We travel between Charleston,SC and Omaha, NE several times a year and always stay here on return trip. Long first day drive, but so handy and staff couldn’t be more accommodating to our late arrivals. Just far enough from Interstate so noise isn’t an issue. Lots of services at the same exit.
This is a nice campground on Rend Lake. The sites themselves are nice and the lake is beautiful! Our only issue is that the sites on not very level. Ours had a significant slope when we backed up the electric hookups. But it was a concrete pad with a concrete picnic table, firepit, and a tall hook for a light or garbage out of bear's reach. We saw a nice playground for kids. We would stay here again, just scout for a more level site.
It's a small campground that offers a playground, bathhouse, hiking trails, and a small swimming area. There is easy access walking down to the marina. With small towns close to this state park.
We’ve Camped At Gun A Few Times Now And Have Had A Great Experience Every Time!!
Gun Creek has many sites for all campers. For cheap you get a simple site with electric or for not too much more there are sites with water and sewage dump.
Great stay, stayed an extra night and played some mini-golf. The mini-golf is perfect too, they did a great job. Saloon open on the weekends, ice cream available too. Would recommend and stay again.
They have just redone this camp ground with new concrete pads, new bathhouse, and new electrical. It’s very peaceful. Some people may leave their camper there all season but that’s only a couple of spots. Not bad for a small campground in a small community.
New campground with putt putt, playground, restaurant, cabins, driving range, and ice cream parlor. It was just built a few years ago and has already grown bigger and bigger. There are always RV’s there. Once the trees grow bigger, it’ll be awesome. Not too crowded. Clean. Basically a great place for a pit stop on your way somewhere else.
Everything was clean and exactly what you’d expect from an Indiana state park. This is a big campground so things are a bit cramped but we went on a rainy weekend so we had plenty of room. There is a pool in the park (closed to do COVID) and decent hiking trails.
Seriously though…. this campground is perfect for children. Beautiful nature trails, multiple playgrounds, a lake for fishing, and a nature center. Our family comes here often for a quick and easy getaway. There are a few downsides though. Pit toilets. No electric. That’s it. I honestly don’t know why more don’t come here….
