Bugs

Cool looking place, but the mosquitoes were unbearable when we stopped to look for a spot. We ended up packing up and leaving- I wouldn’t chance the gravel road down to this bug haven. Lots of prairie dogs skittering on the ground too, not too dog friendly.

Beautiful park

Well cared for. Most sites are electric. Didn't see any with water or sewer hookups besides the host sites. Hosts were super friendly. Only con is i wish they would move to more dark sky lighting standards, there are a lot of bright lights around the park that make it difficult to see the night…

Nice spot- secluded

Nice spot. Had the place mostly to ourselves. One RV showed up later, ran a generator for an hour but was quiet after that. Lovely view. It was REALLY windy when we arrived- parked our car as a wind break and put our tent next to it. I suspect the bug this is real, though the wind kept us from…

Not a destination but a good stopping point

This place isn’t fancy but it’s only $5 to camp for the night. As we sit here there are only two other campers here so there’s plenty of room to spread out. We did find power over in one of the pavilions if you just have to have it for awhile but it’s not available at individual campsites. There…

Large Open Sites

Fort Peck Downstream Campground is a real gem.  My son and I were there for four days, 8/29-9/1/2020.  My son is a quad and uses a power chair.

Benefits:  This campground is run by the Army Corps of Engineers, and it shows.  Well paved roads, wide spaces, lots of room between spaces, laid…

  • My son on the way to one of the fishing ponds (there are three).
  • My son with the power houses behind him. About a mile from our campsite. Note the nice trail.
  • My son headed to our motorhome from the gate house

Good to know

If all the numbered sites are taken, they have an overflow area without hookups. We were here on a late June Saturday and it was full, except for the overflow.

Another Beautiful Spot On the Shores of the Fort Peck Reservoir!

This is a similar spot to other areas located around the reservoir in that it is wide open giving you that fantastic Montana Big Sky feeling.  During the week there's hardly anyone up here so there's a good chance you won't have any neighbors.  Each site has a fire ring and picnic table.  There are…

Great campground!

Great, well kept campground.  Great views, great walking paths.  Wildlife sightings were abundant!

Reliable hook ups, clean showers. Go back every year!

Peaceful

Camped in early September. Beautiful campground with large trees. Quiet and peaceful. Has power at most sites. Sites are large and level. Will have new restrooms open next year. Army Corps of Engineers so less than $20. Half price for seniors.
