Rushmore View RV

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Rushmore View RV sits behind a hotel on the edge of Keystone, within easy walking distance of restaurants, laundry, and shops in town. The campground is privately managed and provides full hookups with electric, water, and sewer, plus WiFi, showers, and a dump station. Sites run $35 to $50 per night, and reservations are available.

The name sets expectations that the campground itself doesn't always deliver. Campers report that sightlines to Mount Rushmore are largely blocked by the hotel and surrounding structures, with partial views possible from the hotel parking lot. The access road into the newer site area includes tight corners and low-lying rocks that have caused difficulty for larger rigs, including at least one reported high-centering incident with a pull-behind trailer. Sites are on the smaller side, and the area can feel crowded. The creek running along the property is described by multiple visitors as little more than a drainage swale, particularly in dry weather.

Cleanliness has been a mixed point in reviews, with some guests noting the bathhouse was clean and others flagging issues. Shower heads are reported to be low-mounted, which can be awkward for taller campers. Tatiana P. notes it was "quiet and close to town," which reflects the campground's main practical draw. Pets are allowed. Campers wanting a more natural setting nearby might consider Grizzly Creek Primitive or Battle Creek Campground as alternatives.

Good location

I don’t know what I was thinking when I reserved a spot with a Rushmore view…. You can see part of it if you move around. Otherwise it was quiet and close to town. We could walk no problem. Laundry, food and booze all close

Read the reviews!

Not worth it at all!  Our so called view of the faces was drowned out by the more immediate views of motels and the coming and going of people into and out of the rooms.  Our site was right up against the so called creek also, understand dry weather but it is really more like a drainage swale.  Not worth it all all, staff was not friendly and the disappointment of pulling into the RV area outshined any potential far away beauty of a face with some sunlight on it.

Small, bad water, tight driveway

With no signs pointing to the hotel office, we started down the path to what looked like the rv office only to have them be quite upset we didn’t check in. After getting checked in, we had to go around behind the hotel to their “new and improved sites”, which were far from new or improved. The driveway into the new area is so tight on corners with low laying rocks making it hard to navigate the turns esp in a 40’ tank. One other camper actually high-centered their pull behind on the rocks trying to make the turn.

The water quality is awful! We went to the next site possible and flushed all water systems due to the bad quality.

The creek is nothing more than a trickle or water with weeds and bushes all around it.

The bathrooms were not clean, and very short shower heads, I’m 5’7” and literally had to duck to wash my hair.

Would not stay here again for the 55$ it costs. Additionally, the only way to get to Rushmore is by 20-25$ taxi or you drive which is only 2 miles away.
