Best RV Parks & Resorts near Mansfield, OH

Several RV parks near Mansfield provide full-hookup options for motorhomes and travel trailers. River Trail Crossing RV Park in Butler operates seasonally from May through mid-October with water and electric hookups, accommodating both small and large rigs on pull-through sites. Whispering Hills Jellystone RV Park features 50-amp service, sewer connections, and big-rig friendly sites open from April through October. "The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly," noted one camper about a nearby resort. Sunset Springs RV Resort in Bucyrus offers 40-foot motorhome-compatible pull-through sites with full hookups, while Evergreen Park RV Resort provides year-round access with level sites for larger vehicles.

Throughout the region, most RV parks maintain clean restroom facilities and dump stations, though quality varies. Cell service with Verizon generally works well at parks closer to Mansfield, with more limited connectivity in outlying areas. Many campgrounds require advance reservations, particularly during summer weekends and fall foliage season. Dump stations at some parks have reported issues, with one visitor noting that "the dump station here is set up for emptying totes - not much room to park a trailer/RV for dumping at it." Pet policies are generally accommodating, with designated dog areas at several parks. Propane is available on-site at multiple locations, and most parks offer at least 30-amp electrical service, with 50-amp connections becoming increasingly common for larger motorhomes.

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

Big Resort with lots of trees

This is a RV resort close to a lake with a lot of seasonal campers. It is busy on the weekend but was very quiet during the week. The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly. Plenty to do for the kids. Pool looks nice, was not open yet for the season.

    Amish Country Campsites

    Amish campsite

Very small campgrounds literally next to if not part of a corn field extremely cramped back if our camper was 2ft from the camper behind us and 15 ft from the campers left to right. When we left we had to knock on camper doors to ask folks to move their cars so we could pull out of out parking spot. The other campers were very nice lots of local folks they were fun to talk to. The camp site did have clean showers. Hot water. And. Clean restroom facilities. The dump station isn’t the best it is on a hill so dumping ones waste tanks completely could be a challenge The owners were polite but short The sites aren’t the best the electric is only 30 amp. And very dated they did have water hookups at each site. I didn’t take any pictures as there wasn’t anything to see at the campground other than campers packed in like sardines It is close to town and the shops. Everything closed at 5:00 including gas stations As they say any port in a storm. So as a last resort I guess it’s is okay. Just don’t plan to leave after 5:00 pm unless you have a full tank of gas. No ada camp sites. They are pet friendly

    River Trail Crossing

    Nice little campground

River Trail Crossing is privately owned, small campground (which we like) but nice and quiet. Sites include tents, small rigs and large pull through sites for big rigs. Sites located on the river are water and electric. Sites off the river have 50 amp and 30 amp. State route 95 runs to the right of the campsite so if you reserve any sites on the river (right side) you will have some traffic noise from the bridge. We reserved spot 32, farthest site to the right on the river. We loved it. The river was only about knee to hip deep. Most family’s floated with tubes and saw some kayaks. Not much for fishing at this particular section of the river. There is a paved bike/walking trail behind the campground - B&O trail. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. They do have 2 dumpsites available. We really enjoyed this campground, owners were very friendly and offer firewood and propane if needed. Mohican state park is only 10-15 minutes away which is really nice for hiking and fishing as well. We will be back!

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

    Excellent Campground!

Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware, Ohio is a very nice campground with friendly staff and lots of amenities! There are large back-in and pull-thru sites, each with grass, tree, picnic table, and fire pit. They are 30/50 amp with FHU. The campground has lots of fun things for the family such as swimming pool, playground, basketball, tennis, dog run, laundry, yard games, and so much more! The store is stocked with snacks, souvenirs, clothing, camping supplies, holiday decor, etc. We love the large shade trees at every site. It is a blessing on those hot summer days. All in all, a great campground! Check it out when in the area. 👍🏻😉

    Berkshire Campgrounds

    Incorrect pricing

The price advertised on The Dyrt is incorrect. It is not $38.50/day. We paid $50.29 with full hook ups. Very clean, staff very nice, but guests are not allowed without registering at the office. Many seasonal/full time residents which made for quite a bit of early morning traffic. Beautiful fishing pond with well groomed trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. Staff very pet friendly and courteous. Well appointed camp store. Water pressure excellent. Electric well within standard. Gravel pads, our site was off 2”.

    Gotta Getaway RV Park

    Ok

This was an overnight stay on our way to Pennsylvania. It would be a bonus for big rigs as the pull Throughs are flat and easy to get into. We tend to prefer a back in because it usually gives us a bit more protection on the backside. Unfortunately, the site we were assigned took three blocks to level up, the the power was on the wrong side and our picnic table was in the back area of another camper. The bathroom was nice and close and handy. Some great effort has been made to make it attractive with two-tone tile but that is all overshadowed by the amount of spiders and bugs. I am a full-time RV year and shower all over the United States and this was one of the buggiest ever. The majority of this campground is for seasonals. There are some very nice seasonal lots with a small pond in their back Yard. The owner was very friendly and helpful on the phone. Serves a variety of needs.

