No frills clean campground

All the spaces are pulled through. It is very clean. There is full hook up for water, electric and sewer. All spaces are paved. There are picnic tables scattered throughout the park. If you are here to gamble, you will love it. If you are here to rest, you will love it. My wife and I feel safe in…

Wouldn’t recommend

You r in the bright sun all day. Nothing opens until 11. People fly by to the boat ramp all day.

Peaceful county park in small town Iowa

We really enjoy this campground and use it as a home base when we’re back visiting family. There’s a couple of parks onsite for kids- one with a zip line swing- plus a pond for fishing, areas to hike and bike. There’s also a historic village onsite that’s open for tours on weekends during the…

Great location, tons of amenities

Marion County is often overlooked by people in favor of the various Red Rock campgrounds that are nearby, but in my opinion, unless you have a boat, there is nothing that puts Red Rock above Marion County. They have done a great job in recent years updating sites a few at a time, adding pavement…

Cost Effective, all hook ups, great long term

I stayed at this campground from August until November 13 in my pull behind camper.

Water, gas and Sewer was $15 daily,$105 weekly, and$420 monthly. Prices go up to $120 weekly when it gets cold. Shower house was shut down for COVID and shuts down in winter.

Tenting is cheaper$11

No ground fires…

Buck Stop Camp

About 1.5 mile hike to camp, nice moderate hike with wide trails. Listened to deer rutting all night and coyotes howling. Can’t wait to go again!

Off the beaten path

Very nice and quite location when I went mid September. Seems like a lot of trails to explore. Will go back again to explore more. Lots of hills.

Best Resort in Iowa

My family and I stay here for a week during the summer. We usually rent a cabin but there is also a hotel you can stay at.

The hotel includes w restaurant which is a little pricey but it’s usually really good food. There is a video game system hooked up in the lobby and a guest services area and…

Overall nice park

Nice park, a little run down, but there's a new park ranger in town who is trying to fix it up. New rental cabin almost finished, clean beach, boat ramp and fishing. Clean spacious bathrooms, nice playground for the kids and a really cool equestrian section. No store, no wood so get what you need…

Great little campground by a lake

Great spot by a small lake in Stephen's State Forest. Didn't have a soul around us for the night we camped here (late September). Temps were around 43 degrees at night. Fire pits have nice swinging grates on them. There was a picnic table at each spot as well. We were in Campsite 007. Would have…

A quiet getaway

We arrived on Thursday evening. After a short debate we opted to pay the extra money for an electric site - based solely on the fact that the water wasn't turned on in the basic site loop (we later discovered it was also off at the swimming beach).

At a guess the basic sites aren't used much as…

Great backpacking spot in Iowa!

The Woodburn unit in Stephens State forest has great hiking trails leading to very primitive camping locations. The site did have a nice picnic table and fire pit. A great place to disconnect and go off grid for a little while

UPDATE: Nine Eagles has some upgrades

Update: I returned to nine eagles this year with our Boy Scout Troop. They have spent some money since I was last here building new pavilions and updating some of the equipment. The group site still doesn't have restroom facilities but it is not to far to walk to a bathroom. The grounds are well…

Nine Eagles - Youth Campground

Nine Eagles is near Lamoni, Iowa near the Iowa-Missouri border right off of Interstate 35. I camped here with my son and his Boy Scout troop in the youth group part of the campground. I can't speak for the rest of the park's camping facilities, but the youth group site is a large open space…
