Several cabin camping options are available near Stewartstown, Pennsylvania at campgrounds such as Merry Meadows Recreation Farm and Tucquan Park Family Campground, ranging from rustic one-room cabins to fully equipped deluxe units. Cabin accommodations typically include beds, electricity, and basic furnishings with varying bathroom setups—some have private toilets while others require guests to use central bathhouse facilities. Most cabins feature refrigerators, microwaves, and dining tables, though kitchen amenities differ by location. Full bath cabins generally include shower facilities, while more rustic options may have just a toilet and sink. A visitor noted, "We stayed in one of the cabins, which had 2 beds and a bunk bed, sink and toilet, refrigerator, microwave, dining table and sofa. There was also a front porch with picnic table and fire pit."

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Codorus State Park Campground and Elk Neck State Park Campground offer state park cabin options with more basic accommodations, while private campgrounds like Elizabethtown-Hershey KOA provide cabin rentals with additional amenities. Most locations require advance reservations, especially during peak summer months. Seasonal availability varies by facility—Gifford Pinchot State Park Campground operates from mid-April through October, while others maintain year-round cabin accessibility. Pet policies differ substantially between properties, with many allowing pets in designated cabins for additional fees. According to one visitor, "We had a great time, and plan to visit here again."

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Basic cookware and utensils may be provided in fully-equipped cabins, but rustic options typically require guests to bring all cooking supplies. Fire rings or grills are standard at most cabin sites for outdoor cooking. On-site camp stores at facilities like Thousand Trails Circle M and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Quarryville offer essential groceries, firewood, and camping supplies. Since cabin accommodations vary significantly between properties, guests should verify specific amenities and requirements when making reservations. Bringing additional lighting is recommended as pathways between cabins and facilities can be quite dark at night.

      Country Acres Campground

      Lovely campground!

Country Acres is a lovely, well maintained campground. Sites are level and bath house facilities clean and modern. Friendly staff in the office. Dog friendly. Local to all the Lancaster attractions. A complimentary farmland tour is offered by bus and it was great. They take you out into an area of Amish farms and shops and make a stop at 2 of these. The fresh Amish pretzels are amazing!

      Artillery Ridge Campground

Great campsite. Fire pit, picnic table, swimming pool ( not open), miniature golf course, laundromat, bathrooms, showers, dump station, gathering areas for groups, playground, and even a horse area and stalls for horses. Dog friendly. Staff was very helpful and curious.

      Gifford Pinchot State Park Campground

We booked two nights mid October not realizing that it's duck hunting season and that hunting is allowed RIGHT by the campground - with kids everywhere. We were jolted out of sleep at 5 am by gun fire right near our site. It kept up for the next hour. In addition, the bathrooms, although clean are in poor condition. Peeling paint everywhere with bare concrete in the showers. For such a pretty site, we had a miserable stay. We left after one night.

      Codorus State Park Campground

      Hurricane camping

You just can't beat a pennsylvania park. This one is not an exception. Nice clean restroom, plenty of room. Now, what cost a star. Yes, it rained like hell. When we broke camp and go dump. The dump station was overflowing with sewer. Go to the guard shack to tell them, and find another site. None there. Can I go to an unused full hookup to dump? No! I would have to pay for the site. Two hours later, we found a place to dump for $10.

      Old Mill Stream Campground

      Never Again

The advertisements for Olde Mill Campground were disingenuous. The campsite was 20 yards from a roller coaster. The NOISE of the roller coaster and children on it screaming was as relentless and unnerving as any train we have ever slept near. There was no quiet until almost midnight. The “pull-through” site left my truck almost in the road and our 25’ Airstream slightly over the road on the backside. The site was not level. The sites were close enough to hear a neighbor’s snoring.

      Beacon Hill Camping

      Great location

We stayed here to go to the Hershey RV show—about 55 min drive. Right in the center of Amish country. Campground is adults only. It was very clean. The bathrooms were very clean with great water pressure. The roads are tight for getting into sites. Site 5 was not level side to side. We met great people there.

      Country Acres Campground

      Excellent But.

The campground is in excellent condition. The facilities are top notch. The excellence and care of the campground is evident. The 4 stars is only due to the road noise and many of the sites are on top of each other. You feel like your neighbor is at your camp fire.

    Guide to Stewartstown

Cabin accommodations near Stewartstown, Pennsylvania span from basic rustic structures to fully equipped rental units with modern amenities. The terrain in this region consists of rolling hills in Pennsylvania's Piedmont region, with elevations averaging 600-800 feet above sea level. Most cabin rentals in this area experience hot, humid summers with temperatures routinely reaching 85-90°F, while winter temperatures frequently drop below freezing, making seasonal availability an important consideration.

    What to do

Hiking trails access: At Susquehannock State Park Campground, hiking paths offer spectacular views of the Susquehanna River. "There are amazing wildflowers on that trail. One trail has two amazing specimen trees," notes David G., highlighting the natural diversity. The park features the 8.5-mile Lakeside Trail plus shorter routes with varying difficulty levels.

