Horsey Heaven

This place is mainly for people with horses but anyone can camp here. They have spacious, level, clean sites with full hookups and fire rings. The entire property is pristine. Even the horse stalls are immaculate. The cabins are cute and CLEAN looking. Most campground cabins have that skeevy vibe. These don’t. There is a small inn. This camp is located 3.9 miles off of the main road. Which is a bonus because unlike many of the campgrounds we passed on our way in, this one has zero road noise. It is very peaceful and serene. The views of the mountains are beautiful and tonight’s sunset was gorgeous. The only occasional sounds are the whinnying of horses. Which is a great sound. We can’t believe this place is $49 a night. Unbelievable value. I wish we lived closer because we would come back on a regular basis! This campground is very close to downtown Custer (adorable) and to all the local attractions!

Great camp site even if you don't have a horse

We enjoyed our stay at this well run clean campground. There were lots of horses as Buffalo Roundup was occurring. Good WIFI, clean bathrooms, wide open mountain views and close to Custer State park. Plan on  some horse poop in your hiking boots treads  and enjoy.

Favorite BY FAR

This place is gorgeous, clean, friendly, and serene. We stayed a total of 5 nights and enjoyed it very much. The sites are nice, long pull-thrus with full hookups. There are cabins, an inn, and tent sites as well. The laundry facilities, bathrooms, and showers are all extremely clean and EVERYTHING WORKS!

One of my favorite parts of this campground was the location. You get a great view of the black hills, wide open sky for start gazing, and it’s close to Custer state park and Custer itself. Only an hour from Rapid City. While having the feeling of being completely away from everything you have everything you could need 4 miles away.

Our kids looooved it here. There’s a great play ground and plenty of room to run around. We don’t have horses but seeing them come in and out of camp was a lot of fun.

Friendly, quiet campground

Stayed here for 5 nights on one of their tent campgrounds. Although the campground is mostly for RVs and horses, the tent space is a small shaded area right behind the main office. Besides the neighing of the horses, the campground was quiet. Everyone, including park staff and fellow guests was kind and friendly!

Lastly, and I left this until the end because it’s unbelievable: the bathrooms are VERY clean and beautiful! Definitely the nicest facilities I’ve ever seen on a campground! Will be staying here again!

Feels Like Home

I stayed at Broken Arrow for 10 days in my A frame camper(no horses), and all I can say is“wow”. The bathrooms are clean and beautiful and the sites are very well maintained and level. They even have lights on the site signs to help when you get there late. There is coffee for you in the office, and also a small store. But the very best thing about Broken Arrow is the owners. Dan happily greeted me when I walked in with a“Julie’s here!”. By the end of my 10 days, it felt like I was leaving family. I’ve already made my reservation for next year. If you are lucky enough to find open availability, take it. You won’t regret it.
