Busy, run-down campground

This park is a huge Thousand Trails owned resort with lots of campsites and tons of amenities. In fact, the park is so large (over 95 acres) that if you are camping with friends make sure you get sites nearby them or else you will need to drive to their site. This is a typical corporate-owned campground where they don’t seem to put a lot of money back into the campground and facilities tend to be rundown. We stayed here because we wanted to visit Gettysburg National Military Park which is about ten minutes away and definitely worth visiting.

There are lots of seasonals in the campground with “stuff” spread out everywhere around their campsites. We were in a transient section in the back of the park with long pull-thrus (about 100-feet long) that comfortably fit our RV and car. Trees lined the sides of our site which was nice for privacy and shade but the site was really narrow which didn’t leave much room for a patio to sit outside with our friends. The biggest complaint about our site was that the sewer hookup was inconveniently placed about six inches above the ground which meant that it would not drain properly (even with a slinky placed under it). There is Wi-Fi throughout the campground but you have to pay for it so we opted just to use our mobile data and Hotspot on our Verizon phone (which worked well and was 5G). Roads through the park are fairly narrow with potholes. Some roads are one-way but people don’t pay much attention to that and went whichever way they wanted, especially those in golf carts. The roads and sites are gravel and very dusty when we were there as there were lots of golf cars whipping around and trucks exceeding the 5-mph speed limit.

If you want activities and things to do in the campground, this is your place. There is a swimming pool, ball courts, fishing pond, mini golf (which was in pretty sad shape), and more. They have themed weekend events, live music, bingo, golf cart parades, and potluck. We felt the nightly price of$80 for a full hook-up site was pretty steep. We don’t use the amenities or participate in any activities so we were paying for stuff we didn’t use but if you did it may be worth it. Next time we are in the area, we will stay somewhere else.

Nice campground

We camped here in May for Memorial Day weekend. We usually avoid holidays but gave this campground a try. It was pretty full and everyone seemed to have a golf cart. They were constantly driving past our site. This is the first time I’ve stayed where there were so many golf carts. It was a bit noisy. The site was pretty level and an okay side. Our site was separated from our neighbors site with nice foliage. There is s large seasonal section and lots of activities. A yard sale, vendor sale, golf cart parade, as well as other activities going on. The campground offers free mini golf, a pool and a splash pad pool area. The store didn’t have much for the size of the campground and store itself. They have a snack bar that sells prepared food. Visiting the outlets or Gettysburg battlefield is close by. I would stay here again.

Not Great

We were not impressed with this campground. Many seasonal campers and lot of those sites didn’t look well maintained. The roads are very confusing and difficult to navigate. Many of the sites are on annoying slope where the table/fire pit is not level to the camper. The “store” had virtually nothing in it. In my opinion as a mom of small kids maybe the worst part was that there was only 1 playground, it was all the way at the front of the campground (we had to drive to it) and it was very junky and run down. In a campground that size I would expect at least 2 playgrounds. For the price I paid per night ($110) I expected better all around.

Best One Yet!

This is only our 2nd trip with our camper but this was an awesome camping resort. There seem to be a lot of seasonal campers but everyone was extremely nice and welcoming. We had a pull-through site with W/S/E, which made dumping, etc much easier that pulling to a dump site. We used the bathhouses for our showers and they were much cleaner and better than others we’ve been in. The bathhouses could definitely use some upgrading for the money that place probably takes in each season. Additionally, the camp store has some grocery items that may have been forgotten but the store is lacking in others I’ve been in. The pool with the slide was very clean. We would definitely go back to this place again despite the couple of cons. We have possibly considered becoming “seasonals” ourselves at this place. Everyone here pretty much has golf carts & drives them everywhere. For some places within the campground, it’s hard to find regular car/truck parking.

Summer fun

Great campground, close to Gettysburg but far enough to escape. 2 pools which is a bonus. Many folks have golf carts, as the campground is huge—and you can get turned around easily. Sites are well maintained, clean, wooded, and in the area we are in are spaced nicely. A bit pricey esp. without many of the amenities open (slide, food bar, games) due to staffing shortage—affecting every business though. Everyone is super Friendly and helpful. Pets welcomed and well behaved. Quiet during the week, weekends quite busy.

Great campground

It’s a nice campground with a lot of amenities for all. Everyone whom I had contact with that had season sites were very friendly and provided some good info. It’s literally like a mile from downtown Gettysburg, which also has a lot of different things to do. Overall I would def recommend this campground to someone and I would also go back myself.
