    Hells Canyon Park

    Great hosts, lovely grounds

    The campground itself is ok. If you get a site down by the water, those are the only ones with picnic tables and fire pits (19, 20, 21, 22, D1, D2, D3, where D = no hookups). Many of the sites with hookups are basically parallel parking spots but they don’t have their own picnic tables or fire pits. There are no tents allowed on the grass in the RV area, they are allowed on the pavement only. Tents are of course welcome on the grass in the tent camping area. There are picnic tables and fire rings in the tent area. Sites 6 and 8 were very sunny and hot. There is river access for swimming, shady areas over by the swimming area, and shady areas with picnic tables in the day use areas. The tent sites appeared to be on a slope. The camp host was THE BEST! She moved us out of a sunny site and had one available with a fire pit and picnic table for our first night. She checked back in frequently and was delightful to visit with. She takes excellent care of her guests and made the whole weekend especially enjoyable. There are docks available for boat parking and additional parking available for boat trailers. The grass is as green as can be and is watered daily which makes it very nice. There are flush toilets and a shower for guests to use as well as some porta potties. Dogs are welcome and must be leashed at all times. There are trash receptacles for waste and the campground was incredibly clean and nice.

    Right on the water

    Very nice established sites with trash service and restrooms at the boat ramps. Sites are just about right on the water and each has a fire pit and table.

    copper mountain rd dispersed

    Ok spot for overnight

    Driving directions are spot on. Good cell coverage (AT&T). Arrived around 6pm and drove the 1.8 mi. on gravel road. Road in decent condition. I’m pulling my 13’ Scamp, which rides low and had no problem as long as I took it slow. Drove 1/4 mi past the site in order to find a place to turn around. Site is well used and a little dirty. Has DIY campfire ring and lots of dead wood around though it looks like it’s just fallen, not v. tidy. Some trash. Great views about 20’ down. Site is right on road and a dozen + cars passed, including some in the middle of the night...not great due to noise and headlights. It is possible to hear the interstate, but only large trucks.

    Massacre Rocks State Park Campground

    It's a nice enough place, lots to explore, clean restrooms and showers. Has water electricity and a dump station But, the noise from the interstate is a little to much for me... people in the visitors station are very friendly and informative..

    Village of Trees RV Resort

    Nice rv park and excellent overnight choice.

    Right off the highway this is a very nice and tidy park with river access. Dog friendly with plenty of room. Hosts are very nice and helpful. We used this as our base camp for exploring this beautiful area. We will be back.

    Swan falls and Snake River Bluffs

    Windy w/ road noise

    Spent a week on the upper bluffs with a great view of the valley. Wind was absolutely obscene, which was to be expected since I was up top. What wasn't expected was quite how much of the road noise reached me despite being so far out on the bluff away from the road. Overall wasn't an awful visit, just much noisier than I'd wanted.

    Trout Landing

    Primitive but lovely

    These sites are basic but have picnic tables and fire rings, accommodating tents, campers, or smaller RVs. Direct access to the lake with a very small boat launch. Not a great swimming area but great for fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding. Shady sites. Composting toilets. No water or hookups. May have better swimming access points on the other side of the lake where it’s more sandy/rocky.

    Spring Valley Reservoir

    Good fishing; wooded sites are best, but expect wind and noise.

    Popular park with families, so it's a bit loud until around midnight.  The tenting areas near the lake (and the RV area) are exposed to a lot of wind.  There are about 4 sites (near the trailhead) that are back in the trees and significantly less windy.  No skeeters when we were there (early June), but I suspect they're there once summer heats up.   Short trail around the lake is nice for waterfowl viewing, and if you're a fisherman I saw some nice strings of trout being carried. Seems to get some slob campers -- had to clean out a campfire ring near our site because it was full of scorched cans.   Site 15 had a nice area to hang our hammocks for sleeping, and even though it was right near the trailhead, the hikers were quiet and polite.   If you're just looking for a camping site near Moscow, it's acceptable.
