    City of Rocks State Park Campground

    Camp among the rocks!

    General: A small section with hookups (laid out more like a typical RV park), but the majority of the campground is nestled in between rock formations with no utilities. 

    Site Quality: Because the sites are located in and around the rocks, each site is different. Some have shorter driveways, some are pull-through, and some are completely hidden among the rocks. Sites have many amenities: fire pit, large picnic table, bench(es), and most are very spacious. 

    Bath/Shower house: Located by the visitor center, there are bathrooms with flush toilets and showers; they were clean. Sprinkled throughout the campground are pit toilets that were also very clean. 

    Activities/Amenities: There are several trails, an observatory, and a botanical garden (although not much was in bloom when we were there). 

    This was our second or possibly third time here in the last nine years (coincidentally in the same site twice!), and it is one of our top ten favorite campgrounds.

    Free camping with all the things

    This had an extremely limited number of sites but they were all fully equipped with a picnic table, burn pit, and grill. We showed up later so we set up our tent and went to sleep. But it was great. You don’t need screw in stakes. You need not be soft. Great place. Got there on a fully loaded dresser with a passenger.

    Dry and dusty

    Campground and surrounding area is very dry. No campfires. Gravel sites. Picnic Tables and sites could use some general maintenance. Nicely laid out with lots of room between sites.

    Forest Road 5 - Dispersed campsite

    Nice little meadow

    Great little spot by the creek (currently dry). Was here on a Monday and Tuesday night so other sites weren’t overly crowded. Cows came through camp, but didn’t disturb anything other than my dog.

    Remote but peaceful and beautiful

    Loved the sheltered picnic table area next to our rv spot. Wide area to park vehicle next to travel trailer. We had a nice view of the lake. SANDSPURS, ugh!

    Cabana RV Park

    This is a nice place to stay, not far from the lake. Most spots are pull through with concrete pads. It has a convenient store little restaurant and a Bar. The laundry facilities is top notch, has huge showers and a place with a kitchen and dining room area. I definitely recommend this RV spot to anyone, peaceful, and quiet and the price is reasonable compared to other places in the area.

    We found this site to be super quiet. We drove in, pulled up to a table and slept. No hook ups but it worked well for us! Small bathroom with toilet and sink. Bring soap to wash hands. Basketball courts nearby along with a playground.

    Stopped here passing thru for a night. They had a nice walking trail around the park with a classic tractor section. Kids loved the tractors. Clean space. Friendly staff.
