Deweese Campground, near the heart of Kansas, is a laid-back spot that welcomes campers looking for a simple escape into nature. With a few sites nestled along the river, you can enjoy a peaceful riverside view while soaking in the sounds of birds, frogs, and the occasional owl.

The campground is known for its well-maintained grounds and vault toilets, making it a decent choice for a night under the stars. Visitors have mentioned the absence of trash cans and the presence of some road noise, but many appreciate the natural ambiance that surrounds them. One camper noted, “I can hear lots of nature noises,” which adds to the charm of the place.

If you’re up for a little adventure, the dirt road leading to the campground is passable for RVs, though it might get tricky in wet weather. There’s plenty of shade and fire pits available, perfect for those cozy campfire evenings. Just keep in mind that you’ll need to bring your own firewood and drinking water, as those amenities aren’t provided.

For those who enjoy a bit of wildlife, you might even spot an armadillo wandering around. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick overnight stay or planning a longer retreat, Deweese Campground offers a straightforward camping experience that lets you unwind and connect with nature.

Nice spot for a night

Seems like a nice spot for the night. I appear to be the only person here tonight but have had several cars drive through. There is a vault toilet here but no doors. I dont see any trash cans here. I can hear a little road noise but I also hear lots of nature noises. Birds, frogs, owls and more. I would probably stop here again if it was on my way.

GPS coordinates are for the entrance, drive down the dirt road and take first right or continue on for more sites. Lots of shade and fire pits bathroom however is at the second location further up the road. We were the only ones in the campground. There is a nearby shooting range which you can hear but closes in the evening and then all is quiet. There is a dumpster along the dirt road.

Dirt road passable in our 26 foot class C RV with some navigable ruts, may be worse in wet weather. There was quite a bit of bugs as well and an armadillo.

AT&T and Verizon cell reception was adequate.
