Lakes Divide Road

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

A steep but well-maintained forest road climbs into Coeur d'Alene National Forest to reach this dispersed camping area, where pull-offs are limited and sites tend to fill on weekends. Campers who continue past the first mile find more options, including a blocked forest road entrance that provides a bit of separation from through traffic. Sites are not level. One reviewer noted audible freeway noise, so light sleepers should factor that in. Dogs are welcome, and at least one site has room to walk them. Campers exploring campgrounds near Coeur d'Alene National Forest will find this a low-amenity option with no hookups or developed facilities. A high-clearance vehicle is worth considering given the road grade.

Easy to get to

The spot I found wasn’t very level but it was fine. However, there was some noise from the freeway. Overall not a bad place for the night.

Eerie

My husband and I went to this location and the first couple sites were taken and we found a rd to the left near the end and took it with a site right to the left as you turned. We were trying to get comfortable but just couldn’t. Some people showed up and were lingering around us. It was the people from the beginning of the rd. It’s off. We hope someone else enjoys it but not for us. It was a beautiful ride up the mountain though.

Definitely a place if needed

It is a steep but well maintained forest road. There was one clear pull off early and it had someone in it. Wanted some privacy so I kept going. Someone had parked on the side of the road and went past that. Found a blocked entrance to a forest road about a mile in. Wasn't flat but not bad and off the road a bit with a place to walk the dog.
