Harry's Flat, near Clinton, Montana, is a charming spot for those looking to escape into nature without straying too far from the comforts of home. This campground sits alongside Rock Creek, surrounded by towering old-growth ponderosa pines, offering a serene backdrop for your camping experience.

With 15 campsites, many of which provide direct access to the creek, it's a fantastic place for fishing enthusiasts. The sites come equipped with picnic tables and metal fire rings, perfect for evening gatherings. Visitors have noted that the campground is quite dark at night, so bringing a good flashlight is a must if you plan to arrive after sunset.

The area is known for its wildlife, and campers have enjoyed the sounds of nature, especially the soothing flow of the creek. While some sites are closer to the road and can be a bit noisy, the overall atmosphere is peaceful, making it a great choice for tent camping. Just be prepared for some pesky mosquitoes—bug spray is highly recommended!

If you're up for a little adventure, the drive to the campground includes some narrow, gravel roads, so keep that in mind if you're bringing a larger vehicle. Harry's Flat is a hidden treasure for those who appreciate the beauty of Montana's outdoors and want to enjoy a laid-back camping experience.

Tucked Away but Nice

It’s 16 miles off the interstate. The first 11 is tough pavement and the last 5 is rough gravel, all of it narrow so be careful. The spots are $15 a piece self service so not bad. Very dark so have plenty of light if you’re going after dark. Nice little campsite!

Nice campground on Rock Creek

Harry's Flat campground is a great campground along Rock Creek, set in a huge old growth ponderosa pine forest.  The sites are large, especially the ones bordering right up to Rock Creek. The campground has 15 campsites each with Picnic tables and metal fire rings.  The campground has vault toilets and a few bear lockers for food storage, water is available.  Not all the campsites were available during my visit as about 1/2 the campground was closed due to damage during the heavy spring and early summer rains.  This is a great spot for people interested in doing some fishing, as Rock Creek is a blue ribbon stream, with brown trout, rainbow trout, and brook trout.  Cost is $6 per night, first come first served.

Hidden gem.

This small campground is located right along Rock Creek and only 16 miles off the interstate. Campsites are non reservable, but WOW....sites 2, 3, and 5 have direct Creek access. Listening to the water at night was amazing. This stretch has a number of small campgrounds. The road is narrow, so large RVs or travel trailers are not recommended. Most of the sites better suited for tents.

Harry’s Flat

This camp ground is pretty nice. There are some spots that are right on the creek and more that are a little ways away from the water. Unfortunately when we went there were mosquitoes everywhere! Make sure you bring bug spray! Some campsites are close to the road so it’s a little noisy. But tons of great wildlife!
