Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country in Manheim offers full hookup RV sites with 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections. Sites are laid out on sloping terrain requiring some leveling, with gravel pads accommodating various RV sizes. Nearby, Ben Franklin RV Park in York provides year-round camping with 50-amp full hookups and big-rig friendly pull-through sites. At Pinch Pond Family Campground, RV campers find level gravel pads with full hookup options, though the proximity to highway I76 creates noticeable road noise. Spring Gulch Resort Campground operates from March through December with 50-amp service and accommodations specifically designed for motorhomes. "The sites are mostly level, gravel, and good sized for averaged sized RV's. Larger rigs may have some issues with site length on a few sites, so check ahead of time."
Pull-through sites are available at several locations between Lancaster and Gettysburg, though many parks feature predominantly back-in spaces that require careful maneuvering. Most RV parks in the area maintain gravel roads and pads rather than concrete, with varying degrees of levelness. Dump stations are provided at nearly all locations, though some parks like Thousand Trails Gettysburg Farm offer this alongside sewer hookups at individual sites. Cell service varies significantly across the region—stronger near Lancaster and York, but potentially weaker in rural locations. Pet policies differ between parks; most allow leashed pets, though Drummer Boy Camping Resort prohibits them. Propane refilling services remain limited, so RV travelers should plan accordingly. During peak seasons from April through October, advance reservations are essential as many parks reach capacity, particularly on weekends.
"The biggest downside to this particular campground is its very close proximity to the PA Turnpike, which while convenient, might detract a bit from the peace & quiet you might be expecting when here"
"Tucked into the rolling, wooded hills of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country RV Resort offers a unique blend of peaceful countryside and activity-packed camping, all just a stone"
"There seem to be a lot of seasonal campers but everyone was extremely nice and welcoming. We had a pull-through site with W/S/E, which made dumping, etc much easier that pulling to a dump site."
"It’s a nice campground with a lot of amenities for all. Everyone whom I had contact with that had season sites were very friendly and provided some good info."
"There was a craft show in the barn which was nice. Only two dump stations for a pretty large park. We would camp here again but not over a holiday."
"The campsites available are primitive or have water and electric and bathhouses / restrooms are located in a few spots around the park. Fire rings are at each site, but appear to get moved a lot."
"The spots are a little tight but we were able to get our 46’ toy hauler in the spot with very little effort. Because the sites are back-in, we can’t use our rear patio but that is ok."
"The staff was very friendly and our site was a good location. People were all friendly and welcoming! We came in early fall with 3 kids."
"Off-season so not crowded. Pool was clean and quite good sized, had it to ourselves due to season. Did laundry while here, ample laundry room."
"We were looking for a semi-local final fall get-a-way near us. What better location for that than Gettysburg."
"While it offers nice amenities and a shuttle to Hersheypark, the campground itself is very tight, cramped, and hard to navigate."
"I stayed at HersheyPark Camping Resort with my family over the extended Easter weekend this year. "
from $50 - $60 / night
"I got an amazingly large site with a nice fire pit and picnic table. The site was very level so that was great! Nice indoor and outdoor pools! Cable TV isn't free, but I never use it anyway."
"We got pretty lucky and were assigned one of the concrete pads that was pretty level. It is absolutely beautiful out."
"While its proximity to the highway makes access easy, the property itself is gated, organized into distinct camping zones and packed with amenities that clearly cater to longer stays and families looking"
"campground so inconveniently located (more on this later) right next to highway I76."
"Well wooded campground with friendly staff and guests. The only minor complaint is that the camp store was sparsely supplied. B+ little gem of a campground."
"Showed up on Wednesday, and was assigned a spot in loop 700 up on a hill in the center of a ring of trailers, past a lot of full-timers. Cable does not work. No internet. 2 bars LTE on T-Mobile."

The staff here are amazing. Quiet time is respected, clean campground. Will come again.
Country Acres is a lovely, well maintained campground. Sites are level and bath house facilities clean and modern. Friendly staff in the office. Dog friendly. Local to all the Lancaster attractions. A complimentary farmland tour is offered by bus and it was great. They take you out into an area of Amish farms and shops and make a stop at 2 of these. The fresh Amish pretzels are amazing!
Great campsite. Fire pit, picnic table, swimming pool ( not open), miniature golf course, laundromat, bathrooms, showers, dump station, gathering areas for groups, playground, and even a horse area and stalls for horses. Dog friendly. Staff was very helpful and curious.
We booked two nights mid October not realizing that it's duck hunting season and that hunting is allowed RIGHT by the campground - with kids everywhere. We were jolted out of sleep at 5 am by gun fire right near our site. It kept up for the next hour. In addition, the bathrooms, although clean are in poor condition. Peeling paint everywhere with bare concrete in the showers. For such a pretty site, we had a miserable stay. We left after one night.
Where we were camping had blown up their dump station. Artillery Ridge helped us out. $10. to dump. If we come to camp in Gettysburg, it will be hear.
You just can't beat a pennsylvania park. This one is not an exception. Nice clean restroom, plenty of room. Now, what cost a star. Yes, it rained like hell. When we broke camp and go dump. The dump station was overflowing with sewer. Go to the guard shack to tell them, and find another site. None there. Can I go to an unused full hookup to dump? No! I would have to pay for the site. Two hours later, we found a place to dump for $10.
