Hikers and wildlife watchers find extensive trail networks leading down to Deer Creek and the Susquehanna River at this forested state park campground. The facility operates two loops, with one featuring electric hookups and cabins while the other provides walk-in tent sites for those preferring a more primitive experience.
Recently renovated bathhouses serve both camping areas, and potable water is available at multiple locations throughout each loop. The terrain slopes significantly toward the water, creating what David G. describes as "lots of long scenic hiking trails down to Deer creek and to the Susquehanna River." A bike trail connects to the Conowingo dam area, though campers should prepare for a challenging uphill return ride.
The campground sits within walking distance of scenic overlooks and provides access to specimen trees along certain trails. Eagle watching opportunities exist near the dam, particularly during migration periods. Sites range from basic tent spots to full hookup options accommodating RVs with electric, water, and sewer connections.
Campers exploring the region can find places to camp around Drumore or consider Muddy Run Recreation Park for additional water access options. Reservations are recommended, and pets are welcome throughout the facility.
