Foxfire Campground, located in Nevada proper, provides tent, RV, and cabin accommodations with electric hookups, water access, and thirty-amp service for recreational vehicles. Within 20-30 miles, additional options include Sunset Springs RV Resort, Walnut Grove Campground, and Heritage Springs Campground, all offering similar cabin lodging alongside traditional camping sites. Most campgrounds in this area maintain picnic tables, fire rings, and access to toilets and showers.

Camping seasons in this region typically run from April through October, with most facilities closing during winter months. Several campgrounds near Nevada follow specific operational calendars, such as Sunset Springs RV Resort (May 1 to October 15) and Tee Pee Family Campground (May 1 to November 1). Reservations are recommended for weekend stays, especially during summer months when facilities often reach capacity. The relatively flat terrain makes this area suitable for both tent and RV camping, with many campgrounds providing water and electric hookups. One camper shared about Heritage Springs: "Wide roads, good guidance, quiet at night, nice laundry, easy to get to. Good water and 30 Amp connection."

Campers consistently mention family-friendly atmospheres and activities as highlights of campgrounds in this area. Swimming areas, fishing ponds, and organized activities appear frequently in positive reviews of local facilities. The Foxfire facilities feature ponds with inflatable slides, fishing opportunities, and creek access that families particularly appreciate. Seasonal events, particularly Halloween-themed weekends, receive special mention at Walnut Grove Campground. While sites are sometimes described as being close together, the abundant amenities compensate for the proximity to neighbors. Several campgrounds maintain small camp stores for basic supplies, though larger shopping requires traveling to nearby towns. Public swimming areas and fishing opportunities represent common attractions across multiple campgrounds, with both natural ponds and constructed pools available depending on the facility.

      Mohican Adventures Campground and Cabins

Could not ask for a better site. Absolutely beautiful setting. A nice small lake for fishing, and a perfect shallow stream for kids to play in, running right by the sites. The pool house and facilities are spotlessly clean. On top of that, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We even needed a jumpstart for our truck when we were towing the camper out on a rainy Monday morning and someone came around to help. 100% will come back and 100% would recommend to anyone.

      Alum Creek State Park Campground

      Nice Suburban Campground

Right close to Columbus this campground is a staple for locals trying to just get away for the weekend. There is an amphitheater, a camper’s beach, nature center, and more all within the campground. Alum creek state park is a larger facility surrounding the campground with a public beach, walking paths, mountain bike trails, archery range, hunting areas, boat marina and more. The public beach is rather gravelly but has nice shower houses and grills available. We are attending during fall fest where they put on many activities for the campers and it is a lot of fun. You have to reserve 6 months in advance to be able to get in on fall fest unless there is a last minute cancellation. Our site is relatively flat parking, we didn’t need to level the rig. It did rain the morning we got here and the area around the fire pit was a bit muddy. The view out the back of this camp site is nice and wooded, you’re not looking at your neighbors out the back window. The sides you can definitely see each other but it’s still wooded and secluded enough between the sites here.

      Delaware State Park Campground

      Love this one!

Great campground. My favorite is each loop has their own shower house! Nice playgrounds for kids. Nice private sites. Lots of woods and trails. Good lake for boating fishing and kayaking. Park is very clean and well maintained. They have a kids fishing pond! It’s also great for biking.

      Deshler Crossroads Park

      Camping right near the Tracks

Deshler, OH offers a campground in Crossroads Park, famous for 4 sets of train tracks and the ability to see trains from all over. This campground is best suited for train enthusiasts, because you are with 10-20 feet of the tracks. There is a grassy field for tent8ng and parking spots near the pavilion for RV's. It is not big right friendly. Max trailer size should be about 20'. There is a porta potty on-site as well as electrical outlets and a covered pavilion with picnic tables. Gas and convenience stores nearby. Suggested donation is $20/night.

      Adventure Bound Pleasant View

      Decent/not as advertised

Our stay was in an RV Sept 2026.  I had specifically requested and paid extra for a spot on the fishing pond to fish.  Not only was there a lot of long-term campers at this resort, but the fishing pond was covered in duck weed over 3/4 of the water where my site was at, and on the day we left it was 100% covered with duck week.  The duck week invasion was not mentioned to me when I called and made the reservation to be on the water.  In fairness, I will say I caught some fish at the clear end of the pond before it was 100% covered.

The park itself was clean, quiet and decent.  The staff were very nice. The Aqua fun zones water is not clear blue as advertised, it is murky, the 9 hole mini golf is outdated and should be called mini-mini golf as it is very small.   The swimming pool and playground were as advertised.  I cannot answer to the other amenities as I did not see or utilize them.

In conclusion, this campground could benefit greatly from some updating especially of the amenities as they are not what the pictures portray.

      Mt Gilead State Park Campground

      Peaceful stop off I 71

My husband and I had an overnight stay here on our way to Indy. Sites were level and easy to navigate, with fire rings and picnic tables. Lots of trees and trails. Though the majestic pines were tall, they offered little for privacy. Bathrooms were clean and showers were free. However, the touchless feature made showering difficult as you have to stand directly in front of the sensor to keep the water running which means you must bear the cold water until it heats up. Neither of us had an enjoyable shower experience. Playground for the kiddos and a volleyball court. All around a nice stay.

    Tips from RVers

Hookup availability: Electric connections are standard at most campgrounds, though full hookups are limited. "New pull through are perfect for our 40 foot motorhome," notes Dave K. about Sunset Springs RV Resort.

Site dimensions: RVers should check specific site measurements before booking. "Our pad was pretty level and not hard to back into with a small camper. However, a lot of the pads are at 90° angles instead of 45° so it can be harder for a larger camper back in," advises Shannon G. about Mt Gilead State Park Campground.

Seasonal sites vs. weekend availability: Many campgrounds have a significant number of seasonal residents. "From what I've been told you might be able to get into one if you book the whole season a year in advance," explains Catherine about Alum Creek State Park Campground, referring to premium lakefront sites often occupied by long-term campers.
