Got bed bugs? They do.

Stayed in cabin 202 for a Fri- Sun and on our last morning we found a bed bug on our clothing. While they gave a refund it does not come close to cover the time and energy of remediating all of our clothing, sheets, and blankets. We also had to throw out items that could not be cleaned properly and now have to replace them(pillows, shoes, etc). My husband has 23 bites over the course of 2 nights. They burn and itch very badly. I truly hope this was a hiccup for them and they go through correct methods of having the cabin treated properly.

UPDATE: A recount of the bites- my husband has 31 bites so far. The remediation of all of our items is exhausting. All the blankets, clothing, suit cases, all the other items we used in the cabin needs to be cleaned. We had to throw out our shoes because they shrunk in the dryer. Spent$$$ replacing shoes for a family for 4. Pillows are not cheap to replace either. I bought a new corset at the renfest this weekend that I'm hoping doesn't get ruined when it goes through the dryer. That too was expensive. So if you're looking to have to spend a bunch of extra money to replace items you didn't want to replace in the first place- I recommend staying here.

Expensive/Not a Great Value

Camp site wasn’t level at all. I was actually kind of worried that it would slide into the woods. Pool was dirty. Ran out of hot water. Got chided by the golf cart police for driving >20 mph. Stayed at nicer campgrounds for significantly less money.

Pretty Standard KOA

Pretty typical KOA. Level gravel sites. Reasonable WiFi clean adequate bathrooms. The location worked for my trip but not sure it’s that convenient to DC.

Overall great experience

I stayed here for one night and had a great experience. After checking in, I followed an employee (Darnell) in his golf cart to my RV spot, which was helpful and he was super nice. The staff was very friendly, the grounds were clean and well maintained. The campground store had a great variety or merchandise and camping essentials. I was also fortunate enough to have awesome neighbors that shared their travel stories with me. Overall, I would be happy to stay here again.

Great for Kids!

We stopped at the DC KOA as a base to visit the Capitol. This is not a site for nature lovers but is perfect for kids. We had a site near the pool, outdoor chess set, jumping pillow and gaga ball pit. Our kids (9, 10 and 14) all had fun and made friends. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Convenient location but needs work

Close to DC but they didn’t let us know ahead of time that the shuttle wasn’t working. That was super disappointing. Sites are close and need service. Sandy dirt covered. They could add gravel or grass and a plant or two near the sewer pipes to help. The store charged me for wood twice and I’m still waiting on a refund.

Very Warm in the Summer

The layout is nice and the grass tent pads have real grass, not gravel. Many of the tent sites are not shaded though. This makes the hot summer even hotter.

Weird little place

Talk about being right up the butt of watching other people and being in Washington DC it's not cheaper than a hotel and it's much more inconvenient.

So so

Nothing horrible, nothing great. Stayed in back area for privacy (76-79 range). Sites were moderately uneven. Bathrooms very clean. Quiet campground with some traffic noise. Jump pillow, which kids were looking forward to, was only open 12-6, wish those hours were expanding to morning when not so hot and when kids are awake early.

Good & Bad

Pros: fairly decent wi-if, pool, hiking trails, close to DC, Annapolis and Baltimore Cons: terribly uneven gravel site, not a lot of shade, guest fee of $5/person+$5 per car (we are visiting where we grew up so lots of friends here—didn’t have one guest come because of the fee)

Clean, quiet and peaceful

After a peaceful protest,my sister, nephew and I stayed in a cabin for 1 night. We all slept well in the clean and comfortable cabin. The campground is a safe place for families.

Great family spot

They have a nice area for kids (pool, playground, jumping pillow, basketball courts, giant chess, etc). If you get an area to back into it’ll be more secluded, but the pull through spots offer no privacy. We enjoyed our stay. We would come again.

Centrally Located

We only spent three nights there. Staff was friendly and helpful with any information we needed. Nice play ground for the kids. They also really enjoyed the jumping pillow. We did not take our dog this time with us but would seriously consider it next time. They have a nice dog area for the dog to be able to run around and exercise which a lot of places we have been do not have a place for the dog to really exercise. It was centrally located between Annapolis, Baltimore, and DC. This trip we spent most of our time in DC and only went to Annapolis one night. But there is a ton to do around the cities with or without kids. Pretty clean showers and bathrooms. I didnt like that non potty trained kids are not allowed to swim in their pool. Luckily we only have a 9 month old currently that isn’t potty trained so she didn’t care if she was in the pool or not but I could see where it would be a problem trying to explain to a 2-3 year old that they aren’t allowed to go swimming especIally wIth older siblings. There was a lot of sand at this campground so I felt like I was fighting a losing battle trying to keep it out of the camper and with the sand came ants. we had a lot of ants at our campsite. They didn’t cause any problems and were never in our camper or in our food when we ate outside but they were there and it was evident that there were a lot of ants. I would recommend this campground if you have kids over the age of three and pets. We will go back but we will have to wait a couple of years so our daughter can use the pool with her older siblings when we go back.
