Rustic camping in large sites with a free exercise plan!

We were surprised to discover this state park in Illinois but searching on the Dyrt App helped us have a great visit. There are 4 different camping areas within this park. There are electric sites near the showers. Another loop of electric sites is down the road. Keep going and you find a small…

Lots of RVs on a beautiful lake

We were hoping that this would be a great find but it turned out to be not our camping preference. The lake is beautiful. Bring your own boat or you can rent one at the camp store. There are a series of fishing docks too.

The campground itself was a crowd of big RVs. The road kept splitting…

Great for equestrian and hiking but not much shade in the other loop

This is a large state park with separate camping loops. The equestrian loop was popular and we saw many there. It has plenty of shade and even what looked to be a horse water trough.

The non-equestrian loop was not as nice. There are a few spots with morning shade but the whole place will get…

Camp with lots of activities

When we saw a campground connected to a golf course we had to check it out. Driving through town was a surprise. We saw a large theater with some upcoming musical events. Once at the city park we found more unexpected goodness. There is a pool and a very large playground. A frisbee golf course is…

Partially shaded spots in central IL

Good spots with easy access to hiking trails and lake. Better in winter, spring, and falls months.

Our first night out

Our first night out in our new travel trailer. Very impressed with the park when it was supposed to be closed. They extended their season because the weather was so good. Highly recommend it if you are in the area. We'll be staying here again sometime in the future.

Convenient and really well maintained. Great place for travelers with pets.

Right off highway 80 we stopped in for the night on our way out West and wound up staying 2. Very clean park with lots of shade. Spaces are a bit close together but the grounds make up for it. There's a huge amount of green space surrounding the campsites and even a fishing  pond on site. Our dogs…

Might work for some

Time and the city of Warsaw have forgotten this park. Lots of trash overflowing the cans and on the ground. A dyke is being built across the roadway which obscures the river view . This maybe ok if nothing else is available but we opted to move on. No TMobile service or antenna TV service

Perfect location when traveling

My Husband were traveling to Montana and this campground was right off the freeway. The grounds are well maintained and the hosts were amazing. They helped you get to your site and get lined up. All sites are pull thru with full hookups. The grounds have lots of mature trees so shade is plenty.…

We love camping at Argyle!

Our kids love argyle for the paved roads they can easily ride bikes on, the 2 playgrounds and the room to run! We love it because of the spacious sites and options to hike and bike.

Great Spot

We are so thankful we found this park. Most occupants are simi-annual residents, but there are still several nice, quiet, shady spots to be found. Everyone is friendly. There are 2 clean but dated bathhouses available. It’s the most reasonably priced campsite that we have found so far.

My favorite spot

I’ve camped here several times at the primitive sites. It’s a decent hike in but once you get there, the view of the lake is worth it. It’s just a nice, peaceful place to camp. I’ve always been able to find a campsite since it is first come first serve. The host is very friendly and seems like he’s…
