Nice place

Overall, this was a nice place to stay. The laundromat was helpful. The bathrooms were fairly clean. We had a beautiful view from our campsite! Not all campsites had full hookup and we were told that one of the dump stations worked, but as we were leaving, we realized it didn’t.

This Campground Has A Drinking Water Issue!

The two staff encounters we had were friendly and the staff had a desire to please. The grounds were pleasant. We visited when there were not a lot of campers and the weather was dry. Two of the four clothes washers were inoperable. We did not use the washrooms or laundromat. Upon arrival we were advised that the recent hurricanes caused water issues, but that the water was tested daily and everything was ok. During our set up process the water that came out of the tap was terrible & disgusting (see photo). We talked to the office and demanded bottled drinking water and that the poor water quality from the faucet be addressed. After 'checking with management', we were allocated two gallons of bottled water per day. Staff later stopped by in the process of flushing the water lines in our section of the campground and ran the water until it was acceptable(but not totally clear). Our water problem, was reportedly a new problem, not the hurricane problem. Bottom line after reading other reviews, some from a year or two ago, MT DESERT NARROWS CAMPGROUND HAS A DRINKING WATER PROBLEM and apparently, ownership has so far elected not to address the problem with a treatment system. Most frustrating- they were not entirely forthright about the issue.

Nice campground!

Beautiful sunsets over the water and proximity to Bar Harbor & Acadia NP make this campground a must visit.

Be advised many sites do not have dump stations, so be sure to know what you’re signing up for when reserving your spot.

Most spots are on uneven to very uneven ground, come prepared with whatever method you have to level out your setup. We could’ve used an extra set of the camco yellow leveling pads.

Showers are a little small but clean and hot. Washer/dryers work great.

Not Impressed

I would’ve given only one star but the view of the water is lovely. However the campground itself is less than thrilling. Next to no maintenance that I can tell. Our site (91) is very unlevel, the grass is 8 inches high, there are ruts and a sinkhole that you need to navigate carefully or twist an ankle. And although it thankfully remains empty - the site beside us is a ‘pull in’ meaning is we do get a neighbor, we will face each other and share literally less than 10’ in total. We will return to Acadia but not this campground

Nice campground, convenient location

We enjoyed a four day stay. If you don’t need a full hook up, you can stay closer to the lake, which we will do next time. The campground is clean, has good amenities, and the people who own it are very nice and helpful. Our site was also very level.

Quiet park

Beautiful park with some shady, some sunny, some on the water, all level sites. Nice bathrooms, laundry room, playground and rec area for kids. Pet friendly. They gave us a site under low hanging branches that were too low for our 5th wheel. They had no problem changing us to accommodate our rig! Very kind staff! 🙂

Nice and clean campground with great views over the lake! The RV spots are a bit narrow, but have a nice firepit with grill and good picknick bench!

A beautiful property needing tlc

This has to be one of the prettiest campsites we’ve stayed in. On the water, shaded. Serene However, I thought I had full hookups. Come to find out none of the oceanfront sites have sewer. They do have a honey wagon that will pump you out on Mondays and Fridays for 25$ a pop.

They also have a lovely heated pool

However, the bath houses are horrible. Badly in need of modernization and upkeep. Every morning the toilets were stopped up. The showers were mildewy. Uck

And there is defined an issue with the water. When we turned in the tap the water ran brown.

I paid a lot of money for 7 nights- over 900$. Expected more in the way of amenities.

Right on the shuttle route & views of the water

We arrived after 5 and had our paperwork taped to the door. The roads are gravel and a bit bumpy but easy enough to to get to our site. The location is great for using the shuttle to get to Bar Harbor and Acadia. You can’t beat it. We stayed a couple nights and I’d recommend staying out all day and into the night. The campground can feel a bit packed but you’re on an island in a national park! The shuttle comes right to the camp ground and runs early AM to late PM. We were the last shuttle Home both nights. Ate at great restaurants, did not tours and park tours. We were on an end site, full hookups with great views of the bay

Waterfront site with lots of room

This is a large campground, right on Mount Desert Island, about 8 miles from Acadia NP. Most of the sites are pretty close together, but we got a site on the water with lots of room. Water and 30-amp electric, some are full hook up, and a dump station. The site was easy to get into, and reasonably level. Lots of shade, and a steady breeze off the water. Bathrooms and showers are clean and large, though slightly aged. There is a pool, playground and laundry. Close to good seafood too!

Book elsewhere

This campground was close to Acadia and Bar Harbor - but this campground had very uneven sites - our jack was fully extended in order to get us level. The camp store closed very early - 6 pm. Shower houses were extremely tight and very run down. The water was from a well and came out rusty colored. For the price we were very disappointed. Also while exiting the dump station was blocking the only exit. If you can - stay somewhere else.

Great proximity to Acadia, need a waterfront site in my opinion

We really enjoyed our stay at this campground, but with a few caveats. We had an amazing site right on the water, which was beautiful. I'm not sure I would've been as happy with an off-water site. Some of the sites are very close to one another...we happened to get lucky with a site with more space. The proximity to Acadia and Bar Harbor was fantastic. I think they could afford to put some more money into this campground based on the location. The laundry room needs to be completely updated. The pool was closed the entire time we were there (in late June). The waterfront sites and the proximity to the park made it all worth it, but would love to see them put some more love and money into this campground!

Very nice location, nice campground

Showers rooms are every other for social distance are clean and like bathrooms cleaned daily. It is a great convenience to Acadia Nat’l Park. Water edged sites do not have sewer hook ups as most don’t for environmental reasons. I would gladly stay here again. The W/E/S operated as they should.

Love!!

10-15 from downtown Bar Harbor and the gorgeous Acadia NP. We vacationed here for my birthday. We had full hookups with free WiFi and cable. The kids loved playing on the playground and going down to the water at low tide. There is a kayak launch as well, and pool, but both were closed since we came in at the end of season. Everyone was nice and we had an amazing time.

Tip: Grab groceries in Ellsworth if you want to save $.

great first camping experience!

We bought our rv and headed out from Ohio the same night, on the path to get to our very first camping experience. The site we got had an awesome view of the water, and the campsites were not too close together. The facilities were clean and the hosts were super kind. Would gladly go back, just earlier in the season so we could enjoy the views better in bar harbor. It was too foggy !

Right on the water

Nice campground right on the water. The bathrooms were clean and the campground was well maintained. Our site wasn't raked before arrival and there were lots of leaves and debris on the site. We camped here in late May 2019 so maybe they were still working on cleaning up after the winter (wet spring). Its in a very convenient location to Acadia.

Family friendly

I love this campsite. They have sites right on the water, a gift shop, pool, laundry, game room, free showers and the times that I’ve been there they’ve had weekly events like ice cream socials and an Elvis impersonator. The staff is really friendly and helpful and the campsite is very clean and well maintained! ❤️
