8 campgrounds with availability this weekend
Multiple RV parks surround Washington Woods, Pennsylvania, providing various options for motorhome travel. Spring Gulch Resort Campground offers full hookup RV sites with electric, water, and sewer connections, operating from March through December. Sites accommodate big rigs with 50-amp service on mostly level terrain. "Sites are a good size but can be on a strange slope tucked in on a corner," noted one visitor who experienced difficulty leveling their rig. Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country and Thousand Trails Hershey provide additional options with seasonal availability from April to October, featuring pull-through RV pads that accommodate larger vehicles. Pinch Pond Family Campground remains accessible year-round with spacious motorhome sites and full hookup capability.
Advance reservations are strongly recommended during summer months and fall foliage season when campgrounds reach capacity. Most parks provide sanitary dump stations, though limited to just two stations at larger facilities like Spring Gulch, potentially creating wait times during peak checkout periods. Cell coverage varies across the region, with stronger signals reported closer to Lancaster and Hershey. Pet policies differ between parks—most allow pets with standard restrictions, while Drummer Boy Camping Resort maintains a no-pets policy. Propane services are limited, with most campers needing to seek refills at off-site locations. Winter camping options are restricted, as many parks close between November and March due to seasonal weather conditions.
"There was a craft show in the barn which was nice. Only two dump stations for a pretty large park. We would camp here again but not over a holiday."
"The campsites available are primitive or have water and electric and bathhouses / restrooms are located in a few spots around the park. Fire rings are at each site, but appear to get moved a lot."
"The biggest downside to this particular campground is its very close proximity to the PA Turnpike, which while convenient, might detract a bit from the peace & quiet you might be expecting when here"
"Tucked into the rolling, wooded hills of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country RV Resort offers a unique blend of peaceful countryside and activity-packed camping, all just a stone"
"I got an amazingly large site with a nice fire pit and picnic table. The site was very level so that was great! Nice indoor and outdoor pools! Cable TV isn't free, but I never use it anyway."
"We got pretty lucky and were assigned one of the concrete pads that was pretty level. It is absolutely beautiful out."
"Well wooded campground with friendly staff and guests. The only minor complaint is that the camp store was sparsely supplied. B+ little gem of a campground."
"Showed up on Wednesday, and was assigned a spot in loop 700 up on a hill in the center of a ring of trailers, past a lot of full-timers. Cable does not work. No internet. 2 bars LTE on T-Mobile."
"While it offers nice amenities and a shuttle to Hersheypark, the campground itself is very tight, cramped, and hard to navigate."
"I stayed at HersheyPark Camping Resort with my family over the extended Easter weekend this year. "
from $50 - $60 / night
"While its proximity to the highway makes access easy, the property itself is gated, organized into distinct camping zones and packed with amenities that clearly cater to longer stays and families looking"
"campground so inconveniently located (more on this later) right next to highway I76."
"There seem to be a lot of seasonal campers but everyone was extremely nice and welcoming. We had a pull-through site with W/S/E, which made dumping, etc much easier that pulling to a dump site."
"It’s a nice campground with a lot of amenities for all. Everyone whom I had contact with that had season sites were very friendly and provided some good info."
"We stayed at Appalachian to visit a friend who has a seasonal site. Our site was full hook up."
"Family friendly. Lots for the kids to do."
"My family and I stayed at Lake In Wood for 4 days. The campground is very well maintained , and the staff is very nice."
"From the spotlessly clean grounds to the nice facilities this is a favorite of ours. There are lots of seasonal sites but there also lots of visitors too."
from $40 - $60 / night
"The spots are a little tight but we were able to get our 46’ toy hauler in the spot with very little effort. Because the sites are back-in, we can’t use our rear patio but that is ok."
"The staff was very friendly and our site was a good location. People were all friendly and welcoming! We came in early fall with 3 kids."

Clean bathrooms and hot showers, great hiking and beautiful sites.
Easy access to Lancaster and Pennsylvania Dutch areas. Friendly, welcoming staff and plenty of colorful trees in the autumn. The only RV park in the area that is open year round.
Country Acres is a lovely, well maintained campground. Sites are level and bath house facilities clean and modern. Friendly staff in the office. Dog friendly. Local to all the Lancaster attractions. A complimentary farmland tour is offered by bus and it was great. They take you out into an area of Amish farms and shops and make a stop at 2 of these. The fresh Amish pretzels are amazing!
Great campsite. Fire pit, picnic table, swimming pool ( not open), miniature golf course, laundromat, bathrooms, showers, dump station, gathering areas for groups, playground, and even a horse area and stalls for horses. Dog friendly. Staff was very helpful and curious.
We booked two nights mid October not realizing that it's duck hunting season and that hunting is allowed RIGHT by the campground - with kids everywhere. We were jolted out of sleep at 5 am by gun fire right near our site. It kept up for the next hour. In addition, the bathrooms, although clean are in poor condition. Peeling paint everywhere with bare concrete in the showers. For such a pretty site, we had a miserable stay. We left after one night.
Where we were camping had blown up their dump station. Artillery Ridge helped us out. $10. to dump. If we come to camp in Gettysburg, it will be hear.
You just can't beat a pennsylvania park. This one is not an exception. Nice clean restroom, plenty of room. Now, what cost a star. Yes, it rained like hell. When we broke camp and go dump. The dump station was overflowing with sewer. Go to the guard shack to tell them, and find another site. None there. Can I go to an unused full hookup to dump? No! I would have to pay for the site. Two hours later, we found a place to dump for $10.
The advertisements for Olde Mill Campground were disingenuous. The campsite was 20 yards from a roller coaster. The NOISE of the roller coaster and children on it screaming was as relentless and unnerving as any train we have ever slept near. There was no quiet until almost midnight. The “pull-through” site left my truck almost in the road and our 25’ Airstream slightly over the road on the backside. The site was not level. The sites were close enough to hear a neighbor’s snoring.
We stayed here to go to the Hershey RV show—about 55 min drive. Right in the center of Amish country. Campground is adults only. It was very clean. The bathrooms were very clean with great water pressure. The roads are tight for getting into sites. Site 5 was not level side to side. We met great people there.

