Goose Bay - MT

We stayed the first and last nights in the free sites above the marina/campground. It’s quite pretty around Canyon Ferry Lake, and being able to stay for free is great.

We stayed a night in the main campground to dump, charge, and fill. Strong power, good water, and quiet. It’s a good spot. No…

Needs Some Shade

Due to a tree fungus the Forest Service has clear cut this campground a few years ago. Now it’s low shrubs, wild flowers and blueberries. The sites are on the outside of a loop like many FS campgrounds. Water is a well with pump. The toilets are clean pit toilets. We were there mid week and only…

Views for miles

4 star rating is only due to no services and vault toilets (spotless). We had great AT&T cell service. The third Saturday in September and maybe half the sites were filled. Limited shade. People were friendly. What we could see, the views were amazing.. Unfortunately, the smoke obscured…

Don’t Stay Here

I don’t understand why this place has no reviews but I’ll be glad to give you our opinion. If there was a half a star that’s what it would get. It’s very close to an interstate, you can see the cars go by and hear the traffic all night. The site says water, 30 amp service and septic. The water…

Great place to avoid summer heat

I stayed there for a few weeks when the temperature is down in the valley started to get into the upper 90s and near 100. It was a good 10° cooler at this campsite than down in the valleys. You sit right below the continental divide with good access to the continental divide trail. The other big…

Mid week quiet

Camped mid week at this campground. There is highway noise during the day but very quiet at night. Boat launch was easy to use for me to launch my kayak. Nice paddling both directions from campground in the morning. Camp host was friendly.

Beautiful but a ton of people

Great place to camp right along the water for tents, RTTs, or campers. The problem is there were a ton of people. I arrived on a Thursday with only one other person camping within 100 yards of me. By Saturday, there were 12 different campers packed in like sardine along the same 100 yard stretch.…

Great campground for lake and ATV riding!

We stayed here for 4 nights over 4th of July weekend. The camp hosts make rounds quite often, so rules are followed pretty closely. We took ATVs and rode them to a trailhead that starts just across the highway from the campsite. Beautiful trails and a lot of them! We had campsites #1-6 and even…

  • Beautiful trail just a few miles from the campground up Hellgate Gulch Road
  • Campsite #4. There was plenty of room for a large camper, I only brought my tent.

Nice camp site but the water was not

The camp site was perfect and right on the water, but the water was full of algae. There were signs all over saying it was unsafe but people were still swimming. Didn’t want to take the risk

Beautiful

We stayed here on our way to GNP and I have to say, we absolutely loved it. At first I didn’t like how there were no trees, but honestly, it was private anyways because nobody else was there. The bathrooms were clean, which is super important to us. We enjoyed ourselves.

Summit campground

This is a campground with nice views. Could also hear the mooing of cows in the distance. There is a little bit of highway noise but it quiets down in the evening.

You get what you pay for

This is a small free BLM campground right next to the highway and next to the river. No privacy here as sites are on a treeless loop, with sites on the inside and outside of the loop. There is a nice kids fishing pond(with clearly marked signs warning about leeches in the mud!) and a boat ramp that…

Dirty and Loud

I hope we just had an off weekend cause it wasn’t a very pleasant stay. There was trash (including used toilet paper) on the grounds. The bathroom was ATROCIOUS and gross (poop smeared on the walls). Teens and young adults came and went frequently throughout the evening and night and were loud…

Well Kept BLM Campground

The campground was clean and the sites were spacious. No one enforced the quiet hours, which was an issue. Other than the lake, there isn’t much to do. During our stay there was an algae outbreak, so most people stayed out of the water. I would recommend staying somewhere else if the water isn’t…
