Great Memorial Day weekend

Didn’t think we would find a spot for the weekend since we left so late. Drove up to silver creek expecting that if we couldn’t get in we would boondock on the other side of which boasts acres and acres of opportunity all around to boondock. However we were able to secure a spot. It can get a…

Small and Beautiful

This is a very small campsite far enough off Hwy 21 to be remote and rustic but also close enough to be fairly easy to get to.  There are only 3-4 campsites.  The scenery is beautiful and there is a lot of wilderness to enjoy.

Great spot! Bring water

Bring your own water!!! All the websites say this place has potable water but the pump was chained up! Thankfully there is a “market” at Twin Springs resort about 4 miles north! Other than the misinformation about the water, this place is great! Beautiful scenery, easily accessible sites with…

Great host

Was virtually empty, able to choose a great spot. Recommend bringing a saw and ax for firewood although we were able to scavenge enough. Very little wildlife but nice places to explore. Well water is cold and tasty.

One of our favorite spots

We stayed here in August of 2020. At first we were worried since it was right off the busy highway but it was an awesome place to stay for a few days.  We had two separate campsites and they were perfectly located for going back and fourth. You can fish or swim in the river on those warm days and…

Nice place outside of craters of the moon.

Nice campsite next to a pretty creek. There were picnic tables with covers, a fire pit, and a pit toilet. There was only gravel though so not great for a tent but it's fine if you've got sleeping mats. I had great service here as well.

Awesome Campground

This campground is near Highway 21 but far enough off the road for a quiet camping experience.  Lots of room for all kinds of vehicles and choices of camping styles here.  This is actually one of my favorite place to snow shoe in the winter.

Whoop Em Up!

Quiet with restroom and clean water. Lots of firewood laying around. No cell service, except Mores Peak and Idaho City... No service in Lowman (only 1 mercantile with 2 pumps), but an absolutely gorgeous drive! Only downside is the flies late morning to evening. But overall an awesome 2 days of…

Very rugged

This site was right along a river that was very beautiful but the campground was on higher ground so most people walked down to the entrance where you could get to the river or some people stood on the bridge to fish. Not all spots have trees, so be careful if you have pets. They did have three…

Amazing views and history!

This campground is a hike-in area unless you visit via dirt bikes, mountain bikes or horses. It is 4.4 miles to Loon Lake from the Chinook Campground.Chinook is the last place you can get water and use a pit toilet before going on the hike. Follow the Loon Lake Loop trail to get to the lake. It is…

Little old, but great!

I really liked this campsite. It would be a great spot if you are planning on camping with horses as it has hitching rails. It is a historical site that has been used off and on for the past century. Wether come from McCall via Lick Creek Road, or fr the east down the Salmon River, it is beautiful!…
