Granted we arrived after some heavy rain (I guess), but it was tough to get around without walking thru mud. Taking the dogs out for their business you came in with a filthy animal. The sites were really tight and it was tough moving around the campground with a 41ft 5th wheel. Saw other large rigs having difficulty getting into sites,
Clean and friendly staff
Fishing areas are plentiful here. We rented a primitive cabin and it had the bare minimum.
Camping spots are spacious but fill up quickly for the season. Boating, fishing, and lake swimming/beach area are great. The bath houses have vault toilets. Many weekends they have live music and/or activities for the family. Local officers patrol the area during busy weekends and the park is staffed at the gatehouse 24/7 where ice and firewood is sold. Playgrounds, basketball court, and plenty of open space for other activities. They also have boat rentals now!
A great hidden gem! Lots of full timers and still plenty of over nighters.
Really beautiful lake and lookouts and trail down to sandy beach. Close marina and even little food truck right off the lake. Good fishing. There are a lot of sites and we went on a packed weekend but sites arranged well and ours backed up to woods and felt as private as it could among so many campers.
We stopped for one night on our trip from DC to southwestern CO. We pulled in there at about 11pm. The ofc was closed, but the instructions were clear enough that we found our site (We’d booked online on our way there) and quietly set up. We woke this morning at 8 to donkeys braying which was cool. The area is clean, well-managed and has the look of a nice neighborhood of campers in the trees. Lots of kids and activities. The staff we interacted with were very friendly. It’s definitely a great place to stop on the way along RT 70 (easy off and on) for a night. It looks like some folks have settled in for the long haul with flower gardens and lawn furniture.
The park is beautiful great hiking and biking. Rented kayaks and it was like glass on the lake. Very reasonable boat rentals. Campground was beautiful. Limit number of water sites but all have electric facilities were very well maintained. Too bad Covid closed the pool
Pretty awesome site. Parked right by the lake front. Private and quite. We paid $12 for primitive.
There is also a really nice loop around the lake with a swimming spot and some old cabins for some westworld feels.
Tarmac pretty smooth for a longboard glide almost all the way around the lake.