    Tree Haven Campground

    Great first RV experience.

Great little campground. My wife and I spent a month out there in a fifth wheel to see if we like the lifestyle. Very nice pool(clean). Great walking trail back through the woods. Pet friendly and the bathrooms were very nice. Well....I guess we did! We are now in a search for a Diesel pusher to go full-time!

    Timber Ridge Campgrounds

    Great Experience

We stayed at Timber Ridge for a month and found this to be a very nice campground. Stores are very level, full hookups, fishing pond, amazing indoor swimming pool. Staff was extremely nice. Many if the campers are long term but have several overnight doors as well.

We stayed in a 29ft Travel Trailer, but sites could handle the largest of rigs.

Guide to Mansfield

RV sites near Mansfield, Ohio lie in a region characterized by rolling hills, woodlands, and proximity to the Mohican State Forest. Most campgrounds in the area sit between 1,000-1,200 feet above sea level, with seasonal operation typically running April through October. Winter camping options are limited with only a few resorts offering year-round access.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Kokosing River Campground provides access to Kokosing Lake where campers can enjoy catch-and-release fishing. "Beautiful lake, nice and quiet. Lots of waterfowl," notes one visitor to this wildlife area campground.

Biking trails: Access the B&O bike trail directly from River Trail Crossing in Butler. "Bike trail access right from the campground. Golf nearby, Amish shops, canoeing. Great area to visit," reports a camper who stayed at this seasonal park.

Amish Country shopping: Berlin RV Park provides convenient access to Amish Country attractions. "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves. It was a great place to stay. The park is in Amish areas so there is plenty of shopping to do," writes a winter visitor to Evergreen Park RV Resort.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Many campers praise the immaculate bathhouses. "SPOTLESS bathrooms and I mean SPOTLESS. Lots to do for kids. Sand Volleyball, basketball court, tetherball, corn hole area and playground," reports a visitor to Berlin RV Park & Campground.

Water activities: Seasonal water recreation ranks high with visitors. "We enjoyed our time at Sunset Springs. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. Facilities are clean and modern, and the grounds very nice," notes a camper with a 40-foot motorhome at Sunset Springs RV Resort.

Family activities: Campgrounds offering organized events receive positive reviews. "Great activities including mini golf, pool, jumping pad and frisbee golf. Cabins and RV spots available and the staff is friendly, grounds are clean and nicely kept," writes a camper about Whispering Hills Jellystone RV Park.

What you should know

Seasonal operation: Most RV parks near Mansfield close during winter months. "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves. The game room was nice as well as the indoor pool," reports a winter camper at Evergreen Park RV Resort, one of few year-round options.

Site spacing variations: Some campgrounds have tighter spacing than others. "Nice, small, shaded, well maintained campground. Wasn't crowded when we visited in Sep. but I can imagine when it's full it's a little crowded," writes a visitor to Kokosing River Campground.

Water levels: River-based campgrounds have varying water depths. "The river was only about knee to hip deep. Most family's floated with tubes and saw some kayaks. Not much for fishing at this particular section of the river," notes a camper at River Trail Crossing.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Look for campgrounds with dedicated play areas. "My boys were able to walk across the road to get to the pond that was well stocked with fish. It was catch and release but they were very excited to pull in some big ones," shares a parent who stayed at Whispering Hills Jellystone.

Quieter camping options: For families seeking peace, consider less developed sites. "Second time at this campground. We enjoy our stays. Peaceful and great for kids. Kayaking on the lake is great. Camp staff very friendly and helpful," notes a Labor Day weekend camper at Kokosing River Campground.

Off-season advantages: Consider camping outside peak summer months. "We loved driving around to the different Amish cheese places. The jump mat was closed due to Covid, We hope to go back when it is open!" reports a family who visited Whispering Hills Jellystone RV Park in August.

Tips from RVers

Hookup considerations: Be prepared with adequate hose lengths at some parks. "Water and electricity is located in the rear area of RV, while sewer connections are toward the front. I personally used 50' of water line and 30' of sewer line," advises an RV camper at Scenic Hills RV Park.

Level site availability: Check with parks about leveling needs. "We had difficulty leveling one night in lot 3 but traded to #4 the next night and did fine. The many pull thru lots looked like a good level base," notes an RVer at Berlin RV Park & Campground.

Riverfront placement: Request specific sites for best experiences. "We had a riverfront spot for 4 nights, enjoyed our stay. 30amp, but the AC was still effective on a couple hot days," shares a camper at River Trail Crossing who appreciated the riverside location despite limited power.
