    Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA

    Small basic campground near Toledo

Our site was $59.95 a night.

We were in Site# 504. We had Full hook- up with a gravel pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep. The site was easy to level. We were charged $25 additional for my jeep since we were towing the trailer. We also were charged $10 because we arrived at 1:25 PM and check-in is at 2 PM. The park was close to empty so arriving early was not an inconvenience. We drove ourselves to our spot (no escort).

Our site was shaded with lots of trees. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a concrete patio with picnic table and fire ring. They sell wood for $6 a bundle.

There is free WiFi, although not strong. They offer Cable TV and there are many channels.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen or community fire pit.

They pickup your garbage at your site daily before noon.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They do not provide golf cart rentals. There is really not a need to have a Golf cart because it is a smaller campground.

They do have a Swimming pool but it is currently closed due to maintenance (although it just looked closed- no signs of maintenance being done).

There is a Playground. They also offer horseshoes, corn hole, giant jinga.

They have a basic general store. There are not scheduled activities for kids.

There is not a snack bar/restaurant on site.

The streets are gravel so not great for riding bikes. This is an RV park with tent camping and cabins to rent.

They have one shower house. The shower house has individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept very clean.

There is a laundry facility. It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine. There are approximately 4 washers and 4 dryers. It is approximately $2.50 to wash and $2.50 to dry a load.

They have a small fenced in dog park.

There isn’t tons to doin the actual city of Perryville. But Toledo is a 20 minute drive.

    East Harbor State Park Campground

Ohio’s largest state park. Can accommodate big rigs. Most sites are electric, a few with full hookups. Many pull through sites. Very scenic

    Sterling State Park Campground

    Travel Trailers

This park will accommodate any size travel trailer? Fifth wheel camper of any kind, the pull throughs are huge. The park is enormous with lots of fishing activities. Great water, the only downfall is there's no shade. Showers and restrooms are updated and always clean.

    Gotta Getaway RV Park

    Ok

This was an overnight stay on our way to Pennsylvania. It would be a bonus for big rigs as the pull Throughs are flat and easy to get into. We tend to prefer a back in because it usually gives us a bit more protection on the backside. Unfortunately, the site we were assigned took three blocks to level up, the the power was on the wrong side and our picnic table was in the back area of another camper. The bathroom was nice and close and handy. Some great effort has been made to make it attractive with two-tone tile but that is all overshadowed by the amount of spiders and bugs. I am a full-time RV year and shower all over the United States and this was one of the buggiest ever. The majority of this campground is for seasonals. There are some very nice seasonal lots with a small pond in their back Yard. The owner was very friendly and helpful on the phone. Serves a variety of needs.

    Lighthouse Point at Cedar Point

    Immaculate!

Absolutely beautiful RV park! Gorgeous views of Lake Erie and walking distance to the gate of Cedar Point. Beautiful landscaping and very clean. Staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Good little camp store with reasonable(ish) prices. Too chilly to swim but the pool looks nice. Bathhouses are updated, clean and very nice, but pretty far from about half of the sites. One section has premium sites with upgraded grills and fire pits and crazy good lake views. The regular sites are still well landscaped and each have a grill and an extra long picnic table, but no fire pit. You can bring your own fire pit if your site doesn't have one. No bikes or golf carts allowed on the grounds, but there are Cedar Point buses available day & night as well as rickshaws during the day. Until now I have held Disney World's Fort Wilderness as the penultimate place for camping but they could learn a few things from Cedar Point! We stayed five nights in a pull through sites, #231. I would love to snag a premium site for our next trip but it may be difficult because they allow you to book up five years in advance!

    Timber Ridge Campgrounds

    Great Experience

We stayed at Timber Ridge for a month and found this to be a very nice campground. Stores are very level, full hookups, fishing pond, amazing indoor swimming pool. Staff was extremely nice. Many if the campers are long term but have several overnight doors as well.

We stayed in a 29ft Travel Trailer, but sites could handle the largest of rigs.

    East Harbor State Park Campground

    East harbor state park

Very clean. Close to everything you need close to ferry clean showers camp monitors were friendly sites are paved. 50/30 amp hookups Our site was just a standard electric site. They do have 150 full hook up sites or more. We made our reservations late we were not really concerned about water or sewer as we planned to use the camp ground facilities anyway. Fresh water is available to fill your holding tanks. Dump stations are easily acceptable as are water filling stations Big Boopers restaurant is a great place for breakfast lunch or dinner. If you do t feel like cooking it’s about a 10 min drive. Campground has very good WiFi. We have Verizon had very good reception inland and I. The islands. Bass island is a fun day trip. Sites were level left to right. Had a slight pitch front to back.

