Stopped here on my way through Kansas towards Colorado. The park was nearly empty on a Sunday night, so I got a nice lakefront site with no one else around for $14.
Only complaint is that the camp attendant wasn't there, so I had to pay for the campsite online. But cell coverage was decent.
Being hikers at heart, we chose this campground since it is very close to the Horse Thief Trail trailhead. Unfortunately, the trails are very much built for horseback riding with sand terrain, a VERY narrow path and intense overgrowth. Not quite what we were expecting. It would probably be okay…
This place is incredible! Right by a lake, this campground is extremely well maintained and spacious. You can sit at a picnic table, under luscious trees overlooking the lake and the houses beyond. There are RV spots and primitive campsites, and if you go Sunday-Thursday, those primitive sites are…
Tent-camped at a walk-in site on S-loop (away from water). Gatehouse attendants were super friendly. Free shower house was clean and serviced regularly. Other loops a bit more busy but seemed nice enough.
stayed here for 2 nights . I have to say the views and campsites were excellent.
who knew that in the middle of Kansas there is a 9000 acre lake that is just breathtaking
I will be going back next time I go thru Kansas.
not anyone around as far as staff but well maintained .
7 miles from the…
I have come to really like COE campgrounds. Everyone I've visited has been clean, spacious and well maintained. This one is no exception. We stayed in mid week during May and just about had the place to ourselves.
There is plenty of room between sites with well maintained grounds. Most but not…
I stayed in the very back one because it was one of the only ones open. I did t need it but if I did the big covered picnic area is very nice. The area is well taken care of but does have nice foresty area around it.

This was our second time camping here and we loved it just as much as the first! We stayed on Wheatgrass loop site #57. The sites are huge! This back-in site was easily 50-60ft long. Water and electric hookups were conveniently located and the site was mostly level side to side. And that view!…
Camped and fished here many times and enjoyed it every time I went, primitive camping no electric or water. Has pit toilets and you have to take your trash when you leave. Have camped there from spring to fall
I'm almost positive this camp site is fake. I wouldn't call the number to make reservations.
The park is self is big and good for a walk. The are it's in however is a bit sketchy. Definitely don't want to have kids there past dark.
We came in the late afternoon on a Friday in October. Drove from the interstate. We saw the sign & turned. We became completely lost. I picked up a map at the office, which was closed, but it didn't help. We drove around then came back to the office. There was a conservation officer in the…

I camped in my tent here the last day of January and was very happy with the site. I was the only person who stayed the night and had an awesome time roaming the grounds in evening and morning! There was some snow and the ground and tons of tracks from wildlife when I woke in the morning. It was a…
What a lovely campground and state park. It’s 16 minutes off I70 and feels so remote and peaceful- no highway traffic noise. We pulled in late at night on a Monday in October after many hours in the road and were thrilled at how peaceful and clean it was. We stayed at campsite 17 right on the lake…
