    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Campgrounds near Hutchinson, Kansas include a mix of state parks, RV resorts, and primitive sites within a 30-mile radius. Sand Hills State Park Campground provides developed tent and RV sites with electric hookups, showers, and drinking water just 4 miles from the Kansas fairgrounds. Other options include Lighthouse Landing RV Park and Cabins in South Hutchinson offering cabin accommodations alongside traditional camping, and Deweese Campground featuring more rustic riverside campsites. The region includes both public recreation areas and privately managed facilities, with several locations providing full hookups for RVs while also accommodating tent campers.

Most campgrounds in the Hutchinson area maintain year-round accessibility, though seasonal considerations affect amenities and comfort. Temperatures can range widely across seasons, with summer highs regularly exceeding 90°F and winter lows dropping below freezing. "I camp here often, it is free and away from people, very peaceful," noted one visitor about Deweese Campground, highlighting the area's quieter options. Water access varies significantly between locations, with some campgrounds situated along rivers or lakes while others are set in more prairie-like environments. Cell service is generally reliable near established campgrounds, though coverage may decrease at more remote sites. Reservations are recommended for developed campgrounds, especially during fair season and summer weekends.

Campers report varying experiences with amenities and privacy across the region's campgrounds. Several visitors mentioned the cleanliness of facilities at Sand Hills State Park, with one review noting "showers were nice" though "they were over run with bugs" in early spring. Deweese Campground receives consistent praise for its riverside setting and natural surroundings, with reviews highlighting the opportunity to hear "lots of nature noises. Birds, frogs, owls and more." RV parks like Wichita's Spring Lake RV Resort offer more amenities including swimming pools and weekend activities, while primitive sites provide more solitude but fewer facilities. Many camping areas feature level sites suitable for both tents and RVs, though shade can be limited at some locations, as one reviewer noted about Lighthouse Landing: "Sites are still being made, not all sites have picnic tables or fire pits. NO SHADE!"

      Lyons City Campground

      No longer open

I’m a resident of Lyons and just wanted to inform that this campground is no longer open/available for use. Most if not all of the hookups have been removed.

      Good stop

Nice little campground. Not fancy but everything you need for a day or two recharge. Hot clean showers and restrooms, and a good restaurant right next door.

      Hillsboro Cove

      Great waterfront spots

Nice place to be if you’re visiting in the area, or love water sports – it looks like. Many of the sites adjacent to the water are very nice. Our site was nice and secluded. Level and one of the better sites.

      Venango Park

      Lakefront camp with amenities

This location have several camping loops nearby. We stayed in Loop B so that we'd have power to run our fans during 90 degree temps while visiting in June. A Power location at this time cost us $22 for the night. Each sight has a picnic table, fire ring and level, gravel road access. There is a shower house/ toilets within easy walking distance of camp. Some camp spots have no power if you dont need it. Very clean park, appears well maintained, would stay here again

      Love's RV Stop-McPherson KS 608

      Perfect overnight stop

Super clean with lots of amenities; dog park, basketball, pickleball, frisbee, grills, covered picnic tables, large and very sturdy concrete tornado shelter (had to use it through a storm with 100mph gusts because…well…. when in Kansas!), showers and bathrooms on site also. All sites are ENORMOUS, level, well lit, and full hookup. Definitely stay here while passing through. Only drawback is no shade and it took HOURS to cool travel trailer down.

      Perfect place to stay

Nice and clean, well kept, was disappointed that they will call you and complain at the drop of a hat if your dog barks once.
