accommodate an early check-in.
Site size is a recurring concern in the reviews. Multiple campers mention that RV sites are tight enough that opening an awning is difficult or impossible. Full hookups with electric, water, and sewer are available, but sewer connections are limited in number. Showers require quarters and have drawn mixed feedback on water pressure and temperature. The campground also has a dump station, WiFi, and drinking water on-site. Nearby alternatives worth comparing include Eagles Landing Campground to the north and Days End Campground, Cabins, & RV Park just down the road.
The office decor is politically outspoken, as Sabrina V. documents in detail, which is worth knowing before arrival. Tent campers generally have more room to work with than RV users, and the north-side sites give the best combination of views and wildlife activity. Reservations are strongly recommended for rally week; outside of August, walk-ins are more feasible. Bring a roll of quarters if you plan to shower.
