Magic Reservoir

Boundary Campground is a developed, fee, non-reservation campground composed of 9 campsites located on Trail Creek approximately 2 miles northeast of the Sun Valley Resort Village. The 4-unit Boundary Picnic Area is adjacent to the campground and shares a vault toilet and hand pump for drinking water with it. The campground and picnic area are open the Friday before Memorial Day to September 30 annually. A Campground Host typically occupies campsite #1 from mid-June to the end of September to help manage the area and provide visitor information. Amenities include drinking water from a hand pump; 2 vault toilets; refuse service; and a fire ring, grill stand, and picnic table in each site. Campsites also have a designated location to pitch a tent. Camp and picnic sites have hardened aprons allowing wheelchair access. Access roads and parking spurs are gravel. Toilets are ADA-accessible. Dogs must be leashed in the campground and picnic area, and their soilid waste picked up and disposed of properly by their owners. Stock is not permitted. Campsite #7 is a double unit. All other campsites are single units. Check-out time is 2:00 pm. The campground and picnic area are mostly open with large cottonwood trees providing intermittent shade. The campground has beautiful views of Bald Mountain Ski Area to the west.

## Overview

North Fork Campground is situated on the banks of the beautiful Big Wood River at an elevation of 6,300 feet. Visitors enjoy fishing and tubing on the river and exploring the Harriman Trail.

## Recreation

This site is part of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, where outdoor activities abound. Fly-fishing for rainbow, brown and brook trout is popular on the Big Wood River, as is float tubing.   
  
The 20-mile Harriman Trail leads past the campground, offering excellent hiking and biking. Numerous additional trails spur off the Harriman Trail leading to deep canyons, sparkling lakes, swimming holes and more excellent high country fishing.

## Facilities

The campground contains several family sites, some of which are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. Firewood is available for purchase from the host. Roads and parking spurs are gravel. 

## Natural Features

A scenic aspen forest covers North Fork, offering plentiful shade. Pines dot the landscape and colorful summer wildflowers are abundant. Willows and grasses line the riverbank. Temperatures are cool with an average summer high of 78 degrees and a low of 40 degrees. 

## Nearby Attractions

The Sawtooth National Recreation Area Visitor Center is 1/2-mile from the campground, with a small museum, bookstore and area information. An RV dump station and drinking water are located here as well.   
  
Easley Hot Springs is 6 miles north, offering a swimming pool, hot tubs, showers and a small store.  
  
Popular area events include Wagon Days in Ketchum in September.

North Fork Campground - Sawtooth National Forest

The property has so much history. Larry purchased the 16 acres in 1972 as nothing but a field. His dream was to raise Arabian Horses, so that is what the property was set up to do and he did just that, very successfully. We did convert a few acres into a Market Garden a few years ago and started Kraay's Market & Garden, you can find us online. We would love to share our place with you! Please note: there is only one 30 amp hookup available per night, please request at time of arrival if needed.

The 42 sites are available on a first come-first served basis; no reservations are accepted.

Cost

$15 per site during the main season and $8 per site when water is not turned on to the campground. The cost is half-price with Senior or Access passes. Pay with a credit card at any time on the automated fee machine located near the campground entrance. No fee is charged when the Loop Road is closed.

Sites #34, 35, 42 & 3 are fully accessible. Site #34 contains an electrical outlet for use by those with medical needs.
There are no hookups, showers, or waste water dump stations. Large RVs and trailers can be accommodated in a limited number of sites.

Craters of the Moon Wilderness

Bowns Campground, located 25 miles east of Featherville and 18 miles north of Fairfield, is a developed campground composed of 10 units along Big Smoky Creek. Two of the camp sites are double family units. Camping, fishing, hiking, and picnicking are popular activities. Campground amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, drinking water (seasonally) and restrooms. Miller Creek Trail (#087) starts just south of the campground and is open to motorcycles.

Two adjacent sites on Silver Creek near Highway 93, downstream of the Nature Conservancy’s Silver Creek Preserve. Silver Creek offers good trout fishing, picnicking and camping. Long camp trailers or RVs not recommended, limited turn around options.

One of the least populated states in America, Idaho is the third state that makes up the Pacific Northwest—besides Oregon and Washington. Idaho’s wide variety in landscapes and biotopes, from arid plains to towering mountains, from pristine forests to river canyons, attract an equally varied array of visitors. Fishermen are drawn to the state’s abundant and exceptional fish species. It’s the West’s only inland state where you can catch blue-ribbon trout as well as king salmon and steelhead. Mountain bikers, rock climbers, and boaters find delight camping in Idaho’s wildernesses.


Hiking and camping in Idaho is, however, arguably the state’s most popular outdoor pursuit. And it’s available all across the state. A particularly great destination is the Boise National Forest, the location of the awesome Red Mountain Trail. Other fantastic places to go backpacking and camping in Idaho include Craters of the Moon National Monument, the remarkable Bruneau Dunes State Park and iconic Yellowstone National Park, a sliver of which lies in the state’s southeastern corner.


In the middle of southern Idaho lies Shoshone Falls, a series of huge cascades on the Snake River sometimes referred to as the “Niagara of the West”. The Snake River meanders its way further west, making up the northern part of the Oregon and Idaho border, and flows through massive Hells Canyon. Ten miles wide and almost 8,000 feet deep, this is the deepest river canyon in North America, an absolutely natural gem to explore when camping in Idaho.