Mini golf courses: Several campgrounds maintain mini golf facilities for family recreation. At Lake-In-Wood Campground, visitors appreciate the combination of activities. "Great pools and classes (water aerobics was fun for everyone). They did have a mini golf course too," shared Meag F., indicating the variety of recreation options available.
Farm animal interactions: Families can experience farm life at some area campgrounds. "If you love farm animals, that is the spot to be. Got a kick out of the children playing with the kids (baby goats) pigs, goats, chickens, horses and even lamas," wrote Robert M. about his stay at Thousand Trails Gettysburg Farm, describing the educational opportunities available.
Corn maze adventures: Seasonal activities include navigating corn mazes at area campgrounds. "It was an easy hike as suggested on the map to circle around and through the cornfield, you get a great view of the farms nearby and the river," reported Mary H. about her experience at Gettysburg Farm.
Well-maintained pools: Spring Gulch Resort Campground receives positive feedback for its aquatic facilities. "Heated spa/pool in upper area are a bonus. Lots of sports gear available for free to use within park," noted Beth B., though she mentioned gear "has to be returned by 5 when main office closes."
Weekend entertainment: Live performances enhance weekend stays at area campgrounds. "They had a live band one evening. Activities though the day were fun," reported Dawn T. about Spring Gulch, while another visitor mentioned, "The Saturday night bands are concert worthy" at Sun Valley Campground.
Seasonal theming: Holiday and seasonal decorations create special atmospheres. "We were there around Halloween and they had decorated the park so nicely," shared Mary H. about Gettysburg Farm, while Melissa Y. noted at Appalachian Camping Resort, "They had Halloween ever at every weekend of October... The kids loved it!"
Ice cream availability: Multiple campground stores feature ice cream service. Stuart K. noted that Thousand Trails Gettysburg Farm has "a country store with souvenirs, sundries, snacks and ice cream," while Yamileth K. mentioned Hershey's "best selling item is Hershey ice cream (so good!)" at Thousand Trails Hershey.
Site leveling challenges: Many rv sites near Washington Woods, Pennsylvania require significant leveling efforts. Justin B. reported at Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country that "unlevel is an understatement... every camper there had front end 4 foot off the ground." Similarly, another camper mentioned at Pinch Pond Family Campground, "Lots were a bit uneven, but pull through which was nice."
Noise considerations: Some campgrounds experience noise from nearby highways or shooting ranges. "There is a shooting range right next door. It is pretty consistent from lunch to dinner," warned Tara N. about Pinch Pond, while Kathy L. noted the "noise from road and shooting range nearby" was a "main drawback" at the same location.
Limited site privacy: Many campgrounds feature open layouts with minimal separation between sites. "Sites are very close together. Fire rings are very close to campers," observed Justin B. at Appalachian Camping Resort, highlighting potential proximity issues.
Seasonal closures: Most campgrounds operate between April and October/November with limited winter availability. Lake-In-Wood Campground's website indicates they're open April 1 through October 31, with Thousand Trails locations following similar seasonal patterns.

Pet restrictions: Review pet policies before booking as rules vary significantly. While most campgrounds welcome pets with standard restrictions, Drummer Boy Camping Resort maintains a strict no-pets policy throughout their property.
Playground options: Campgrounds offer varying playground facilities. "Nice playground for the kids," noted one camper at Drummer Boy Camping Resort, while another mentioned Pinch Pond's "kid's playground" among amenities families appreciate.
Indoor recreation: For rainy day alternatives, seek campgrounds with covered facilities. "They have an indoor and outdoor pool. Nice playground," reported Leanne B. about Thousand Trails Circle M, providing options regardless of weather conditions.
Early arrivals recommended: Drummer Boy Camping Resort and other campgrounds with first-come, first-served policies require strategic timing. "The first thing to know is that Thousand Trails sites are first come, first serve. Meaning you have to arrive early in order to get the best spots," advised Yamileth K., suggesting a 1 pm arrival time.
Site selection strategy: RVers recommend researching specific site areas before arrival. Regarding Pinch Pond, Stuart K. advised, "IMHO the best campsite locations are actually the ones designated for primitive tents as they are all located in the rear of the property and therefore quieter and more removed from the rest of the somewhat crowded campground."
Dump station timing: Limited dump stations create bottlenecks during checkout periods. "Only two dump stations for a pretty large park," noted Jen R. about Spring Gulch, suggesting RVers plan accordingly to avoid delays.
Seasonal site availability: For motorhome camping near Washington Woods, Pennsylvania, availability varies by season. One visitor to Thousand Trails Hershey noted the campground operates from "April 14 to October 29," similar to other regional rv parks that close during winter months.
