Stunning Hidden Find

This place is incredible! Right by a lake, this campground is extremely well maintained and spacious. You can sit at a picnic table, under luscious trees overlooking the lake and the houses beyond. There are RV spots and primitive campsites, and if you go Sunday-Thursday, those primitive sites are…

Lovely

Needed a place in this area. It’s lovely. Grass, shade, fire rings, picnic tree tables, water and electricity in season, at least. Paying is awkward. They want you to prepay at the courthouse. I’m going to send a check afterwards. No doors on the toilet stalls, which is a bit weird.

Great little local campground!

There are about 12 sites with water and electricity. A clean-out is available but no sewer hookups at the RV site. There is a fee of $20 per night on the honor system. This park has a lot of mature shade trees and concrete walking/biking path along the river, but the trees at the camp sits are…

Quiet and secluded

I stayed in the very back one because it was one of the only ones open. I did t need it but if I did the big covered picnic area is very nice. The area is well taken care of but does have nice foresty area around it.

Nice small campground

Located in a small town, it is a pretty local park. Next to a pond and a golf court.

Dirty bathrooms

We came in the late afternoon on a Friday in October. Drove from the interstate. We saw the sign & turned. We became completely lost. I picked up a map at the office, which was closed, but it didn't help. We drove around then came back to the office. There was a conservation officer in the…

Great spot for a quick stop over.

No campers when I rolled in. Power at six spots though I’m rooftop camping so not needed. NOTE: the phone number above is no longer the contact for the park, but they were incredibly gracious to scope it out and let me know that all spots were open via text. Please omit the phone number so they…

Eh ...

Found a nice primitive spot, but up hammocks, then teenagers showed up and played loud music and partied all night. Not much peace

Great Stopover or Spend a few days

We were traveling back to Oklahoma from South Dakota and needed a place to break up the drive. On the way up we just stopped in a Cracker Barrel parking lot. This time we wanted to enjoy a campground in the morning before pulling out on the last stretch of drive.

Lucas Park was perfect. We pulled…

Roomy with showers

I camped there in early October and this campground appeared to have multiple spots for campers with horses. There were numerous horse pens along with some dispersed camping area. There looked to be a trail for horse riding nearby. It was a short walk to the showers, which were nice and warm. …

Please clean up after yourself

This is one of my favorite lakes to camp near and my husband and I have camped in several campgrounds there. Recently, we stayed in the Caving Banks campground on the south side of the lake. This is a primitive campground that is near the water. Our site was private and mostly surrounding by…

Rockwall Site 51

This is probably one of the better sites. It's fairly secluded from the others and is adjacent to the lake where you can get some pretty decent views of the sunset. The picnic area and awnings are massive which is suprising as it really only has one good tent spot. Granted if it was raining and…

Just gorgeous!!

While we didn’t think we’d find anything as great as our Ft Benning stay, this one is! Different purpose - Ft Benning is for hiking, trail running. This one is for water. The sites in the 10s with water/electricity have water within close walking distance but no hookup. The water/electricity in the…
