Nice rural camping

General: 40-site campground with three non-electric and the rest are either 30 or 50-amp electric. Several water spigots are sprinkled throughout the campground.

Site quality: All sites are gravel and level. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. The sites are spaced a decent amount of distance apart and with the many trees, it did not feel crowded, despite being almost full when we were there.

Bath/Shower: Very clean with soap, paper towels, and a shelf for toiletries. Did not use the shower but it looked clean as well.

Activities/Amenities: There are two well-marked and well-maintained trails plus a playground and basketball hoop. There is also a historic schoolhouse, and guided tours are available by calling. Before leaving the next morning, I enjoyed a walk on the two trails. There is a dump station and potable water.

The campground was almost completely full on a Friday at the end of October yet very quiet.

Clean, spacious sites, nice amenities

Friends Creek is a small campground with nice spacious sites and super clean bathhouses and pit toilets. The fire pits are well kept and the camp host was very kind! He came around with suckers for the kids and just to check in. We hiked a bit on the trails and played in the creek. Highly recommend.

Fabulous park

We've been here a couple of times and love it. Very clean bathrooms, very well manicured landscaping. The camp host and his son are absolutely wonderful people who clearly love the park very much.

Frankly everyone we spoke with has a true love and passion for this campground.

It has a little creek but this is NOT a water rec kind of campground.

The sites are spacious, they just put in electric this year which is nice, water available but not per site.

Great trails with lots of gorgeous old oaks. The old school house is a must see.

If you want to venture off there are plenty of little towns to check out or larger areas just a short drive to check out.

If you're looking for a quiet relaxing place to camp for a few days or just passing through this is a great choice!

We love mushroom hunting while here.

Hidden gem

This campground is a true hidden gem. Lovely, treed, clean and quiet. Tent and RV sites, including 50 amp sites! Book online and enjoy real solitude. We have just been able to do overnight stays, but would love to stay a few days to recharge.

Green Paradise

The best kept secret in Argenta, Illinois. We’re from Arizona and the lush green makes me speechless. The camp spaces are spaced far apart for privacy. The bathroom and showers are immaculate. We can’t say enough about Friends Creek.

Hidden among the farms - well-manicured camping

In mid-Illinois a campground waits for you. Well tended grassy sites with an impeccable grassy picnicking area. There was plenty of room in our site but most of the campground is empty. It would feel more crowded when full due to a lack of vegetation between sites. We grabbed a non-electric site but most have electric. The showers/restrooms are centrally located and could be crowded if the camp was full.

We set up and walked some in the trails. The conservation area extends across the road and that’s where most of the trails are. Start at the one room schoolhouse and make your way down wide trails. They aren’t that long but take a few and they add up. Stay on the camp side of the road and you can find large grassy areas with playgrounds and picnic shelters. A few trails are on this side too.

Clinton Lake Recreation area is just down the road if you want to fish or bring some watercraft.

One note: if you reserve a camping spot it’s just to have a site. Specific campsites aren’t reserved. Get here early and you have your choice.

This is a nice mid-Illinois campground!

Quiet. Clean. Relaxing!

We are so fortunate to have this campground in our back yard - only 20 minutes away. The host is super friendly and accommodating, the bathhouse and flushing toilets were always clean, and with it being a smaller campground it was always quiet. They said they clean and sanitize the bathrooms daily and I believe it.

They keep it well maintained and the grounds manicured, cutting down in bugs quite a bit. I loved that between some of the camp sites, they left a patch of prairie to act as a privacy barrier. If you camp on the west side, towards the open prairie, you’ll have a great breeze most of the day!

There is a playground at the park entrance, pavilion for rent to host parties, and trails both on the camping side and across the road near the historic Bethel School House. You can walk down along the river bank for shade or on the mowed path within the open prairie.

We quickly fell in love with Friend’s Creek and will definitely be back.

Wonderful Gem in Farm Country

This hidden gem of a campground is very quiet and serene - surrounded by tall trees and next to a tall grass prairie conservation area - complete with historic schoolhouse, mowed trails to a nearby creek, gentle rolling hills, trees, birds & wildlife and a small bridge. Best place to stop in central Illinois - 13 miles from Decatur