My family and I love this park. Quiet with large level sites. Everything from back ins with only electrical to pull throughs with full hook-ups.

Guide to Sandusky

Sandusky area campgrounds offer varying seasonal availability, with most operating from May through mid-October to align with Cedar Point's schedule. The region experiences average summer high temperatures around 82°F in July, with Lake Erie providing cooling lake breezes at waterfront locations. Most campgrounds in the area sit at elevations below 600 feet and have predominantly flat terrain with sandy soils near the lakeshore.

What to do

Beach access: Military Park Camp Perry Lodging and RV Park provides shoreline recreation within walking distance of campsites. "Beach & fishing pier within walking distance. All sites are angled & very easy to back into," notes Mathew H.

Miniature golf and activities: Harbortown RV Resort offers family recreation options adjacent to the campground. "Right next to camping is go karts, putt putt and arcade. We had a blast!" shares Beth G. The resort also features basketball courts, volleyball, and a playground within the property.

Lake Erie exploring: Marblehead Lighthouse offers scenic views and photo opportunities near Port Clinton. "The marblehead lighthouse is also beautiful for photos," reports Ashley R. from Cedarlane RV Resort. The area around Sandusky Bay provides multiple fishing access points, with many campgrounds either on water or within short driving distance.

What campers like

Swimming options: Cedarlane RV Resort provides multiple pool options, including dedicated areas for different age groups. "They have an adults only pool as well for those looking for a break from all the kids," mentions Ashley R., while Jeffrey C. notes "They have a great splash pad and wading pool for kids."

Early park access: Lighthouse Point at Cedar Point provides campers with priority entry to the amusement park. "Camping here allows an hour early into the park," reports Nicole D. The campground features convenience to Cedar Point that campers consistently mention as a primary benefit.

Privacy features: Several campgrounds offer landscaping elements that create separation between sites. "Each have a grill and an extra long picnic table," notes Chase G. about Lighthouse Point sites. Nicole D. adds that while sites are "Close to neighbors, some well-placed shrubbery makes it feel private."

What you should know

Electrical hookup variations: Fort Firelands RV Park provides electrical converters for campers without compatible equipment. "They only had 50w outlets, but will lend you a converter for $15.00, which is refundable upon leaving," explains Lisa K. Most parks offer 30-amp service as standard, with 50-amp available at premium sites.

Proximity to transportation: Highway noise affects some campgrounds near major routes. At Harbortown RV Resort, Trent T. warns about "how close it is to the expressway which is noisy and there are trains that go by during the night. There must be a few crossings near by because they blew the horn for 5+ minutes at 4:30am."

Bathroom maintenance: Cleanliness standards vary widely between properties. John A. found Sandusky Milan RV Park "Convenient access from Ohio turnpike" but noted "Bathrooms were disgusting and I couldn't use them." However, more recent reviews indicate improvements, with April J. stating the campground "has been wonderfully updated!"

Tips for camping with families

Off-peak scheduling: Weekday stays offer significantly less crowding during summer months. Gordon D. observed at Harbortown RV Resort that "Halloween weekends, this place is packed - but empties out Sunday Afternoons." Most campgrounds report similar patterns with weekend occupancy rates much higher than midweek.

Kid-friendly amenities: Sandusky Milan RV Park provides family recreation options on-site. "Clean bathrooms/showers, mostly level sites, full hook ups available, tent area available, nice pool and play area," reports Tracey S., who also notes it's "Only about 15 minutes to Cedar Point which is a nice, easy drive."

Scheduled activities: Many campgrounds run organized events for children during peak season. Kourtney D. found that at Harbortown RV Resort, "Mother's day activities were great and were free!" This demonstrates the seasonal programming that supplements permanent amenities at many area campgrounds.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: For optimal privacy in rv sites near Sandusky, Ohio, corner locations offer advantages. Sue B. from Gotta Getaway RV Park states, "We tend to prefer a back in because it usually gives us a bit more protection on the backside," though notes "Unfortunately, the site we were assigned took three blocks to level up."

Storage options: RV campers with watercraft benefit from dedicated boat parking at some facilities. April J. notes that Sandusky Milan RV Park has added "boat parking" among recent improvements, along with "an additional playground, dog park, newly paved roadways, newly redone building, a new pavilion, fire pit."

Premium site upgrades: RV campers seeking enhanced amenities at Sandusky campgrounds should consider premium locations. Chuck E. advises about Lighthouse Point at Cedar Point: "If you can, get a super patio site. Really cool and fun." Similarly, Chase G. notes some sections have "premium sites with upgraded grills and fire pits and crazy good lake views."
