Best RV Parks & Resorts near Paris, TN

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Paris, Tennessee and the surrounding Kentucky Lake area feature several established RV parks accommodating various vehicle sizes and camping preferences. Eagles Nest RV Park provides concrete pads with full hookup utility kiosks, cable TV connections, and on-site laundry facilities. "Very friendly and welcoming park. This is a small park with only back in sites. Site was fairly level," noted one visitor from The Dyrt. Little Eagle RV Park offers gravel pads angled for easier backing, while Parkers Crossroads RV Park includes 48 sites across 18 acres of rolling farmland. Kentucky Lake-adjacent parks like Cypress Lakes RV Park maintain 105 sites with fifty-amp electric service, water connections, and sewer hookups available year-round.

Most RV parks near Paris require advance reservations, particularly during summer months when Kentucky Lake attracts boaters and fishermen. Full hookup sites typically include 30/50 amp electrical service, water connections, and sewer hookups, though availability varies by location. Cell service quality fluctuates throughout the region, with better reception reported near larger towns. Several parks accommodate big rigs with pull-through sites, though some visitors note narrow interior roads can make maneuvering challenging. Dump stations are available at most parks, and pets are generally allowed with standard leash requirements. Seasonal considerations include potential flooding at some waterfront sites after heavy rain, as one reviewer mentioned that "Site 1 and 2 flood when there is rain" at Eagles Nest RV Park.

Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park

    Old and small

The sites are very small but spread out. Our 35 ft class a barely fit. They do show length limits for sites and they definitely max limit. There is electric (30 amp) and water at the site but it was 75 ft from my sites. Extensions are needed. The staff is friendly and the roads are paved but there are signs directing where to go. Great bathrooms and plentiful. Also coin operated laundry. Fairly close to the freeway.

Parkers Crossroads RV Park and Campground

    One of the best

Like most if our reviews...I cannot comment on showers, bathrooms, etc. We have an RV for that. They do have a clean accessible laundry room that is nice. That being said...do yourself a favor and just stop here. This place a great find and one if the best we've stayed at. It's clean, plenty of space, great pond with ducks and geese, and the hosts are second to none...seriously the best. We stayed at a pull through, concrete pad site that was perfectly level. Their office is decorated in a really cool 50s diner fashion and makes you want to order a shake and some fries. Just a great spot. Given the time...I could see this being a long term spot for us.

    Hillman Ferry Campground

    Clean and Rustic

The best part of this campground is the beautiful rustic old timey feel. There are updated modern bathhouses dispersed throughout. The camp store is well stocked. There is a very nice boat ramp and several boat parking areas. “T” area is our favorite with full hookups and beautiful pine trees. A premier and amazing mountain bike trail system is accessible directly from campground!! The Canal Loop Trail and North South Trails are well known and revered by area mountain bikers and hikers. No WiFi or internet service. Cell signal in prior years have been spotty. Very family friendly and lots of kids riding bikes and playing everywhere!

    Canal Campground- Lake Barkley COE

    And then some.....

Canal Recreation Area is right by Grand Rivers, Ky and Patti's Settlement. That right there is enough said as far as outdoor activities go. Then you have Canal Rec Area that just adds too the vacation.

Book early because the best sites stay full, but really they are all pretty good sites. The different areas cover just about anything you are looking for in a site from big rig pull through sites, tiered tent sites, water and beach access sites and boat ramp sites.

There is a trail within the campground to walk, a day use area, newer showerhouse/laundry facilities and dump stations. The area is large enough to jog, bike and golf cart. If your not interested in the nearby entertainment there is enough to do right on site to keep you occupied for your entire vacation be it a day or a week+

Parkers Crossroads RV Park and Campground

    RV Park and RV Repair!

Parker’s Crossroads is located very conveniently off of I-40 and the park is gorgeous! They have some long term campers, storage, and an RV Repair Center on site. The shop inside has more parts then we have ever seen at an RV Park. While here we needed a switch for a water heater, they had it!

The campground had some narrow roads and some less than level sites but they were all doable. They have a nice pool area, spaces for dogs to be walked (on leash), pet waste disposal, cabins, and full hook ups.

The park was very quiet and clean, well kept. They have large mature trees, and great landscaping.

