Several RV-specific campgrounds surround Annville, Pennsylvania, offering full hookup options for motorhomes and travel trailers. Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country in Manheim provides 30/50-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections, with both back-in and pull-through RV pads available from April through October. Pinch Pond Family Campground accommodates big rigs with spacious gravel sites that include water, electric, and sewer hookups. Thousand Trails Hershey in Lebanon features full hookup RV sites, though spaces can be tight during peak season. Appalachian Camping Resort in Shartlesville accommodates larger rigs on mostly level sites from April through October. "These RV sites are the tightest I have ever seen. So tight that the people next to you using a picnic table or fire ring are 3-4 feet from your camper."
Most RV parks in the region maintain sanitary dump stations and trash collection services, with varying degrees of on-site amenities. Spring Gulch Resort Campground offers full hookups for RVs with a longer operating season from March through December. Access roads to campgrounds are generally well-maintained, though some parks feature sloping terrain that may require careful leveling. Cell service varies throughout the area, with several visitors noting spotty connectivity at more remote locations. A recent review noted, "Very large park... 2 bars LTE on T-Mobile. We stayed in loop 700 - very nice, new and well-maintained area with mature trees and lovely fall colors." Pet-friendly policies are standard across most facilities, with designated dog areas at several parks. Propane refill services are limited, so travelers should plan accordingly before arrival.
"The biggest downside to this particular campground is its very close proximity to the PA Turnpike, which while convenient, might detract a bit from the peace & quiet you might be expecting when here"
"Tucked into the rolling, wooded hills of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country RV Resort offers a unique blend of peaceful countryside and activity-packed camping, all just a stone"
"We stayed at Appalachian to visit a friend who has a seasonal site. Our site was full hook up."
"Family friendly. Lots for the kids to do."
"While it offers nice amenities and a shuttle to Hersheypark, the campground itself is very tight, cramped, and hard to navigate."
"I stayed at HersheyPark Camping Resort with my family over the extended Easter weekend this year. "
from $50 - $60 / night
"There was a craft show in the barn which was nice. Only two dump stations for a pretty large park. We would camp here again but not over a holiday."
"The campsites available are primitive or have water and electric and bathhouses / restrooms are located in a few spots around the park. Fire rings are at each site, but appear to get moved a lot."
"While its proximity to the highway makes access easy, the property itself is gated, organized into distinct camping zones and packed with amenities that clearly cater to longer stays and families looking"
"campground so inconveniently located (more on this later) right next to highway I76."
"Well wooded campground with friendly staff and guests. The only minor complaint is that the camp store was sparsely supplied. B+ little gem of a campground."
"Showed up on Wednesday, and was assigned a spot in loop 700 up on a hill in the center of a ring of trailers, past a lot of full-timers. Cable does not work. No internet. 2 bars LTE on T-Mobile."
"It's too bad it is mainly seasonal sites back there. This campground is called Robin HILL for a reason. You will get you exercise walking to the pond, pool, capstone or basketball courts."
"Although they do have sites for tents, this seems to be better suited for RVers and renting cabins. Many of the people we met during our stay are regulars."
"I got an amazingly large site with a nice fire pit and picnic table. The site was very level so that was great! Nice indoor and outdoor pools! Cable TV isn't free, but I never use it anyway."
"We got pretty lucky and were assigned one of the concrete pads that was pretty level. It is absolutely beautiful out."
"My family and I stayed at Lake In Wood for 4 days. The campground is very well maintained , and the staff is very nice."
"From the spotlessly clean grounds to the nice facilities this is a favorite of ours. There are lots of seasonal sites but there also lots of visitors too."
from $40 - $60 / night
"The spots are a little tight but we were able to get our 46’ toy hauler in the spot with very little effort. Because the sites are back-in, we can’t use our rear patio but that is ok."
"The staff was very friendly and our site was a good location. People were all friendly and welcoming! We came in early fall with 3 kids."
Easy access to Lancaster and Pennsylvania Dutch areas. Friendly, welcoming staff and plenty of colorful trees in the autumn. The only RV park in the area that is open year round.
The staff here are amazing. Quiet time is respected, clean campground. Will come again.
Country Acres is a lovely, well maintained campground. Sites are level and bath house facilities clean and modern. Friendly staff in the office. Dog friendly. Local to all the Lancaster attractions. A complimentary farmland tour is offered by bus and it was great. They take you out into an area of Amish farms and shops and make a stop at 2 of these. The fresh Amish pretzels are amazing!
We booked two nights mid October not realizing that it's duck hunting season and that hunting is allowed RIGHT by the campground - with kids everywhere. We were jolted out of sleep at 5 am by gun fire right near our site. It kept up for the next hour. In addition, the bathrooms, although clean are in poor condition. Peeling paint everywhere with bare concrete in the showers. For such a pretty site, we had a miserable stay. We left after one night.
You just can't beat a pennsylvania park. This one is not an exception. Nice clean restroom, plenty of room. Now, what cost a star. Yes, it rained like hell. When we broke camp and go dump. The dump station was overflowing with sewer. Go to the guard shack to tell them, and find another site. None there. Can I go to an unused full hookup to dump? No! I would have to pay for the site. Two hours later, we found a place to dump for $10.
