Michigan Valley Campground is located in eastern Kansas on the shores of Pomona Lake. The scenic park appeals to family campers, sportsmen and water sport enthusiasts. The reservoir covers 4,000 acres and offers excellent fishing and boating opportunities.

Fishing, boating, picnicking,and hunting are favorite activities on and around Pomona Lake. The lake's fish and wildlife resources provide ample opportunities for sportsmen and women.  
  
Three nearby trails meander around Pomona Lake, providing visitors with hiking and nature study opportunities. Deer Creek Nature Trail and Witches' Broom Trail are short trails for hikers. The Black Hawk Trail offers a 33 mile loop with several trailheads and is a popular hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking path.

## Facilities

Michigan Valley Campground offers 87 campsites, 51 of which have electric and water hookups. Three additional group picnic shelters have electric hookups. Other amenities include flush and vault toilets, a shower building, playground, basketball court, swim beach and dump station.

Pomona Lake is situated among the rolling hills, mixed grasslands, croplands and forests of eastern Kansas. Wildlife and numerous species of birds can be observed at this secluded, heavily shaded campground. Bald eagles, white-tailed deer, Canada geese, wild turkey, crappie, walleye, channel catfish and other wildlife can be found here.

A visitor center is located a short distance from the park and provides educational displays about the lake and its environment.

Melvern Lake impounds nearly 7,000 acres of water on the upper reaches of the Marais des Cygnes River Valley. Boating and swimming are popular activities on the lake. Anglers will find walleye, crappie, channel and flathead catfish, as well as black, striped, white and smallmouth bass. The 18,000 acres of land surrounding Melvern Lake provide plentiful hiking and hunting opportunities. Several trails wind around the lake, including a 1 mile trail located in the campground connecting to the day-use area. Hunters may find deer, quail, turkeys, ducks, rabbits and squirrels throughout the area.

## Facilities

The campground offers two group camps. One offers a group campsite with basic amenities, a pit privy, and a shelter with a grill, water, and electricity.   
The second offers 12 camp pads with 50 amp electric and water utilities, a restroom, a shelter with grill, and a playground.   
There are 43 family campsites, many with water and electric hook-ups, throughout the park. Several family picnic sites are available on a first-come-first-served basis.   
  
Amenities include flush and vault toilets, showers, drinking water and a dump station. A boat ramp, dock, fish cleaning station and three playgrounds all provide additional recreation opportunities.

The campground offers 47 campsites, 33 of which have electric hookups. Site 1 is an accessible site with 50-amp electric, water and sewer hookups. Sites 2-8, 34-43, 50 and 55 have 30-amp electric with water hookups. Sites 44-49, 51-54 and 56-60 are basic 30-amp electric. Two group day-use picnic shelters with electric hookups are available as well. Several family picnic sites can be used on a first come, first served basis.   
  
Amenities include flush and vault toilets, showers, drinking water and a dump station. A boat ramp, dock, marina and fish cleaning station are located on-site, as are an overlook, two nature trails, three playgrounds and a swim beach.

Located 30 miles south of Topeka on the south shore of Pomona Reservoir, about 1 mile north of K-268 on K-368, north of E. 229St.

This 490-acre park on the shore of 4,000-acre Pomona Reservoir features scenic beauty as well as an abundance of wildlife. Well-known by northeast Kansas residents for shady campsites and a great family atmosphere, Pomona State Park is in a transition zone from prairie to eastern woodlands and also offers great wildlife viewing. The park is nestled in an area with historical connections to the Santa Fe Trail, as well as easy access to several metropolitan areas.

The lake is popular with water skiers and anglers. Visitors can expect good crappie, catfish, white bass, and wiper fishing.
