A good place to relax and recharge

We enjoyed a long weekend here reconnecting with friends.  The campground is well maintained and has a camp host on site.  The Shower/restrooms were clean and stocked.  Firewood is available for 8$ a bundle.  Sites are gravel base and  fairly level.  The city park has a edge maze that is unique. …

Lovely Spring Weekend

I reserved the site for mid-April at the beginning of March. Campground opens 4/15 and we arrived on opening day. Check process can be done either in person or online upon arrival. Thursday night the campground was practically empty, but by 7pm on Friday night it was nearly full. Ranger offered a…

Had the lake to ourselves!

Although there were RVers and a nice group of Boy Scoutspaet of the time, there was no one else in our tent camping side. We had chilly weather, but marvelous views of the water with a rare flock of pelicans! Some of the trails were muddy, but there plenty of others to choose from. Red buds and…

Quaint campsite near a lake

I wish I new how to fish because this campsite offers a beautiful lake with plenty of bass. On top of that, the fire pit has a very nice two-tier cooking grate that can be rotated on or off the fire, although I couldn't find any firewood sold at the park, Indianola Iowa is just a few miles north…

Great place

Very nice place, close to the lake. Beach at walking distance through the trail. Fishing area, two kid playgrounds and at around 15 minutes to any grocery stores and gas stations.

Quite, rustic, Iowa Nice. Closed spring 2021 for road improvement

This is a regular stop on my campground rotation.  Camp host's are the best ever.  Clean facilities.  Has both shaded and open spots, yurts, trails.  There are lots of activities, kids can swim below the ford, canoe starting on one side of the park and loop I'd guess about 3 miles on the middle…

Not a real campground.

5 pedestals around new unfinished shelter. No water at all, no dump, no trash, no fire ring, lots of litter. Long winding single lane access road, be a big problem if 2 rigs met. Someone would have tough back up. Pond did look promising for fish cover. Main Amtrak RR line and highway on north…

Remote park with nice little lake.

Fished out for the most part, 10 inch bass the norm, few far between. There's gotta be some big ones left. No camp host, no dumpster, no dump station. No shower. Did I mention the best part? It's remote, quiet, and nice folks camp there.

Cost Effective, all hook ups, great long term

I stayed at this campground from August until November 13 in my pull behind camper.

Water, gas and Sewer was $15 daily,$105 weekly, and$420 monthly. Prices go up to $120 weekly when it gets cold. Shower house was shut down for COVID and shuts down in winter.

Tenting is cheaper$11

No ground fires…

Good stop on the road

If you are looking for a nice clean RV park on the road this is your place, if you are an outdoor enthusiasts looking for you adventure not for you. We stayed over night on our way down south. Very convenient off the free way. Good hookups and level pad. Photos are in fall almost winter so no…

Loved this cute park!

We will definitely return, we loved this park. The bridges of Madisin County, Clarke Tower, cute local ice cream shop, John Wayne Museum! So much fun in a cute Iowa community!

Buck Stop Camp

About 1.5 mile hike to camp, nice moderate hike with wide trails. Listened to deer rutting all night and coyotes howling. Can’t wait to go again!

It's a quick stop for the night.

Not great, but I'm sure there's worse. The good is that it's straight off the interstate, the hookups seem to work and it's a fairly quiet town. The bad is that there's very little room between pads and except for some aging picnic tables, no amenities. No reservations and no staff, just a drop box…
