Big Arm is located on Flathead Lake, the largest natural freshwater lake in the western United States. Twenty-eight miles long and 15 miles wide, Flathead Lake is renowned for its fishing.
Located on the lake's Big Arm Bay, its long pebble beach is popular with sunbathers and swimmers. Camping under a stand of mature ponderosa pine and juniper is a major attraction. The hiking trail provides excellent vistas of surrounding mountain ranges and high peaks with abundant watchable wildlife opportunities. Other opportunities include: fishing for lake trout, board sailing, boating, swimming, camping, picnicking, bicycling, hiking the 2.5 mile trail, wildlife viewing, scuba diving, and water-skiing.
This site is 2,953 feet in elevation and covers 240 acres. The campground has 41 campsites, including one wheelchair accessible site; one group campsite; and three yurts. Maximum RV/trailer length is 40 feet. Bear resistant storage lockers are available.
Yurts offer the latest in circular camping comfort. The Mission yurt is 20’ in diameter, Salish and Swan are 16’ in diameter, and the Swan yurt is ADA accessible. All yurts have furniture, electrical outlets, lights, and electric heat. Yurt sites includes a picnic table and a fire pit for cooking.
A tribal fishing license is needed for fishing at this park. Campers may stay only 14 days during a 30-day period. Pets are required to be on leashes.
Big Arm is a popular jumping-off point to Wild Horse Island, a 2,163-acre island in Flathead Lake State Park, located off the west shore of the lake. The island is home to bald eagles, bighorn sheep, yellow-pine chipmunks, and wild horses.

Plenty of available sites in October— other campers were mainly hunters (or fishers). No camp host; ADA pit toilet only one open (comfort station closed); all water was winterized & no elec hook-up available. (Fees sign— see photo-- left no indication that fees were seasonal; we were ready with our contribution but since nobody to collect, we didn’t leave it.) 24 sites (1 ADA) + 2 tipi sites, all nicely spaced & shrubbery for privacy; #1-12 by the river.
The biggest deterrent to this CG is the many trains that came through during the night— 3-4/hr, all night— and they all blasted their whistles 3-4 times each! I guess if you are immuned to that, this would be a great campsite.

Clean bathrooms and showers and clean laundry room with several washers/dryers.$2.00 per load to wash. Can't remember how much to dry. Very cool pinball machine that costs 25 cents per game. Fun fun fun! Another bathroom/shower in middle of park but I never looked inside that one. 65 sites that most have full hook-up and pull-through. A few cool tent sites with gas BBQs. Some cool looking cabins but I never looked inside one. I'm here on 8/24/2024 and RV park is sold out except 3 pull-through sites. All tent sites were full. I don't know about the cabins. Cool playground for kids and large mostly gravel dog run. Edit added: AT&T has 5G and three bars. KOA has wifi but slow slow slow I got 3MPS so instead of KOA wifi I used my iPhone Personal Hotspot that worked great. THE BAD(and reason for only 3 stars): All gravel roads and sites throughout the park. Very close together. Some sites have a very narrow strip of grass. Some of the picknick tables need to be re-painted. Unfortunately while eating breakfast you could be 2 feet away from the next RV dumping their sewer. P.U. The luxury sites don't have that problem. They are at the end of each row and only have a neighbor on the drivers side. I think well worth the extra 17 bucks. Not ADA friendly. Very hard for someone with a walker to get around because of gravel roads/sites. Someone with a wheel chair near impossible. Has a nice handicap shower in main office building. Only problem is that once I take my walker in with me it's very tight and no room to move around. Not EV car friendly. There is a$250 fine and eviction if you plug in your car. The person at the front desk told me the$250 fine and eviction is because EVs overload the outdated system and cause a fire. This KOA is an older one and was wired before EVs. Each individual site has its own 30 amp and 50 amp circuit breaker. Some trees but few and far between. No pool or hot tub. Final thoughts: Make reservations well in advance if you can. This KOA is the best game in town and is mostly sold out in summer. I think(sorry I don't know for sure) there is only one other RV park in town and from what I can tell, it is a much older one. The Missoula KOA appears to be the only game in town. I guess that is why they can charge a premium price and leave you with two choices, take it or leave it. Only problem is we could not find another place so we "took it".
This is a big and busy campground. Lots of good things about it. For example, for a premium price, you can get a site with your own private dog run. Two older but OKay hot tubs and a heated swimming pool. Bicycle and other stuff rental. Everything from tent sites, cabins, small full hook-up sites to large spacious premium sites. Despite some of the bad reviews, the staff was very friendly to us and, because of no parking for our Tesla, they were able to move us to a better site. WARNING: You are not allowed to plug in any electric car. We were warned that if we plugged in our Tesla, we would be fined and asked to leave the park immediately. The Tesla supercharger was less than two miles away so no problem for us. Wifi was great. 34 mbs. AT&T was 2 bars 5G.
The BAD: Very busy. Many days in summer they are 100 per cent booked. Make reservations early and be specific what you need. Be ready to pay a premium price, even for tent camping. Camp is old but well kept. Bathrooms are clean but very old style and shower stalls are very small and not handicapped friendly. Surrounded by lots of older double-wide's. Some well kept and some not so well kept. Not friendly to electric cars (see warning above). Several times during our stay they paused their golf cart in front of our Tesla, I assume making sure we did not plug in.