The advertisements for Olde Mill Campground were disingenuous. The campsite was 20 yards from a roller coaster. The NOISE of the roller coaster and children on it screaming was as relentless and unnerving as any train we have ever slept near. There was no quiet until almost midnight. The “pull-through” site left my truck almost in the road and our 25’ Airstream slightly over the road on the backside. The site was not level. The sites were close enough to hear a neighbor’s snoring.
We stayed here to go to the Hershey RV show—about 55 min drive. Right in the center of Amish country. Campground is adults only. It was very clean. The bathrooms were very clean with great water pressure. The roads are tight for getting into sites. Site 5 was not level side to side. We met great people there.
We only spent the night and didn't look at the amenities. The manager was very friendly and accommodating.
The campground is in excellent condition. The facilities are top notch. The excellence and care of the campground is evident. The 4 stars is only due to the road noise and many of the sites are on top of each other. You feel like your neighbor is at your camp fire.
Camping near Annville, Pennsylvania offers convenient access to the Pennsylvania Dutch countryside with rolling hills, limestone landscapes, and elevation changes of 400-700 feet. The region maintains moderate temperatures from spring through fall, with summer highs rarely exceeding 90°F, making extended camping seasons possible at many facilities. Most campgrounds in this area sit adjacent to working farms or wooded areas that showcase Pennsylvania's agricultural heritage.
Fishing opportunities: Multiple campgrounds feature stocked ponds that don't require a Pennsylvania fishing license. At Pinch Pond Family Campground, campers can fish the small pond located in the back of the property. "Clear in the back of the property, you'll find a small fishing pond," notes a recent visitor.
Agricultural experiences: The working farm at Thousand Trails Gettysburg Farm provides daily animal interactions. "Got a kick out of the children playing with the kids (baby goats) pigs, goats, chickens, horses and even lamas. Plenty to see and learn," writes one camper. The farm offers scheduled feeding times and educational experiences.
Mini golf courses: Several campgrounds maintain on-site mini golf courses with modest fees. "Free mini golf. You can borrow golf clubs but you do have to buy balls," notes a visitor to Appalachian Camping Resort. Most courses are open throughout the camping season and provide family entertainment during evening hours.
Themed accommodations: Beyond standard RV sites, specialized rentals draw attention at Lake-In-Wood Campground. "There are a lot of really neat and different rentals here like a tree house, double decker bus, among others," explains one camper. These unique options typically require advance booking due to their popularity.
Indoor recreation options: Several campgrounds maintain indoor facilities for rainy day activities. "There is an indoor pool and spa (spa closed due to Covid). Arcade was open," mentions a visitor to Thousand Trails Circle M. Indoor recreation halls often host scheduled activities during weekends throughout the season.
Local Amish culture: Proximity to Amish communities creates unique experiences. "Not much for amenities, but I loved the surrounding dutch/Amish towns! It was pretty cool to seemingly step back in time," shares a visitor to Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country. Local craft markets and food stands frequently visit campgrounds during summer months.
Site elevation challenges: Many campgrounds feature sloping terrain requiring careful RV leveling. "Unlevel is an understatement we were in E row and every camper there had front end 4 foot off the ground," reports a camper at Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country, highlighting the importance of bringing extra leveling blocks.
Shooting range proximity: Several campgrounds in the area are located near active shooting ranges. "The only thing that is negative is that there is a shooting range right next door. It is pretty consistent from lunch to dinner," notes a camper at Pinch Pond Family Campground. This ambient noise may impact daytime relaxation for some guests.
Seasonal weather impacts: Spring camping near Annville often means dealing with wet conditions. At Spring Gulch Resort Campground, a visitor observed that "most of the campsite options are fairly level, but are very rocky, so this is something to keep in mind if you are tent camping." Heavy rains can create muddy conditions at sites without proper drainage.
Activity scheduling: Weekend activities are more plentiful than weekday options. "They had Halloween ever at every weekend of October and we spent Halloween weekend here. The kids loved it!!" explains a camper at Circle M. Most special events require registration at the camp office upon arrival.
Pet accommodations: Most campgrounds welcome pets but maintain specific restrictions. "Pet-friendly policies are standard across most facilities, with designated dog areas at several parks," though some limit the number of pets per site. Some campgrounds charge additional pet fees ranging from $2-5 per night.
Playground access: Family-oriented campgrounds maintain multiple play areas. At Robin Hill Campground, "the playground was luckily right across from us up on the hill. They also have a Frisbee golf course on site." Most playgrounds are centrally located, making site selection important for families with younger children.
Buddy site awareness: Some RV sites are designed as paired locations. "The buddy site was very narrow and since our buddy arrived first we had no choice but to park farther down on the site to avoid our awnings touching and that left us very uneven," shares an Appalachian Camping Resort visitor, recommending to "make sure you aren't put on the buddy sites if at all possible."
Water pressure considerations: Variations in water pressure occur throughout many campgrounds. "Water pressure is pretty low and the sewer pipe is a little high but all around a really solid experience," notes an RVer at Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country, suggesting bringing a water pressure regulator for protection.
Satellite reception limitations: Tree coverage impacts satellite service for many RVers. "Definitely got lucky with site F03 for Starlink. The rest of the campground has a lot of tree cover," reports a camper about PA Dutch Country. RVers dependent on satellite internet should request more open sites when making reservations.
