    West Dubois Pulloff on Route 22

    Large rigs beware

    It's a narrow road with drop offs. When I say drop offs I just mean if you are have a large rig and you're making the tight turn. Make sure you keep your wheels on the room as you turn off of highway 20. It's narrow. The first part of the drive gets pretty Rocky have a 45-ft fifth wheel and with this type of trailer it's not made to be off-road in my opinion. So half a mile an hour for the first 200 ft followed by 1 mi an hour. The rest of the way took me 10 minutes to go. What should have taken a minute and a half to drive at the end. There's a nice turn around. The view is breathtaking. You'll be able to turn parallel to the fence and have an absolutely beautiful view and sunset completely quiet. No road sounds at all. It's wonderful. There's no trash. Nobody has left any mess here whatsoever which is phenomenal to see

    Redfish Lake Overflow Dispersed

    Beautiful Riverside Camping with Sawtooth Views

    Awesome dispersed camping area near Redfish Lake. We stayed in the south overflow area near Sunny Gulch and got a great site right by the Salmon River. The sites are much more spread out than Outlet Campground and some of the other developed campgrounds around Redfish, so it feels more private and peaceful.

    The roads in and out are really good. They aren’t paved, but the surface is a fine yellow, sandy material that’s surprisingly clean and not dusty or dirty. The sites are nicely laid out and have designated metal fire rings with grill grates.

    Access is also really good for larger RVs. We got our 33-foot rig in and out with no problem. There are signs on some of the roads warning of no trailer turnaround, so definitely pay attention to those and don’t head down a spur unless you know you can get back out. As long as you watch the signs, getting a good-sized RV or trailer around the camping area is pretty easy.

    Our site has a pretty steep trail down to the river, so you need to be fairly agile to get down there. We noticed some of the sites farther south have easier river access. Once you get down to the water, though, it’s absolutely beautiful. The Salmon River runs through the valley with mountains rising on both sides, and you can see the Sawtooth Mountains from the camping area.

    Beautiful views, plenty of space, good access for larger rigs, river access, and an incredible setting. We’d absolutely camp here again.

    Great location next to Snake River - big - private campsites- it’s gorgeous here. Make sure you bring what you need - limited services. Cool camp host sells firewood. $3 a bundle.

    Snake River Dispersed Camping

    BLM near Burley

    Convenient to I84 (about 10 minutes off), nice spots along Snake River. Road was much better than I expected - could have accessed closer spots w no issues in my Hyundai Ioniq 5. As shown in photo, some rocks further in would be better w more clearance. Very quiet except for a couple trains across the river. Empty except for us. Only downside is like many of these public lands, some of the public are strong enough to haul in container and boxes full of stuff, but too weak and lazy to haul the empties back out.

    Powell Campground

    Great place

    I very rarely give 5 stars. This place earned it. Paved camp spot, very clean rest rooms, very quiet, fire ring, table, and drinking water nearby. To top that off with the old geezer pass, you get all this with electric (50, 30 amp.) for $10 a night. A GREAT deal !! $ 20 without the pass is still a very good deal. It would be nice if it had a dump station, but there is one down the road a bit.

    She was talking about they discriminated against anybody with pets. What camp or what person in Idaho doesn’t have a pet. This is the most pathetic campground I’ve ever seen.

    A slice of heaven

    Absolutely beautiful area! We would’ve stayed a month if we could! We were able to ride dirt bikes on the few trails through the forest. We were camped right on the river and floated down with tubes many times. Fishing sucked though, no fish. Close to Yellowstone and an even bigger river float just ten minutes away at big springs. We saw moose in the forest and cows were let out while we were there which was a fun surprise. We have a 37ft travel trailer.
