Cool Pines RV Park

Fifteen acres of pine-covered slopes create a spacious environment where RVers find room to spread out despite some sites being positioned closer together. Cool Pines RV Park sits in the Lincoln National Forest area, offering full hookups and pull-through sites that accommodate larger rigs on mostly level terrain.

The property features a large dog park and a newer community building with gathering space and fire ring. Bathhouse facilities consist of single-occupancy restrooms with one toilet and shower each, which campers report as exceptionally clean but potentially creating wait times during busy periods. "Wildlife and friendly people" characterizes the setting, according to Jeff H., with hummingbirds frequently spotted around the grounds.

Cell service proves limited across most carriers, though T-Mobile users report better connectivity than AT&T. WiFi is available but becomes unreliable during evening hours when usage peaks. The elevation provides noticeably cooler temperatures than surrounding desert areas. Sites positioned away from the main road experience minimal traffic noise.

James Canyon Campground lies less than three miles away for those seeking additional forest camping options. Reservations are accepted, and the park honors Passport America discounts for eligible stays.

Many campers appreciated the spacious, wooded sites and outstanding hospitality from owners Rick and Gale. Guests commonly noted recent facility improvements and peaceful atmosphere, though WiFi can be limited and single bathrooms may create wait times.

Very Cool!

Quiet, relaxing & convenient to the town of Cloudcroft. The owners are very nice and very accommodating. Everything was clean & in good working condition. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again if in the area.

Peaceful and spacious

While some of the sites are a little close together, the campground itself is very spacious (15 acres!) with a large dog park and a new building for activities. The bathhouse is a set of single bathrooms (one women’s, one men’s) with one toilet and one shower each, so I’d recommend using the bathroom in your rv if possible to avoid a line, but the bathrooms are very clean and feel like a bathroom you’d find inside someone’s home. Sites are placed far enough back from the road that there is very very minimal noise. The entire property was very quiet and peaceful, and Gail was a dream to work with.

My only complaint was the WiFi signal was very poor, and virtually unusable during the evenings—cell service is also minimal due to the location, but I was able to work remotely using my T-Mobile hotspot.

Heaven in the Mountains

My wife and I were visiting White Sands  National Park and looking for a place to stay on our journey east.  I called in the afternoon to see if they had a spot available and they did. Passport America discount. Price $24.52 This place is fantastic.  15 acres of wooded pine slopes with lawn. Wildlife and friendly people. The hosts Rick and Gail are professional,  helpful and fun. My wife found some hummingbirds to photograph. There are places all over the ground to sit with tables. A great place to commiserate with like minded souls. A large activity room has been built.  AT&T is non- existent but I have 2 bars of T-mobile. There is wifi available.  After staying in the desert for a while this place is heaven.

Awesome Experience

Beautiful resort with spacious sites and excellent amenities including laundry, bathroom/shower and beautiful community gathering building and fire ring.

Plus, the owner/hosts are incredible. They are very helpful and welcoming. Felt like friends from the very first hello!

They even had home-made cinnamon roles and coffee in the community building on our first morning in the park. Not sure how often they do this, but it was a fun event with a majority of the campers participating in this event.

We will return any time we visit the Cloudcroft, NM area!

Great Little Spot

Stayed one night on our way east and was very impressed with the clean and beautiful campsite. We stayed in a pull through site with full hookups at a great price. The hosts were very nice as well.

A beautiful place

Cool Pines is a wonderful place to get away for a week or two. We stayed there a week and now wish we had booked two weeks. Lincoln National Forest is a little slice of heaven. Rick and Gale are the new owners and have worked hard over the winter to make lots of improvements to the property. New laundry, bath, showers, and internet. It’s not city fast, but your not in the city.
They are down home people, need help just ask. And don’t be surprised if you have some home made candy at your door. We will be back and we give them 5 stars.

Loving the cooler temperatures

Just can from Midland Tx where it was around 98, today at Cool Pines RV Park 72° at 3pm in the afternoon. Very friendly staff and are definitely practicing social distancing. I have a 50amp and water site for $30 a night taxes included. Planning on staying here the next three day. Hiking trails nearby and also planning a day of exploring the city of Alamogordo. Zoo, Space Museum and Train Depot only 23 miles away.
