Bruneau Dunes State Park Campground
OK, but expensive
We camped one night here with our camper van. We selected a site that had water and 30-amp electrical hookups. Our one night cost us over $52: $35 for the site rental + $7 for the park-entrance fee + $10 for the mandatory online-reservation fee + Idaho state sales tax. Payment MUST be done online; cash is NOT accepted at the campground.
Cell coveragee at the campground is very poor, so reserving and paying for a camp site is a chancy and frustrating process. The visitor's kiosk claims that "free Wi-Fi" is available at the campground, but this is not true.
The sites are rather exposed, with only a few trees providing sparse privacy between the sites. Fortunately, there were only five parties staying at our specific campground (called "Broken Wheel"), so we had a lot of space between us and our neighbors. If the campground were busier, it would resemble a tent city.
On the plus side, the park is remote, so the night sky is filled with stars. It was a new moon the night we stayed there, and we were rewarded with a real star party!
However, we have stayed in plenty of other campgrounds, even ones offering water and electric hookups, that are just as remote but cost significantly less, and even provide more privacy between the campsites. We will not be returning to Bruneau Sand Dunes.