The advertisements for Olde Mill Campground were disingenuous. The campsite was 20 yards from a roller coaster. The NOISE of the roller coaster and children on it screaming was as relentless and unnerving as any train we have ever slept near. There was no quiet until almost midnight. The “pull-through” site left my truck almost in the road and our 25’ Airstream slightly over the road on the backside. The site was not level. The sites were close enough to hear a neighbor’s snoring.
This pet friendly campground in Caledonia State Park is .8 miles from the larger Chinquapin campground (no pets), ranger station and swimming pool. Our site #171 was level, paved, full hook ups and next to modern clean bathrooms with flush toilets, warm showers and outside dish washing sinks. Many available sites with and without services on a Sunday in October. There were a good number of friendly, tidy, long term campers with large wall tents. (They allow 21 day stays after Labor Day)
RV parks near Emigsville, Pennsylvania offer varying terrain challenges across 60 miles of Central Pennsylvania countryside. Most campgrounds sit at elevations between 400-700 feet, with seasonal temperature ranges from 30°F in winter to 85°F in summer. Sites between Lancaster and York counties frequently experience afternoon thunderstorms from June through August, requiring proper awning management and drainage considerations.
Fishing opportunities: 5 miles from Thousand Trails Gettysburg Farm where visitors can enjoy the stocked pond. "We chose a non-sewage site, the loop is quiet and large and they have the honey wagon 3x a week (free sewage dump service). We've enjoyed mini-golf, feeding the animals, 'hiking' through the cornfield, fishing, and campfires," notes Kasey M.
Amish countryside exploration: 20 minutes from Manheim campsites. The Pennsylvania Dutch areas provide unique cultural experiences. According to Jill R. from Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country, "Not much for amenities, but I loved the surrounding dutch/Amish towns! It was pretty cool to seemingly step back in time."
Shooting ranges nearby: Within earshot of several campgrounds. While convenient for shooting enthusiasts, noise can affect relaxation. "If you enjoy sitting outside of your camper and relaxing this might be nerve wracking," warns Tara N. about Pinch Pond Family Campground, where "a shooting range right next door... is pretty consistent from lunch to dinner."
Animal interactions: Farm experiences at rural locations. At Thousand Trails Gettysburg Farm, campers can participate in daily animal feeding. "The children LOVED the animals and we fed them at the allotted time every morning and went to visit at other times," says melissa, though she notes "beyond that though, we found there wasn't too much to do."
Indoor pools for year-round swimming: Available at several parks. Thousand Trails Circle M offers swimming regardless of weather. "The kids enjoyed the indoor pool. Looking forward to coming back in the summer," mentions Davie Q., highlighting the extended camping season this amenity provides.
Seasonal Halloween events: October is a prime camping time. Multiple campgrounds offer special activities during fall. Kasey M. explains, "They had Halloween ever at every weekend of October and we spent Halloween weekend here. The kids loved it!!" Decorations, parades, and themed events make autumn visits popular across the region.
High percentage of seasonal/permanent campers: Affects atmosphere and availability. Many parks have long-term residents who personalize their sites. At Round Top Campground, "There are a lot of seasonals in the campground with 'stuff' spread out everywhere around their campsites," according to Nancy W.
Terrain leveling challenges: Bring extra blocks. The rolling hills of central Pennsylvania create naturally uneven camping pads. At Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country, "Unlevel is an understatement we were in E row and every camper there had front end 4 foot off the ground," reports Justin B.
Proximity to highways creates noise concerns. Several campgrounds trade easy access for quiet surroundings. Stuart K. explains at Pinch Pond Family Campground, "While it is RIGHT NEXT to the highway, it's not a simple or EZ path to navigate," noting "you're not going to get away from all of that highway traffic noise."
Pool hours vary seasonally: Call ahead to verify. At Spring Gulch Resort Campground, Beth B. found "not enough staffing to keep amenities like pool open after 5 during the week," limiting evening swimming options.
Arcade and game rooms: Bring quarters. Many parks offer indoor entertainment for rainy days. Stuart K. notes at Pinch Pond, "It was like camping and going to chuckie cheese at the same time," with one parent adding "Their game room has tickets. This is the one and only campground we have ever visited that gave tickets for playing games and my kids LOVED IT!"
Mini-golf conditions vary widely between parks. While most RV campgrounds Emigsville-area offer this amenity, maintenance differs. Beth B. reports at Spring Gulch, "Mini golf was fun but need to be regreened....several holes needed maintenance," a common concern across multiple parks.
Site selection strategy: Request periphery spaces for privacy. Stuart K. advises at Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country, "The best sites IMHO are those that back up to the periphery and are northernmost up the slight embankment as you'll have greater privacy and less noise being furthest away from all of the action."
Satellite internet performance varies by tree cover. Nick E. shares from Thousand Trails PA Dutch, "Definitely got lucky with site F03 for Starlink. The rest of the campground has a lot of tree cover," highlighting the importance of requesting specific sites for connectivity.
Weekend golf cart traffic impacts experience. At many parks, personal transportation creates noise and dust. Dale Y. notes even at quiet campgrounds, "It's private property and they can certainly decide who can rent their spots," suggesting weekday stays for those seeking less activity.