The cellular service for TMobile and AT&T we’re both decent and streaming video was possible each night.

    Redd Hollow

Tent and Small Camper Camping, Basic Sites

Well kept campground offering a more basic camping experience as compared to the larger campgrounds at LBL. Gravel pads with concrete picnic tables and fire rings. Be mindful when picking a site that some of the fire rings are damaged, some are the older short (12" tall tops) style and still others are brand new and have the adjustable cooking grate.

The actual gravel pads that we saw were for the most part in good shape. One or two sites suffered a bit from heavy wash running across them and rutting or washing gravel off the pads.

About half the sites are on the left hand side when you drive in and you can pick from sites tucked back in the woods a bit or sites nearer the water. Farther into the campground the road passes the vault toilet and boat ramp and goes uphill to higher up sites still. Sites in the woods with a longer walk to the lake but potentially better views and breezes.

We found that campers here did not limit themselves to staying on the defined tent pads. They would park on the pads and set up tents around the true camp site. Not a super big deal but it made getting down to the water a little awkward because you had to walk a little too close to someone else's tent for my liking.

The Forest Service could stand to go in and add some of the timber framing or bigger rip-rap bordering around the sites and maybe a splash of the smaller sized gravel to help level out the pads. You do need watch to make sure you get a level site.

If there are say 30 sites here, only about 15 were occupied over Labor Day weekend. Way less than what we expected for a holiday but it was exactly what we were hoping for, avoid the crowds at the larger, more amenity-filled campgrounds.

Last thing regarding the lake. The back end of Redd Hollow is shallow. Nice place to wade for kids. However, when they start pulling the lake down what were water access sites become gravel and mud bar access sites. In the dead middle of the summer the back end of the cove is probably full of water. Early spring and late summer early fall it is not. I suspect you can use the boat ramp year round though.

What you should know

Seasonal weather considerations: Kentucky Lake area experiences distinct seasons. Summer brings temperatures averaging 87-92°F while winter drops to 27-45°F. Spring often brings rainfall that can affect some sites.

Limited hiking options: Some campgrounds have restricted outdoor activity space. "Personally I enjoy being able to hike and ride a bike which is limited here," mentions a Birmingham Point Campground reviewer.

Weekend noise levels: Some parks experience higher noise levels from nearby establishments. At Eagles Nest RV Park, one camper noted, "Although the campground has no control, on Friday and Saturday nights the two businesses that back up to the park are noisy with music, cars, people. Just be aware."

Site flooding concerns: Several campgrounds have drainage issues during heavy rain. This affects specific sites at certain parks, so inquire before booking during rainy seasons.

Variable cell service: Signal strength varies significantly throughout the region, with stronger reception near Paris and weaker coverage in more remote lake areas.

Tips for camping with families

Lakefront swimming options: Cypress Lakes RV Park offers swimming areas suitable for children. "Kids enjoyed the playground and the reservoir is really beautiful," shares one family, though they noted, "We wish the pool had been open…it's still in the process of a renovation."

Summer activities calendar: Holiday weekends often feature organized events. "Love this campground, very friendly and accommodating. Lots of fun activities on Holiday weekends throughout the summer season," explains a camper at Cypress Lakes RV Park.

Kid-friendly fishing spots: Smaller fishing ponds offer safer alternatives to lake fishing for younger children. "Has a little Lake in it to fish. Not far off the interstate makes it handy," notes a visitor about the on-site pond.

Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Little Eagle RV Park sites may require additional leveling equipment. The gravel pads are angled for easier backing but some campers recommend bringing leveling blocks for certain sites.

Water pressure considerations: RVers should use pressure regulators at Parkers Crossroads RV Park. During check-in briefings, staff inform campers to "use a reducer as their water pressure is high."

Site selection strategy: At Parkers Crossroads, request specific areas based on rig size. "When we asked how we could get into one of the sites in the 29-35 area, which had plenty of open sites during our stay, we were told those were for big rigs 40' and over," shares one RVer.

RV repair services: Coyote View RV Park offers on-site maintenance services. "If your RV needs service, CAMP HERE! The owners Lowell and Jill are THE BEST HUMANS," writes one grateful camper whose slide-out mechanism needed repair during their trip.
