But expensive for the lack of services, the cheapest site is $20. Nice large sites, two fault toilets, no Verizon cell service. Right on the water, if you like boating there is a small boat ramp. It looks like there is a water pump but it was locked when I stayed, maybe COVID or winter. Trash services are available. Bear area so make sure to store your food properly, they do have a few bear storage units. Right off the highway which is convenient but can be quiet loud.
We stayed here for one night, near the end of Sept 2020. We got lucky as it was the last night it was open for the season. Absolutely beautiful place! We were a little skeptical as we were driving there as there wasn’t much for trees but as you get closer and more into the mountains, it really becomes beautiful. It was quite and dark - it was the last day for the season. Would stay here again.
This quaint little campground is easy to get to right off the gravel road. It sits right next to the stillwater river. There's a really cool, elevated cement lookout area next to the river to set up your chairs and fish. Theres also a vault toilet and picnic spot. Across the river is a rock ledge swimmers use to dive off of into a deep pool.
Loved this campground and the beautiful trail to Pine Creek Falls. Stayed here in site 9 loop A for two nights in late August 2020. Lovely site, good shade and privacy. The hike is wonderful- beautiful scenery and shade, and the falls are spectacular. We hiked it twice with our puppy. We love this campground and will return someday.
This is not a campground for those who love being in real nature and quiet places. More of a stop over or to cut down your crack of dawn morning drive to see the wolf pack in Slough Creek (which is why we stayed). A road wraps around the campground, so you hear traffic into the night. But the elk come visit. They were right outside our tent in the morning which was fun to wake up to. Also elk poop everywhere, so bring a broom to sweep it way from where you lay your tent. The camp hosts that were there in September 2020 were soooo friendly!!! Very nice couple with great advice.
We rolled in late and were extremely disappointed with our site in the B row. Our picnic table was less than 5 feet from our neighbor's camper and we couldn't have a fire for fear of burning their car. We canceled our 2nd night as soon as the office opened the next morning…..as we walked around, we realized there are good sites- we just didn't have one. We were able to rebook in C row, where we had a lot more room(more expensive). Unfortunately, we realized the sprinkler systems will soak your stuff if you leave it out😡, but it was a good site.
This place isn't cheap, but it does include entrance to the springs, which are pretty nice. Be careful which row you book in and you should be ok. In the end, the cabins look like they are the best deal.
15 minutes from the Mammoth Hotsprings visitor center. Easy to access, no crazy potholes or anything, just a dirt road. There’s a couple cabins up that road too so I assume whomever owns them keeps the road well maintained. The first spot you come to has an incredible view which is where we stayed, but if you want something more sheltered keep going around the bend and there’s a little rocky outcropping/quarry type area. It was absolutely freezing though, the inside of the truck bed had frost in the morning (22°!)
We tried to grab a spot on a Wednesday around 1PM and they were full! Woke up around 530 to get there early and were still the 3rd car waiting. Got a beautiful spot away from the main road, close to water spigots and well kept bathrooms. Fire pits, picnic tables and bear boxes at every spot. $20 per night, easy check out, and friendly rangers. Overall great location for a night or two at Yellowstone.
