TravelerI don’t know what I was thinking when I reserved a spot with a Rushmore view…. You can see part of it if you move around. Otherwise it was quiet and close to town. We could walk no problem. Laundry, food and booze all close
ScoutStayed 5 nights while we toured Black Hills. Twyla is a great owner and very helpful. We had site 714 but they also allowed us to use 713 at the same time since those particular sites are very narrow and in a hill. She spoke of a plan to remodel the grounds sometime and combine the sites. We noticed a lot of other campgrounds don't have trees in the area. This one and Camp Welikit are the best private owned ones for shade that we saw. Kids loved the pool and they hosted an awesome grilled meal on July 4th in appreciation for the campers. Burgers, hot dogs, lots of sides; it was great to roll in that day and have a meal waiting. We would stay here again.

TravelerThe only spot open is probably considered “the first spot”. All the other spots down the road were taken so we pulled into a field across from the private road. There was a bit of traffic but nothing unbearable. All in all it was a good spot for the night.

TravelerThis is a great place to camp and ride your horses, the black hills NF is right out of the gate, trails all around with beautiful woods, the owners love to take good care of their campers and make sure everyone has a great experience! They will take you on guided rides to nearby attractions such as Mount Rushmore or Black Elk Peak, or you can rent one of their small trailers and go by yourself.
GuideCamp hosts were wonderful. No shade, Rocky level sites, looks like newish landscaping with small grass areas and short trees. Picnic table on site. Very clean laundry area, host can change bills if needed. Propane on site…really convenient to refill. Dollar General has decent selection of groceries with exception of produce. 30 minutes from Mt Rushmore, 50 from Crazy Horse. About 1.5 from Badlands National Park, but well work the drive.
GuideThis was a great spot for visiting the National Parks (Mt. Rushmore, Jewel Cave, and Wind Cave). The Crazy Horse monument to visit just up the road from the campground. Also nearby are 2 scenic drives; Needles Hwy, Mountain Rd (Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway). Beautiful scenic drives but make sure you drive them up from the Custer State Park where they begin. There 16 sites of various sizes to accommodate tents and RVs.
TravelerIt's a huge campground with over 300 campsites. Has campsites for most any camping needs. With the exception of hike in or boat in campsites. Located in Hill City along Palmer Creek. They have a fishing pond I wasn't able to list with it's amenities. Would have given them 5 stars if they hadn't changed my reserved site from a pull thru site to a back in site. That change forced me to be farther away from their general store, restaurant and main office as well as many other amenities. I must change the number of campsites they have available to in excess of 600 campsites. As well as the amenities they have available I missed checking the boxes. Including pickle ball, movies, jumping pillow, sand volleyball, and several others. It has too many amenities to list. Or that I'm taking the time to list anyway. Lol sorry just being as honest as possible.
