Peaceful Private Camping

Enchanted Circle Campground is not like most campgrounds. One, there are only 7 spots with a rumored 8th spot coming in the future. Two, the spots are generally big and filled with amenities. Our spot had a pergola, many solar lights, two fire pits, two hammock, a charcoal grill, log benches, fire…

This truly is the land of enchantment!

Perfectly located on a picturesque a beautiful lake with the Sangre de Cristo mountains as a backdrop. The drive into the park isn’t that impressive, but it just makes me more appreciative of the beauty of this place, which is set behind several RV/trailer parks. The campground is small with ample…

Good Campsite

Campsite well maintained, lots of ground to walk, creek nearby for fishing. Awesome bathroom. Only a 4 star as way too much traffic rolling by on main dirt road to other parts of park and creek. And not enough shade. Couldn’t set up my awning as the ground was extremely rocky and cement like.…

Beautiful and quiet!

I only stayed a night in my truck tent, but I loved it. The campsites were pretty close to each other, most everyone seemed to be in an RV, but it was very quiet so I ended up not minding it much. My site was right on the creek with plenty of grass space. The camp host was very friendly and gave…

Eagle Nest State park campground

Beautiful, clean area with about 15 campsites. There is a place to get water and restrooms in the park. Each campsite has plenty of space between sites, but has no electric or water hookups and there is no dump station. Very nice views of the lake and great walking trails with lots of flora and…

Off the beating path

Stopped at this place on the way home from CO. Camp host were super nice and helpful! Hubby and I Canoed on the reservoir. Seen a bear while we were out there! Campgrounds we’re super nice. We had a table, fire ring, and canopy. We were told that the lake is the best trout fishing in the area and…

Gold Panning

Stopped here after talking to camp host at Morphy Lake. Said that the creek might have some gold in it and easy access, so we tried it out. Found a few specks! Park was very nice. We only spent the day but it was a perfect spot!

Between a Rock and a Hard Place

We managed to arrive just before dark so didn’t really take in our surroundings until daybreak. Wow what a spot. Right off the road between the two canyons. Snuggling.

Lovely location, but some tight sites

We've lived in New Mexico (Alamogordo and Albuquerque) for 30+ years, but had never made it up north to Sugarite Canyon State Park. But on our RV trip back home from Rocky Mountain National Park, we decided to spend a night here rather in the small town of Raton(eight miles away). It's a lovely…

Great Campground

We very much enjoyed our time here. It was beautiful. A dry campground with no hookups and no water (water is available at the lower Lake Alice campground and showers st the park entrance). Vault toilets were clean, sites nicely spread out with covered picnic tables, fire circles and bear boxes…

Nice views - Primitive Site on top of hill

Not a lot of space between the sites but super clean; camp host Steve was AWESOME and what a view of the canyons.  Bear box is provided at each site and we were able to have fires as long as it stayed in the ring.  Clean bathroom not too far of a walk.  Sites were pretty full so for us, this is a…

Great campsite!

Recently stayed at the Tolby site at cimarron state park and we had a great time. Mike, our camp host was awesome and had some great information about the area. Clear creek hiking trail is a short drive away and was a beautiful and totally doable 3 mile trail for our 3 young girls. The fishing in…

A real gem!

We only stayed the night but we are definitely coming back for longer stays. It is not a big campground but we’ll laid out and accessible. The sites are close and level but it’s the views! You are up in the mountains and have a fantastic vista views. There is a short hiking trail with swings…
