Best RV Parks & Resorts near Grantsburg, WI

Several RV parks operate in the Grantsburg area with year-round and seasonal options. Grand Casino RV Resort in Hinckley features 271 full-hookup sites with 50-amp service, paved parking pads, and back-in access. "The sites are decent sized, with a few scattered trees. Nice amenities and facilities," noted one visitor. St. Croix Casino and Hotel RV Park in Turtle Lake operates seasonally from May through October with water and electric hookups for both tents and RVs, offering 50-amp service and dump station access. Country Quiet RV Park in Cumberland accommodates big rigs with full hookups including water, electric, and sewer connections, while Wildwood RV Park near Shafer provides 135 sites with both 30 and 50-amp electrical service.

Advance reservations are essential during summer months and fall weekends when RV traffic increases. Many parks near Grantsburg have challenging site angles that complicate backing procedures. A camper observed that at Grand Casino RV Resort "the site was almost 90 degrees to road, hard to park" and that "if the bathhouse parking lot wasn't across from it, wouldn't have been able to swing in on a 24' travel trailer." Cell service varies throughout the area, with better connectivity at casino-adjacent properties. Most parks welcome pets but enforce leash requirements. Dump stations are available at larger facilities, while smaller parks may direct RVers to nearby sanitary stations. Seasonal closure affects several properties, with many shutting down between October and May due to harsh winter conditions.

    Ham Lake Resort

Well Rounded RV Park and Campground

My partner and I scheduled a 3 day / 2 night stay in a new Vintage Cruiser RV for $39.99, in exchange for attending a presentation on private membership.

We checked in Wednesday evening, and the nicest staff I've ever met helped us acclimate to RV living. We are new to this game. They patiently described how to utilize the grey and black water tanks, as well as encouraged us to check-out the canoes, row boats, bikes, horseshoes, ladder golf and many other entertainment items - for FREE!

The map provided was accurate which made locating the cruiser a breeze. There were further instructions inside as well. The RV was immaculate. Provided for our use were all linens (a public very clean bath and shower was just across the road), dish soap, dish towels, paper towels, flat wear, plates, bowls, mugs and pans.

The campground has a couple of ponds, as well as access to Ham Lake where the watercraft is launched. There is a petting arena with goats, ponies, and a llama who gave my partner the stink eye, but fell in love with me rubbing the fence and giving me all googly eyes!

The clubhouse sells bundled wood, ice, snacks, cold drinks, ice cream and provides 24-hour fresh coffee. There is also a small resupply area, and gift shop.

There are pull-through sites, back ups, 50 and 30 amp hook ups, and tent sites, covered pavilions, picnic tables and fire pits.

The campground itself seems remote, secluded and peaceful, however, you are conveniently located to two well-stocked convenience stores, as well as Wal-Mart about 15 minutes away. It's also only about 45 minutes from the Minnesota Twin Cities.

One note: We visited in August and needed gallons of bug spray.

We very much enjoyed our get away!

    Grand Casino RV Resort

Park’s designers hav never been in an RV

The designers of this park have clearly never spent a night in an RV. This place pushes all of my buttons for things not to do when building an RV park.

Virtually every site in the park is a blind back in from the driver seat. You’re trying to back your trailer into a site on the right side without being able to see anything over there. Additionally, the site number pedestals for each site are right against the corner of the driveway where you have to back around them without being able to see them. Number pedestals for all sites are also right against the road, limiting the amount that you can swing your tow vehicle to the opposite side of the road to back into the site.  I will guarantee that not one person on the design team has ever backed, a travel trailer or fifth wheel into an RV site. The owners should have checked the credentials of the designers they hired. If they did, they were lied to. If they didn’t, then they just didn’t care about their customers.

Finally, one of my all-time favorites, all of the sewer connections are cut off about 12 inches above the ground. This means that even in a relatively tall fifth wheel, you are going to be trying to make shit filled water flow uphill. These things need to be cut off just an inch or two above the ground level  so that your sewage can flow downhill.

