    Cross Creek Camping Resort

Big Resort with lots of trees

This is a RV resort close to a lake with a lot of seasonal campers. It is busy on the weekend but was very quiet during the week. The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly. Plenty to do for the kids. Pool looks nice, was not open yet for the season.

    River Trail Crossing

    Nice little campground

River Trail Crossing is privately owned, small campground (which we like) but nice and quiet. Sites include tents, small rigs and large pull through sites for big rigs. Sites located on the river are water and electric. Sites off the river have 50 amp and 30 amp. State route 95 runs to the right of the campsite so if you reserve any sites on the river (right side) you will have some traffic noise from the bridge. We reserved spot 32, farthest site to the right on the river. We loved it. The river was only about knee to hip deep. Most family’s floated with tubes and saw some kayaks. Not much for fishing at this particular section of the river. There is a paved bike/walking trail behind the campground - B&O trail. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. They do have 2 dumpsites available. We really enjoyed this campground, owners were very friendly and offer firewood and propane if needed. Mohican state park is only 10-15 minutes away which is really nice for hiking and fishing as well. We will be back!

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

    Excellent Campground!

Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware, Ohio is a very nice campground with friendly staff and lots of amenities! There are large back-in and pull-thru sites, each with grass, tree, picnic table, and fire pit. They are 30/50 amp with FHU. The campground has lots of fun things for the family such as swimming pool, playground, basketball, tennis, dog run, laundry, yard games, and so much more! The store is stocked with snacks, souvenirs, clothing, camping supplies, holiday decor, etc. We love the large shade trees at every site. It is a blessing on those hot summer days. All in all, a great campground! Check it out when in the area. 👍🏻😉

    Berkshire Campgrounds

    Incorrect pricing

The price advertised on The Dyrt is incorrect. It is not $38.50/day. We paid $50.29 with full hook ups. Very clean, staff very nice, but guests are not allowed without registering at the office. Many seasonal/full time residents which made for quite a bit of early morning traffic. Beautiful fishing pond with well groomed trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. Staff very pet friendly and courteous. Well appointed camp store. Water pressure excellent. Electric well within standard. Gravel pads, our site was off 2”.

    Indian Lake State Park Campground

    FHUs Sites in a field

    PROS

Able to reserve 144 days prior to arriving

Very nice campground but the design leaves a lot to be desired

Friendly camp hosts who were busy picking up trash in common areas and cleaning sites Moveable picnic table

Metal fire ring with cooking grate

Site D45 level asphalt parking pad surrounded by grass

Great view of lake from D loop; some had water access at rear of site

Quiet except for campground party animals who kept it going into the wee hours of the morning

Coin-operated laundromats in non FHU loops $1.50 wash and $1 dry

Free WIFI available and able to connect at campsite

Dump Stations at Park exit have complimentary hoses

Camp store sells hard dipped ice cream

14 miles from the Airstream Service Center in Jackson Center

    CONS

    No senior discount

$6.50 reservation fee for self made on-line reservation

Basically the FHU loops are out in a field…no privacy from neighbors and no shade what so ever

Grass around sites desperately needed mowed, if you could get thru the large mud puddles

FHU loop D has narrow roads and require driving on grass to back in trailer and some campers in other sites had to move their vehicles

Short length of campsite required creative parking of tow vehicle

Damn Canadian Geese poop every...what a mess!

Site number on electric utility box

FHU sewer connection at the back of the campsite so bring the looooong stinky slinky FHU loop D had tiny toilet building, but no showers; showers were in non-FHU loops

    Gotta Getaway RV Park

    Ok

This was an overnight stay on our way to Pennsylvania. It would be a bonus for big rigs as the pull Throughs are flat and easy to get into. We tend to prefer a back in because it usually gives us a bit more protection on the backside. Unfortunately, the site we were assigned took three blocks to level up, the the power was on the wrong side and our picnic table was in the back area of another camper. The bathroom was nice and close and handy. Some great effort has been made to make it attractive with two-tone tile but that is all overshadowed by the amount of spiders and bugs. I am a full-time RV year and shower all over the United States and this was one of the buggiest ever. The majority of this campground is for seasonals. There are some very nice seasonal lots with a small pond in their back Yard. The owner was very friendly and helpful on the phone. Serves a variety of needs.

    Tree Haven Campground

    Great first RV experience.

