Blue Heron Campground was once home to the Cherokee Indians.

Property is surrounded on all sides by water and has a mile and a half shoreline on the Tennessee river. Just to the North begins a designated 20 mile Wildlife Refuge following the river. It is 340 acres to roam and has rich farmland that has also grazed cattle.

People's landing is now the swim beach and sand boat ramp. It was a port of commerce when the main types of transportation, prior to good roads, were the steamboats, ferry boats, and trains.

Just north of People's landing used to be a post office and small store at Daniel's Landing.

The Tennessee River is one of only three rivers that flow North in the United States.

People can now use it for camping, fishing or just watching the boats and barges go by. Enjoy!

Blue Heron Campground is primitive camping with no services located 10 miles west of Lobelville, Tennessee. There is a marina for supplies within 3 miles. You can camp right on the shoreline of the Tennessee river and enjoy the river for fishing or swimming. Take a 20 mile day trip to Loretta Lynn's ranch or go 70 miles to Nashville. Enjoy 358 acres to hike and explore open meadows and forest. Enjoy the birds and the boats going by. Hopefully a beautiful sunset over the river to end the day.

The Woodlands at Buffalo River

21 acres of your choosing to set up your primitive camp. This is an old, growth wooded area. There are a few areas in which a tent can be set up. There are plenty of beautiful trees to place a hammock or bring a tarp to set up a camp, maybe even sleep under the stars. You will have to hike in, or Santa can possibly use his Jeep to bring you as close as possible.



Santa would love for you to visit his southern part of his woods. There are many wild critters he loves to share his woods with. White Tail Deer, Wild Turkeys, Raccoons, Foxes, all woodland critters to possibly spot.



Santa has some trails for hiking, mountain biking, even some 4x4ing he loves to share.



Santa's Woods

Located on the Chester Hollow Trail, this shelter sits atop a very steep hill. The trail elevation rises 150 feet in under one-quarter of a mile. Consult with a ranger if you are not confident of your ability to complete such an ascent. Water may be filtered from the creek at the base of the hill on which the shelter is located, but it is highly recommended to pack in your own. There is a fire ring. The distance to the shelter is 2.95 miles. There is room for two tents and an eight person limit. Please call visitor center for additional details. Chester Hollow Backcountry Shelter #1

From the Pilot Knob trailhead, this shelter is approximately 2.95 miles.  There is no water available.  You should pack in what you need.  The shelter is fully enclosed and provides ample room for two hikers and gear.  The shelter is 8'x10'.  Please call visitor center for additional details. Coordinates listed here are for the entrance to the park. 

Chester Hollow Backcountry Shelter #2

Located on 5 acres, 3 miles from TN river. There is plenty of room for your camper, tents, and I also have a 4 bedroom house available to rent, but that is a different price. Located out in the country. Bring your pets! This is an open area, rustic, and can run power to you, but no sewage dump is available.

At 6,643 feet, Clingmans Dome towers as the highest point in Tennessee and the third highest point east of the Mississippi River. Make sure to say hi to the hardcore hikers, many people hiking the entire Appalachian Trail will stop at this unforgettable lookout. 


A clear day at the dome observatory provides views as far as 100 miles. But explorers camping in Tennessee should plan on hiking their way up to the point, the roadway that leads to the observatory closes during inclement weather and from Dec. 1 to March 31 every year. 


If you’re camping with the kids and they’re looking for more occupation than your campsite offers, many of the natural attractions in Tennessee are also family friendly. Lookout Mountain is only minutes from Chattanooga and offers several world-famous sites like Rock City and the See Seven States point. 


All the mountain peak trails may leave the heights-averse camper less than enthused. But Tennessee has something for everyone. Also at Lookout Mountain, but plummeting beneath ground level, is where you’ll find Ruby Falls, the largest and deepest underground waterfall in the nation.

The I 40 Hideaway is located on Cuba Landing Road 1/8th mile off of the I 40 interstate. We are on 26 acres of Forested land with 21 RV sites, 10 Cabins, 1 3bd 2 bath Lodge and 20 tent camping sites. All RV sites have 30/50 amp power and water. Only 8 sites have sewer at this time but we have applied for the permit to make all the sites have sewer and we are expecting completion around Dec of 2020. We also have a fishing pond on the site that is catch and release only. It is stocked with catfish, bluegill, bass, carp. You can text or call our phone number with any questions you have.
