We will definitely be back

We spent a night here to celebrate my husbands birthday with a couple of our friends. The campground was great! It was well setup with lots of things to do. The only complaint I have is that the tent sites aren’t very well designated. There aren’t any markers showing where sites start and stop. We rented two sites next to each other and when we pulled up the one we were assigned was being used by someone else. Luckily the one on the other side was open so we could still set up next to each other, so it really wasn’t that big of a deal, but I’m sure if there were better markers/signage it wouldn’t have been a problem to begin with. Otherwise it’s a great campground, we are definitely planning on coming back with the kids. Lots of fun things to do.

Overall great!

Positives:

  • Clean
  • Very close to Cedar Point Park
  • Friendly staff
  • All you can eat pancake breakfast ($5)
  • Water and electrical access
  • Easy highway access
  • Roads well kept

Negatives:

  • One of the pools looks terrible (just needs a cover so you can’t see it until it gets cleaned fully)
  • There’s a highway right across the tree line. While this is nice for travel, it was also really loud each morning to wake up to.

Needs a lot of work

The good; WiFi worked well, campground was not crowded, any staff we saw were pleasant. The Bad; entire campground appears to be in disrepair, one of the 2 pools is inoperable, the other not very inviting, numerous broken down cars, buses, fire trucks in campground, sites not very well groomed, sewer hookup was missing treading, playground looked old and not kept up.

Affordable Stay Near Cedar Point

This campground is within a 15 minute drive to Cedar Point and the price point is much more affordable then the campground at Cedar Point. It was not overbooked which was nice because the lots are tiny. They had a pool which kids seemed to love.

  • Bathrooms were ok. Functioning but outdated
  • Amenities for kids: pool, bunnies to feed, park, pedal cars to rent
  • No option to select specific site
  • Tent camping is in a separate area
  • Staff is friendly

Park needs to be cleaned and monitored

Luckily we only stayed two nights but to come back and have a camper parked sideways next to our camper instead of being pulled through was a shock. People leave their garbage wherever, the showers are mediocre at best. The roads are tight. 2 pools but only one functional and dirty. Will not be back.

A Place to Sleep

We recently had a 1 night stay (weeknight) at Camp Sandusky and it seems that the reduced operations at Cedar Point coupled with our friendship Covid have taken a toll. The camp had approx 8 resident, we were the only tent. Neighboring sites had human food remains scattered around (poor maintenance). The campground pretty much sits on top of the highway which is heavily traveled as an alternate to the Turnpike, so a quiet night will not be had. Judging by the review from last year, things have totally changed as there are none of the mentioned activities available. It did serve as a place to sleep but if you are looking for family activities you may want to look elsewhere.

Very nice campgrounds!

There is so much structure and order to this campground! The grounds are laid out so nicely! One big circle with cross roads all along the way. You can camp however you'd like too! They have RV sites, tent sites and cabins. All mixed in together so you can travel with all your favorite campers. They do breakfast every morning in the front pavilion for $4.50 (all you can eat pancakes, 1 sausage and coffee) I haven't tried it yet, but its certainly popular. Laundry is open 24 hours a day and in an open area. Not the biggest fan of that due to needing to do laundry in the rain. Bathrooms are clean and standard. Row of toilet stalls and showers in a separate room. They have a stellar playground area, I don't have kids but even I was drawn to wanting to play on it. Very pet friendly around here. Close to downtown, near Cedar Point and all the other attractions over here. They have 2 pools, one being heated. We haven't had a bad rain storm while we're here but you can tell by the ground of our spot its going to be bad and super muddy. All in all this campground is pretty awesome.