Great little campground. My wife and I spent a month out there in a fifth wheel to see if we like the lifestyle. Very nice pool(clean). Great walking trail back through the woods. Pet friendly and the bathrooms were very nice. Well....I guess we did! We are now in a search for a Diesel pusher to go full-time!

    Alum Creek State Park Campground

Beautiful State Park close to Columbus Ohio

Alum Creek State Park is a beautiful park and great campground just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Columbus and minutes away from attractions such as the Columbus Zoo.

The campground has good sized sites and is wooded throughout with clean bath houses, well maintained roads, and easy access for big rigs.

There is also a very nice dog park in the park including dog beaches with lake access for your pups to swim.

We love this campground and the beautiful lake and appreciate the easy access to local attractions, shopping, and more.

Most local campgrounds close for winter between late October and early May due to Ohio's seasonal weather patterns.

What to do

Kayaking on calm waters: Kokosing River Campground offers access to a peaceful lake perfect for beginning paddlers. "Kayaking on the lake is great," notes Mark B., who visited during Labor Day weekend and found the "camp staff very friendly and helpful."

Hiking nearby trails: The River Trail Crossing campground connects directly to the paved B&O trail for walking and biking. "Bike trail access right from the campground. Golf nearby, Amish shops, canoeing. Great area to visit," shares Bob M., who stayed for 4 nights at a riverfront spot.

Wildlife watching: The small, shaded grounds at Kokosing River Campground provide opportunities to observe local birds and wildlife. "Beautiful lake, nice and quiet. Lots of waterfowl," according to camper Shelly S., who visited in September when the campground wasn't crowded.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Arrowhead Lake RV Park & Campground receives praise for its maintenance. "A very well kept campground with lots of fun things to do, like hiking fishing and corn hole," says Cody R. Another reviewer noted it as "pretty nice + cheap" with large weekend sites and pull-through access.

Family activities: The Sunbury/Columbus North KOA Holiday offers numerous amenities for children. "Kids aged 3-13 all had a blast in the heated pool, on the jump pad and on the zip line swing!" reports Jennifer K., who appreciated that "there was a large amount of space available at each campsite."

Friendly seasonal community: Welcome Woods RV Campgrounds features mostly seasonal campers who create a welcoming atmosphere. "When we first arrived to the campground we originally were a little nervous but learned looks can be deceiving. The campground is mainly seasonal campers and all seemed very welcoming and nice," shares Ashley R., noting special events like hog roasts and cornhole tournaments during holiday weekends.

What you should know

Bathroom facilities vary widely: At Welcome Woods, "bathrooms come in two varieties. One is a outhouse type room... and the other is a porta potty," according to Ashley R. Meanwhile, Sunset Springs RV Resort offers "clean and modern" facilities according to reviewer Dave K.

Site leveling challenges: Some campgrounds have uneven sites requiring equipment. At Alton RV Park, one camper noted "the site we were assigned took three blocks to level up," while at Gotta Getaway RV Park, a reviewer mentioned similar leveling issues.

Wi-Fi quality differences: While most campgrounds offer limited connectivity, Sunbury KOA stands out with "best Wi-Fi I've ever had at a campground. Look for kid-specific amenities: The Alton RV Park provides a safe environment with updated facilities. "New showers and bathrooms, new laundromat, new and improved process to get to your spot, and very safe," writes Kendra P., though some reviewers note strict rule enforcement.

Consider timing your visit: Visiting midweek can offer a quieter experience. "Been pretty peaceful Tues/Weds," notes Gary G. about Sunbury KOA, contrasting with busier weekend schedules when planned activities occur.

Check seasonal activities: Many Marion area campgrounds offer special weekend events. Jennifer K. mentioned that Sunbury KOA had "so many activities through the whole Christmas in July weekend, including seeing Santa!"

Tips from RVers

Site placement impacts experience: At river-adjacent rv parks near Marion, Ohio, site selection matters. "We reserved spot 32, farthest site to the right on the river. We loved it," shares Brian E. about River Trail Crossing, noting that sites closer to the state route bridge experience more traffic noise.

Verify hookup types: Many campgrounds offer different hookup options depending on site location. At River Trail Crossing, "Sites located on the river are water and electric. Sites off the river have 50 amp and 30 amp," according to Brian E.

Check for big rig accommodations: For larger motorhomes, Sunset Springs RV Resort has made improvements to accommodate larger vehicles. "Work is underway to continuously improve the sites previously dominated by long term seasonals. New pull through are perfect for our 40 foot motorhome," shares Dave K.