Disc golf courses: Gifford Pinchot State Park Campground offers two complete 18-hole disc golf courses for visitors. Catherine H. mentions, "There are a lot of trails available for hiking, biking, or riding horses," showing the park's versatility beyond standard camping activities. The courses are located in different areas of the park, providing varied terrain challenges.

Farm animal interactions: Some lodging options include unique opportunities to connect with animals. At Thousand Trails Gettysburg Farm, guests can participate in scheduled animal feeding sessions. "We LOVED the animals and fed them at the allotted time every morning and went to visit at other times," shares melissa, whose children particularly enjoyed this aspect of their stay.

Water recreation: Fishing opportunities exist at several parks with cabin accommodations. "The lake is beautiful and the trail around the lake is nice," reports Dawn T. about Codorus State Park. Rental boats are available at many locations, with fees typically ranging from $15-40 depending on boat type and rental duration.

    What campers like

Proximity to attractions: Cabin rentals near Stewartstown provide convenient access to popular destinations. "Close to Hershey World, nice campground mid week nice and few campers," notes Victoria G. about the Elizabethtown-Hershey KOA, which is approximately 35 miles from Stewartstown. This location serves as a strategic base for exploring both Amish country and theme parks.

Family-oriented activities: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Quarryville receives high marks for its extensive children's programming. "The water park is super fun for adults and kids. The entire campground is clean and very well maintained," shares Ashley S. The water park features multiple slides and splash areas designed for different age groups.

Seasonal events: Holiday-themed weekends are particularly popular at many cabin rental properties. Melissa E. recounts, "We stayed here this past Easter and they had plenty of activities for kids and adults. Easter egg hunts for kids, adult scavenger hunts for alcohol." These special event weekends typically require advance reservations as they sell out quickly.

Spacious sites: Campers frequently mention appreciating the layout and privacy of certain properties. "The sites were a little close together but still plenty of room. The pool and playground were very clean and well taken care of," observes Jen R. about Tucquan Park Family Campground, noting the balance between community and personal space.

    What you should know

Reservation timing: Peak season for cabin rentals in this region runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with weekends booking months in advance. During July and August, mid-week availability is also limited. One visitor notes, "Advance reservations are a must—this place books up fast!"

Varied bathroom setups: Cabin bathroom facilities differ significantly between properties. "The smaller bathroom stalls are pretty small but got the job done," mentions Jennifer R. about Tucquan Park. Some cabins feature only basic sink and toilet arrangements, requiring guests to use central showers.

Bedding requirements: Most rental cabins provide mattresses but require guests to bring their own linens. Scott B. cautions about natural hazards at certain properties: "Then I left and woke up with a serious case of chigger bites." Bringing appropriate insect repellent is advisable, particularly during summer months.

Seasonal closures: Thousand Trails Circle M operates from "April 7 to November 26," according to their listing information. Similarly, Gifford Pinchot's season runs "2nd Friday April to October 31," making winter cabin options more limited in the immediate Stewartstown area.

    Tips for camping with families

Pool facilities: Water amenities rank high for family satisfaction at cabin rentals. "The pool through RV sites are in the centerfield and kind of exposed to the elements but you are right across from the pool and right across from an amazing playground," reports Brian S. from Merry Meadows Recreation Farm, highlighting convenient access to swimming areas.

Playground accessibility: When selecting a cabin location, proximity to play areas can significantly impact the family experience. "It has a small beach area within the campground loop that we camped in, but the main beach is on the other side of the large Pinchot Lake," explains Danielle V., showing how facility layout affects convenience.

Evening activities: Organized nighttime events provide valuable entertainment for families. "They had a lot of events that people participated in like candy bar and regular bingo, corn hole and horse shoe tournaments and a dj," shares Jennifer R., describing the structured social opportunities at Tucquan Park Family Campground.

Cabin selection strategy: For families with multiple children, bunk bed configurations offer practical sleeping arrangements. "Our site was a level full hook up. The road on the FHU loop is narrow and hilly," notes Adam and Suzanne B., highlighting that terrain can affect accessibility even with cabin accommodations.

    Tips from RVers

Site access considerations: Many cabin rental properties also accommodate RVs, creating mixed-use campgrounds. "Long rigs will have issues in a few of the sites," warns David G. about Elk Neck State Park Campground, advising careful attention to site descriptions when reserving.

Seasonal popularity patterns: RVers note distinct occupancy trends at facilities near Stewartstown. "It gets very full on the weekends here," observes Kasey M., suggesting mid-week stays for quieter experiences. Spring and fall typically offer more availability than summer months.

Utility connections: For those comparing cabin rentals to RV options, utility details matter. "No water but the bath house was close and very clean," reports Kevin M. about Codorus State Park, highlighting that even without direct water hookups, adequate facilities exist nearby.

Campground layout impacts: RVers frequently mention site positioning relative to amenities. "When I went to leave on Sunday, as I was driving up an incline my trailer became unhitched from my tow vehicle," recounts Peggy T., illustrating how terrain can create challenges that cabin guests might not encounter.