If you were here to spend an evening gambling at the casino, the place is roomy and well maintained. If you just want to spend the night, and not spend half of it trying to get into your site and set up, there’s got to be someplace close that would be better to go. We won’t be back.

    Pathfinder Village-St Croix

    Tall Tall Trees

Lots of tall evergreen trees (not sure of the specific species) here that you are nestled in. Have to know a seasonal site holder to camp here. Sites can be a little tricky backing into because of the trees, but ultimately they have enough space even for large rigs(there were three of us there: 2 5th wheels and one longer travel trailer). A picnic table and fire ring was provided at each site. Nice easy road to navigate getting into the campground. Close to Hinckley if you're looking for things to do!

    Banning State Park Campground

    Winter camping

This is a great place for winter camping! The campsites are large enough (despite the snow) to set up suitable winter tents, and each site has a picnic table and fire pit. In the park, there's a lot of ice climbing and cross country skiing. If you take a short walk from the main parking area towards the bathroom, and follow the trail alongside the bluff, you'll find awesome spots to climb and likely a lot of dedicated adventurers. Nearby the campsite you have a great water source, and a lot of peace and quiet at night despite being close to a residential area and town.

    Father Hennepin State Park Campground

    Great getaway from the city

Right on Lake Mille Lacs, one of Minnesota’s largest. Walking distance from the bakery and bar! Newer, updated facilities. Boat access. Lake side sites (if you book early enough). You can hit Mille Lacs State Park if you want to knock them both out on one trip! This park seems to attract a lot of long term campers, as I’m sure it’s pretty reasonable to stay at the lake all summer. We went mid-July I think and the trees were literally raining caterpillars… it was tough to want to hang out in our tree canopy-covered site. Sooo.. we ventured outside of the park more at this one.

There was a festival going on in a town west of here that had a couple rides and a really fun patio bar. If you do decide to venture out at night, ask the bartender for the limo driver’s number; he’s the city’s “uber”!

    Hatfield City Park

    Close to hwy

    Moose Lake City Park

    Will come again!

We stayed in site 27 and it was perfect for our truck, 40ft fifth wheel camper, and utv trailer. Its nice that the campground allows utv/atv access. If you are double pulling with a atv/utv trailer it is very challenging to use the dump station!!

Only downfall was all the goose poop and bugs, but thats to be expected on the lake. The weekend host and his wife were very nice people!

    Grand Casino RV Resort

    Rocking RockTember Music Festival

We booked our stay at the RV Resort so we wouldn't have to drive two and a half hours back and forth during the two day Grand RockTember Music Festival. *Please note when there's an event, book early!! This RV Resort has 271 RV/Camping full hook up sites that include a picnic table and fire pit. The sites are very close together with little to no privacy, but it did a fine job as we were there for the concert. Guest Services were super friendly when we checked in, and they give you a pass card to enter & exit the Resort. There is 24 hour security, and shuttle bus service to the casino, although we enjoyed the 1/2 mile walk to the amphitheater. All the sites are back in only, and are a tight squeeze for bigger rigs. They enforced the quite hours well, and we got a good nights sleep. There's a heated outdoor pool, and small convince store in the guest services building. They have a pet walking area, and kennels if you want to spend time at the casino. The bathhouse offered private toilet stalls and showers, and we squeaky clean!!! If you like to golf, don't miss the 18 hole Grand National Golf Course next door. We enjoyed our stay, and will be back again.

Guide to Grantsburg

Camping near Grantsburg, Wisconsin offers diverse options along the Minnesota-Wisconsin border. The region sits at approximately 900 feet elevation with sandy soils that create good drainage at many campgrounds. Summer temperatures typically range from 70-85°F during camping season, with higher humidity levels in July and August than in spring or fall months.

