This is a great campsite. You are along a fast moving creek and the campsites are well spaced out with trees, vegetation or roads between each site. The sites themselves are well sized. Roads are narrow and curved- would not be good for a trailer unless you really knew what you were doing. Each camp site has a fire ring with grate for cooking, picnic table and plenary of room for a tent or two. We enjoyed a chilly overnight and woke to the geese nearby flying overhead. Excellent fishing opportunities as well- just bring waiters!
This is one of my favorite local riding spots. The trails are well used and vary from flat and easy to moderately difficult. Lots of bicyclers on the trails. There are some camping spots.
This is a free Montana Fishing Access Site next to the Yellowstone River north of Big Timber. There was one clean single vault toilet for about 5 sites. No water or garbage available but each site has a picnic table and fire ring. There is a boat launch for fishing. It snowed when we were there in very late September 2019. We were the only ones there the two days we waited out the snow. This is a campground where there are few public campgrounds.
I added another star as this is a quiet campground in an area with few public ones available. And, it was free.
We stayed here one night while traveling on Highway 12. This is a city park in Roundup, a small town along with a string of smaller towns along Highway 12. It is called Cow Bells
The cost is by donation that you place in a pay station near the entrance. There are flush toilets, a little dated but clean and functioning. There is a dumpster for your trash near the restrooms. I believe this is the campground for the Musselshell Rodeo.
The sites are spread out with picnic tables. You are sheltered by huge cottonwoods. While it was windy while we stayed, none of the branches fell. We were there mid September when the cottonwoods turn gold.
This was a godsend to us as we tried Deadman’s Basin but there were signs warning of rattlesnakes. Also, there was little shade there. There are few other public places to camp and in this part of Montana there is little public land.
Close to interstate and one of MT busiest truck stops. Bathrooms and laundry rooms were dirty. Sign on office door indicated that the office would open at 9am, but by 11:30 am it had still not opened. RV sites were level and clean.
A very nice small town town campground east of Montana’s front range. Several level pull-through RV sites with electricity. Dumpster and water hydrant near by in the campground. Large new community playground adjacent to the RV sites. Sparsely used in October/November. 14 day limit. We look forward to staying here again.
Found this last minute. Wide open space and also spots right next to the Yellowstone River. You can park anywhere where. We parked in the open field with lots of privacy. Has vault toilet. There are some siyrs with stone made camp rings.
This is a free campsite on the river. Lots of site available but pretty busy. It was windy while we were here and that caused quite a bit of dust to blow through all the campsites. Overall not bad.
Absolutely breathtaking views with a long, beautiful dirt road in to the campsite. The campground is rural but perfectly well equipped with vault toilets (which needed tending to when we were there TBH), rock fire rings and picnic tables. We were looking forward to exploring this gorgeous area, but Mother Nature had other plans for us. We were able to easily find a private site and set up camp and have a peaceful evening under the stars, looking forward to our hike in the morning. We went to sleep all happy and cozy. We woke up to the craziest wind storm around 1am!!! Our tent took quite a beating, we are estimating that winds were above 50mph!!! Needless to say, we were exhausted in the morning and packed up promptly and promised ourselves we would return!
Ok like the last reviewer we could not find a site in and around the Bozeman area and were headed east anyway so we call this site and finally was able to get a spot. It was really just a place to sleep for the night for us - not much to see unless you head over to the river. Sort of noisy so close to the highway so I’d ask for a back-in spot because those are somewhat more secluded and off the road. Clean bathrooms and cute shop in the office.