Found this on the Dyrt. About a mile off the main road. A beautiful little park with about 10-12 electric 30 and 50 amp. It’s free to camp if you don’t have electric and $30 for electric. The playground looked amazing. A nice hike up over the hill to a nice pond.

We weren’t able to reserve a site but plenty of ff first come sites. Most sites are large that will accommodate a camper and boat trailer. All are back in.
RangerWe spent two nights here. Paid $50 per night. They only accept cash or checks, no credit cards. Place was clean and well kept but like a typical RV park spaces were pretty much right next to each other. They did have full hook ups with a pool, showers and a laundromat for two dollars, each and two dollars each load. A little out of town but road noise was a little excessive. Very nice camp host though.

I’m not sure why this place isn’t 5/5! We booked this site last minute as we have been exploring Yellowstone with no registrations for overnight stays. We called at 6pm (when they close) looking for space and the host said she will stay open for 30 mins till we get there. She was so very sweet and welcoming. Site was very clean, bathrooms were the cleanest we have experienced at camp sites. And the BEST views! Nice to have a designated sink for washing dishes. No bear boxes but kept everything in the car and we were good. Very bumpy road to get to the campground but sometimes it takes a rough road to get off the beaten path :) only thing was that each site has big metal fire pits and ours was totally missing. The sites next to us were vacant so we just stole the one from there.
ScoutIn short the campground had a bear owners knew about, but didn’t inform the people booking. 3 year old child gets attacked & all campers immediately evacuated. Campground doesn’t reimburse the patrons as promised. Greedy low life’s.

Old lady was sweet to us, I saw the reviews about her being not so sweet but she was nice and got us in last minute. The gentleman brought us a whole tractor full of wood and was nice as well. Trees were down like other reviews stated, they mentioned they had a massive storm. Not something I feel they should be judged for, they were concerned about my kids and asked them to keep away from the left side because of that.

Reserved this deamy site right on the water. Tent 1 is closest to parking but has the most traffic going by to the other sites.
Pit toilet nearby and a quick drive to flushable toilets. Showers available with tokens from the camphost ($3 for 6 minutes) but camphost weren't around when I was looking so no personal experience here.

We checked in and found our site half underwater due to deluge night before. Drove around CG before going back to office and noticed ours was only site like this. "Josie" at front desk supposedly had no other FHU sites, only electric only, so we went back to ours site to figure out how to deal with. Trailer next ours decided to plug into our 1 and only outlet ( a 30 amp) with his 50 amp step down adapter. Called Josie who said this is the 2nd time today people have done this who DID not pay for electric and to unplug the people who weren't around. We did and plugged in, hooked up water, ran swere line, all while standing in 6-8 inches of disgusting water. Found out water pressure was ridiculously low ( 6-8 lbs) and bathrooms had no tp!!!! Lawn also doesn't seem to EVER be mowed. This place needs to step up there game!!!! Drop them God Sam!!!!!

Was able to snag a primitive spot for one night. This campground isnt too far off I90 near 3 Forks, MT. No cell service (ATT) at the campground but 5g at the caverns. Hosts were super friendly and nice. I was in A7 which had a nice shade tree. Did not use the facilities so can’t speak to that. They had a guest speaker that night share about the bat population in MT. Very interesting!! Be sure to unhook and get to the caverns early in the morning to get a reservation to tour. We did the Paradise tour as my son is in a wheelchair. The classic tour looked super cool though!

Best $10 campsites imaginable. I have always enjoyed able to roll up and there was an available site. Good for traders up to 23ft and even has water and power sites. Sweet little secret gem of a campground and centrally located close enough range of possibilities to go see around Central Montana. Bring bug spray.

We reserved for a night but wished we could have stayed longer. Very clean bathrooms and laundry. The sites were a bit close together but it was not full and they spaced us out. The full hookup was fantastic. The sites level. They allowed us to let our hunting dog run in the open fields. Also loved that they let their Christ light shine with a cross on the hill next to our great flag and country’s symbol of freedom.

Maybe one acceptable loop, perhaps mostly for boaters. But there are 3 other loops: nothing is labeled, so good luck in finding your spot. The Manager site is not labeled either, and she was of no help. Dry, hard ground, no trees, nothing that might make a visit enjoyable. No drinking water; arid, depressing; i kept waiting for the undead to come over the horizon.

This was the smallest campground we have ever stayed at. All hookups worked but your neighbors are truly only 4 feet away. This is not the place to go if you like hanging out outside the camper. Location to Yellowstone is great and if you only need a space to sleep and have full hookups, it’s fine.
