Great base camp for visiting Cedar Point

The owners are very frank about what they have here. This isn't a place to get away from it all. It's behind a car dealership and next to a fairly busy railroad. But they do offer amenities to make your stay easier.
We normally stay at State Parks, so didn't understand all the options they had, and ended up with a deluxe dual site which had more than we needed, but was a pleasant surprise.
Our site was not in the tree shaded area, but instead included a Shelter with table, a patio with furniture and a fire pit, a grill and a free-stranding sink and electricity. the sites are close together, but our neighbors were friendly and comradery was the norm.
The showers are a bit cramped, but plenty of hot water.  There are TWO heated pools, which we didn't have time to use.  Plus there's  a big bouncy hill for the kids, something I've never seen before. A good General store and friendly staff.
We spent all our time at Cedar Point, but here are things for the kids to do here, including a crafts barn.

For the price, find somewhere else

I’m all about awesome campgrounds, we’ve spent quite a bit on fancy resorts because we like them. However Sandusky KOA is not fancy. It’s sadly really run down.

Our campsite, wasn’t mowed as the grass was over the ankle. The pool is well used to put it nicely.

There wasn’t anything that really stood out as good. The secure front gate was never secure. You’re in the back by low income housing. Sirens were heard all night.

We aren’t shy about spending money on campsites, but this one was not worth the price at all!!

Good for what it is

Pros: staff was super nice and accommodating, super close to cedar point, store had just about anything you’d need, everything worked fine

Cons: very dated bathhouse (although generally clean), some of the sites need maintenance, cost

Small, very close spots.

Unless you are in the larger pull thru sites I would not recommend. Pool area was nice for kids.

Nice campground

We have stayed here twice and will definitely be back. Both times at the end of September. Nice campground, friendly staff, store is well stocked for anything you may have forgotten. The playground and jump mat for kids is awesome. They usually have some kind of activity for kids on weekends. We travel with 2 large Labrador retrievers and love being able to let them play off leash in the kamp k9 dog park. The sites are a little close together and the train is loud but other than that, it’s a wonderful place to stay. Very close to Cedar Point.

Huge campground

We went at the end of September, off peak season. Instantly notice how huge this KOA was. Whole rows of the various types of sites, lots of cabins and housing as well. Lots of kids activities as well.

We stayed at a deluxe pull thru. Very nice, good space between neighbors. Overall good KOA, no issues and we had a great trip.

Things to note: It has a very large seasonal section There are train tracks in front so you will hear the train several times a day. Very little shade (consideration for summer) Close to Cedar Point

Lots to do at the campground

This campground has lots to do on the weekends. Fairly large campground. Has nice clean pools, lots of things for the kids to do: play at the parks, rent bikes, swim, jumping pillow....all the workers that drive around are super friendly. Clean bath houses with laundry facilities and minutes away from Cedar Point.

Great place for families!

The cabins are spacious with tons of outdoor space on each cabin lot. Fishing, boats, hot tubs, and lots of other activities on the grounds. Fun things to do in the surrounding area like Perry’s Caves.

Great "base camp" location

The campground was in pretty good shape. It's location is amazing for getting around the area. We took trips to Vermillion, Put-in-Bay and Cedar Point. All within about 30 - 60 minutes of driving. The restrooms could use updating, but apart from that it's a really great campground.

nice Facility

The campground is clean and well organized. Lots of options available. We had no trouble booking a Pop Up site last minute.

WiFi weak lots of close train activity.

Nice KOA

We’ve stayed here a couple of times and rented one of the cabins. It’s a clean and well maintained KOA, but it’s gets crowded.

They have a nice campstore, restrooms, playground and and pool. It’s a good location for fishing, exploring Lake Erie or hitting Cedar Point.

It doesn’t feel like camping to me when we are so close to everyone.
