Open from late-May until October, Seawall Campground boasts four loops with pull-through sites for RVs and walk-in tent sites as well. There are no first-come, first-served sites, so you have to make a reservation to stay here. The shower facility is located about a mile from the campground loops.

Centrally located only 20 miles from Bangor, and close to tons of coastal towns and adorable inland villages, Bucksport/Fort Knox KOA has amenities galore. With a dog park, a pool open Memorial Day to Labor Day, and fun activities like cribbage and S’mores gatherings, this is a great family campground, either for a night or for an extended stay.

Located in the quintessentially Maine town of Clifton 15 miles from Bangor, Parks Pond Campground is on 14 acres of gorgeous countryside. There are theme weekends like potluck suppers, ice cream socials, and karaoke. There’s a beach so you can get out on the water in a canoe or fish from the shore. This is a great family-run and family-oriented campground.

Although Patten Pond has “pond” in its name, it’s massive enough to be a lake. With a 749-acre lake at your disposal, you will have tons to do at Patten Pond Camping Resort. Fish, boat, swim, or admire the loons from the comforts of your campsite. There’s a lot of recreational activities besides nature, including horseshoes, volleyball, and a game room.

There are many camping options on Mount Desert Island, but Hadley’s Point is a gem among them. This campground is family-run and family-owned, with wooded and grassy sites only 4 miles from Acadia Park and an hour’s drive from Bangor.

A peaceful 5-minute walk takes you to a public saltwater beach. Different sub-areas help this campground feel much smaller and more personal. A honey wagon makes daily stops to those sites without sewer hookups.

Tucked away in beautiful Orland, ME is Balsam Cove Campground, situated right on 10-mile-long Toddy Pond, 38 miles away from Bangor. Boat, fish, swim, or hop on a hayride with your kids (only on weekends). Firewood, laundry facilities, and a playground round out the amenities at the campground, and there are free movies and popcorn on seasonal weekends.