What to do

River adventures on the St. Croix: Wildwood RV Park & Campground offers kayaking and canoeing with shuttle service. "We went canoeing and kayaking and they provided a shuttle right from their main office," notes a visitor. "The paddlewheel boat ride on the St. Croix River was amazing. We even saw bald eagles on the ride."

Swimming activities: Most Banning RV Park and Campground visitors appreciate the pool facilities. "The office had a camp store inside of it. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were very clean. The fenced in dog park was a big bonus for our pup," one camper reported.

Golfing options: Several campgrounds feature golfing amenities. At Pokegama Lake RV Park And Golf, "They have golf, a pool, lake nearby, and seasonal camping," according to one reviewer. The campground provides access to both recreational facilities and water activities within a short distance.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Country Camping Tent & RV Park on the Rum River receives high marks for site configuration. "HUGE sites! You can either relax in the pool or even take a ride down the rum river in a rented canoe, tube, or kayak," notes one camper. "Max trailer length that I've seen here is 70'. Anyone can fit in here!"

Dog-friendly amenities: Multiple rv parks near Grantsburg include dedicated pet areas. "The fenced in dog park was a big bonus for our pup," shared one visitor about Banning RV Park. Another guest at Banning noted, "Remarkably, in addition to playgrounds for children in different places around the campground, there was a huge dog walking and play area that was grassy and beautifully clean—and included a complete dog playground with all the standards elements of a dog agility course!"

Clean facilities: Campground maintenance stands out in reviews. At Wildwood RV Park & Campground, campers mention that "The staff were friendly and kind, the facilities were clean, and it was a convenient location." Another reviewer noted, "The pool and playground were clean and nice. Our site had its own picnic table and firepit."

What you should know

Water hookup configurations: Several Grantsburg area RV parks have shared water connections. One camper at Banning RV Park and Campground noted: "We were quick to learn that water hookups were shared with other sites and required 'y' connections at the spigots. Our host(s) were prepared with the connectors in hand but seemed a bit surprised that we might need them."

Site leveling challenges: Many campgrounds have uneven terrain. A visitor mentioned that at Banning RV Park, "Our sites were grass that was a little long and rutted from what seemed from previous tenants. This made getting leveling a little difficult and our fold out stairs touched the ground before fully being deployed."

Internet connectivity varies: WiFi quality differs significantly across Grantsburg Wisconsin RV parks. At Wildwood Campground, a camper reported, "Sadly I needed 4 hours of internet and my cellular data here was spotty. I spent this time right outside the office."

Tips for camping with families

Look for dedicated play areas: Country Camping Tent & RV Park on the Rum River offers multiple children's activities. "This campground is great for everyone! It has a heated pool, splash pad area, BIG playground area, indoor game room," shares one reviewer. Another visitor confirmed, "A ton for the kids to do!"

Consider water safety features: When camping with children, look for campgrounds with controlled swimming areas. "Pool was small but nice. Splash pad was even nice for adults," noted a camper at Country Camping. Another mentioned, "Key thing is the river is very clean and sandy bottom."

Check for family-specific programming: Some campgrounds offer organized activities. At Wildwood Campground, families appreciate that "The kayaking/canoeing was an amazing adventure that everyone should try. It was even great for kids 3 and 6."

Tips from RVers

Bring extra hose length: Water hookups at Country Quiet RV Park and Campground and other area campgrounds may be far from sites. One Banning RV Park visitor warned: "Ours source ended up being 75' plus from our RV. Thankfully I just happened to be carrying the extra hose for several years but never had to use it before."

Plan for challenging site angles: RV site configurations can present backing difficulties. At Grand Casino RV Resort, one camper noted their difficulties: "The designers of this park have clearly never spent a night in an RV. This place pushes all of my buttons for things not to do when building an RV park. Virtually every site in the park is a blind back in from the driver seat."

Check seasonal availability: RV camping options near Grantsburg vary by season. At Wildwood RV Park, sites are available from "May 5 to October 8," while Country Quiet operates with a more flexible schedule suitable for RVers seeking off-season accommodations.
