Caves, caves, caves!

The campground is standard fair, firepit/grill, lots of room. I've been up a few times and never had anyone next to our site given how remote it is. Great Nat'l Monument to visit during the winter because the caves stay the virtually the same temperature year round.

Explore the largest concentration of lava tubes in the whole world? Yes please!

Headlamp and helmet are musts. Gloves and kneepads recommended if you're planning on crawling around.

Nice hikes and petroglyphs to check out if you want some sunlight.

Great option when Fowler’s is full!!

was super impressed by this one. got in later than expected and fowler’s was full, cattle camp did not disappoint. short drive or medium walk to a cold shasta swimming hole, nice trails, some highway buzz but nothing too bothersome.

This park is such a treat!

Stayed a couple of days in the big forested campsites. The geothermal features are unique (especially if you haven't been to Yellowstone). There are rental kayaks nearby and plenty of hikes. We did a really interesting cindercone hike.

Like Fishing?

Eagle Lake is known for its “Eagle Lake Trout” and they get big! The lake itself can get choppy in the afternoon but get out and fish in the morning. The campground facilities here are complete and clean. They have a general store that has everything you could ask for, a little of everything and the staff is friendly and very helpful! The location is great if you like to explore things like lava beds, ice caves and wildlife!

Love!

Already one of my favorite little lakes, the camping did not disappoint. The sites are spacious and unique. The campground is paved which cuts down on the dust, but the road up is all dirt. We visited in mid-June. It got cool at night but was warm enough during the day to swim.

Shakedown PCT hike here

Excellent for tents and small Class B Vans. Don’t miss the views at the top of the single lane road to a 360* viewing area. Nice hot showers too.

Fishing 10 steps from our Trailer

1st RV park that I ever took my trailer to. Easy to get in and out of the camp site large camp sites, the hat Creek runs right through the camp ground and we caught trout all morning. Wonderful place convenience store was great too!👍👍

Great Vibes for an In Transit Night

Great location on the way to many points north along with an excellent morning or evening adventure to the falls. Camp Host (owner/operator?) is awesome and worth the stay alone.

Sites are a bit tight so might not be the solitude you’d want to a multi day stay but was perfect and energizing for a night in transit!

Remote but beatiful

The name is Medicine Lake campground. Stayed here in June 2020, had to camp at overflow because the lake loops were all full. Nice, clean, well kept. Pit toilets were clean. Fire pits and picnic table at each site. No cell service whatsoever. Paddled Medicine Lake, beautiful but buggy. Lots of mosquitos and lake flies. Lots to do nearby, Lava Flow NM, lava tubes, giant obsidian flows, hiking trails. Remote but beautiful. Lots of dispersed camping also available in the Modoc NF.

Trail to the lake

Despite the 100 degree temps in August, there is a trail down to the lake and we were able to swim to cool off.  The campground was basically empty.  Our site was a good size and we had shade.  Bathrooms were clean.
